I worked, but not a good dayby AgentIce, August 02
So I got up at about 1 pm, I actually woke up at 10:40 orginally but decided to sleep some more. I payed the rent, payed the bills, made breakfast then started playing.
Did a couple hours, made some moves I regretted though. One hand a guy had 20% 3 bet, was playing very aggro. I raised button with AT, he rred me from bb, I decided to call figuring my A or T would be good a lot if I hit and if I miss I will raise a lot of flops. Flop ended up coming 243 with 2 spades. He bet, I reraised figuring to have some good outs if he had an overpair, he pushed and I called. He had 49s and I got owned.
Another one I had A9 in the CO and got a caller on the button and in the bb. Flop is 986 2 diamond board, I bet the flop, button calls, and bad 43 vpip aggro guy makes it 16$. I just push, no idea why, just trying to be more aggro and felt the 43 vpip guy could do it with lots of stuff, and the button prob wasn't that strong. Of course 43 vpip guy had the nuts.
Also did some amazingly retarded calldown with QQ. Guy was 29/23 and very aggro with like 14% 3 bet. He also was only folding to 3 bet about 40%. I had 3 bet him about 4 times in a row and beat him twice in all-in pots, and he hadn't folded to a 3 bet once. So I 3 bet him again with qq, flop comes k42 rainbow, he checks and i check behind because I felt it likely he tried something funny. Turn is another K, and I'm honestly figuring he is going to bluff at it a high % because of the dynamic. He bets 11 and I call, river is an A and he insta pushed 50 into 30. For some reason I really thought he read me for QQ or JJ and was trying to bluff me off, so I call and he has AA. I was so pissed at myself, I haven't played that bad in a long time, so I stopped for the day.
Enough of that crap, I'm just playing standard from here on out, and focusing on playing lots of hours. It's not the time to be working on my game.
My like goal for August was to have a nice, solid winning month playing a lot of hands and just grind my way into good results. Now, 30 hours into the new month, I feel that I might have to up my targets a bit. Fwiw I don't think this winrate is sustainable, after all, it's only Saturday once a week.
So today was the day I moved out of my house and into my college dorm. I was so excited I couldn't sleep because I would finally be on my own and get to live with some random dude which I was really excited about because it would give me a chance to make a new friend and all that shit. But I met up with him today and he said he was going to be living at his parents house for the whole year because he couldn't afford school but he had already signed his lease so he is kinda fucked. So I have this 2 bedroom dorm to myself. Which really sucks because when I was at home I wasn't really hanging with friends or doing much so it kinda depresses me that I'm alone again.
Also I don't know anyone in downtown denver or at this school so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. However, July was a good month and was +1k on the month. I would show my graph but I dun use pt or nething. So now I can finally move up to .5/1. Btw if anyone wants to play Halo MLG or Slayer leave me ur ID.
Well I'ma play some poker good luck guys. Peace Chris.
My gf entered another makeup contest, she made her face look like a pheonix. Check it out, the end result actually looks cool, you can watch this in HD.

2.5/4, not bad, but nothing to write home about (LP on the other hand...)
July I wanted to aim for some huge volume, but being so new to poker I don't really think I handle running poorly as well as some so I just quit for 5 hours when I have a bad session and I stop for a day or two if I have 4-5 in a row. This really hurt my volume, but I think it helped my bankroll. I only got in a pathetic 17k hands this month, less than half of what I was shooting for. Only time will tell if this was standard variance or if I actually ran as poorly as I perceived. Before this turns into a whine blog, which it shouldn't be..
I ended up .84BB/100 for the month. I did well in rakeback and bonuses though, and I earned 1.5BI in the ironman tournament, so I did okay for my bankroll which grew over $500 this month. I had a coach this month, we've probably spent 12 hours together this month, I feel it has really improved my game. I've felt I was a decent hand reader since I started learning (who doesn't though, LOL), but now I know what to do with that information.
I've got a lot on my plate this month, that's usually when I do best though, so I'm looking to get everything in order so I can crush life.
I know not many people will read this, and even less will care, but I hope everyone who does will run great!

P.S. WHAT TO DO WITH £250 ($410) VOUCHERS?
I kinda ran out of Ideas of what to buy at Amazon. Got a phone, watch, 23'' LG Screen (I LOVE IT SO MUCH OMFG-.-)), sme DVDs a couple books and some other dumb things like poker posters.
I will maybe get a Wii (although I will never use it most likely)and of course some kickass executive chair, but after that I have no Idea.
(The £250 Voucher Offers 60 FPP/$ at present exchange rate - Only the milestone Cash Credits from 200,000 give better ratio)
July went pretty well, fell a bit short of my hands goals (mostly due to partying a bit too much at the end as well as my allergies hitting me really hard over the past week) but still managed about 8k total profits. It's about what I was hoping for but i did have a -15 bi run to end the month so it ended on a sour note, 5 digit month would have been very nice.
In any case, gonna go for a 150k hand month for august. That should be between 3k and 4k in rakeback so with that and potential winnings I'm hoping for a $15k month, it'll depend quite a bit on when I'll be able to move up to NL200. Needs to be a pretty huge month though since sept is going to be extremely busy, going to Korea for APPT Seoul and vegas for mine and my gf's birthday (on that subject, why the fuck are hotels so expensive the weekend AFTER labor day?). It's kinda cool but mostly lame that we were both born on the 9th but whatever, it's her 21st so obviously the trip is going to be mostly about her. Gonna be a huge strain on my wallet but hopefully if I bring a good amount of money with me I can win a lot of it back playing live donks.
On the subject of my gf she's really taken an interest in becoming good at poker. She's helped me a ton with my motivation to play (fox can attest to this, she's basically a surrogate supervisor) and has started to pick up on things herself. I'm a little skeptical about teaching her because winning in the online world is not easy at all and she seems to have a bit too much gamble and not quite enough patience but so far she's taken to it very well. The plus side is she can grind really fucking well, she enjoys poker far more than I do and has a natural workaholic mentality, she puts in 3k-4k hand sessions like they were nothing. In any case, if any micro stakes players have played with her on stars (her sn is bluegirl09) and can tell me what you've seen from her playing style I'd appreciate it. I'm still unsure if she can get past the massive NL25/NL50 cockblock even with months of coaching but we'll see. If she can she has more than enough drive to go SNE next year.
This blog is mostly just for me to remind me wtf i was doing this month, my goals for the month, how it went and my goals for August.
July Goals:
1. [ ] 20k hands
2. [x] 1k profit including rakeback
3. [x] Move up to NL100
4. [ ] Run 15 times
5. [ ] Watch 8 CR Vids
1. 20k hands: My goal was to play at least 20k hands, I played 18k, which is kind of lazy. But I went on a four days cruise with my family with 6h stops in Riga and Visby. There was a nice buffet on the boat and you could drink as much wine and beer during the 2h buffet as you wanted. Which usually meant two glasses of white wine for me, just because they had so much sea food.
The average age on the boat was probably 45 but it was okay anyway, still had a good time going out drinking with my brother, his girlfriend and my sister every night.
2. $1k profit: I don't usually set monetary goals, but I wanted to set one this time, a low one that i'd make almost every time. As a confidence booster from last month when I broke-even and had the worst month in about a year. The month started off slow and I broke even for about the first 4k hands, the following 8k hands I won 10BI, then hit a downswing for 14BI in 3 days x.x
I ran bad, but also made some huge spews which is annoying and retarded. I should just be able to tell myself that losing is part of poker and that's that. I probably would have made about 5 more BI if I hadn't spewed this month. In cg I was break-even before yesterday but had a heater on the last day and made $500 in 1,1k hands. It's always nice to at least profit! Even though I ran below expectation this month I think I would've made twice as much if I just hadn't spewed. And making $1k in a month on cg isn't bad at all! I really need to work on not spewing, cuz I'm definitely not crushing NL100 and I need every $ I can get.
I made enough on rb and had some small tournament cashes to fulfill this month's goal of making $1k, but just barely, thank you 31th for letting me run good :D.
3. Move up to NL100: uhm.. done.
4. Run 15 times: I ran 10 times, which is still good, 15 times is sort of overkill. I've joined a soccer team which is tonnes better training than just running. The club has teams in the 8th, 7th and 5th division. Haven't played in a club for 10 years so I'm a bit rusty. But I've always had a talent for sports and might even play for their 5th divisions team at the end of the season (2 months). It's more likely that I won't though. If I don't get injured I will most likely be one of the starting eleven next season.
5. Watch 8 CR vids: Watched 5, atm I feel like it's more important for me to just play and get used to NL100 than watching videos. I mostly just watch videos after running bad to get back on track.
On a side note, I was accepted for my university course! it's a one year base course in natural science which hopefully leads to me getting a biologist degree. The course starts in the end of August, which means I won't be able to grind whenever I want to or as much.
August Goals:
[ ] 20k hands
[ ] Clear the $500 bonus on FTP
[ ] Go to every soccer practice
just started playing poker again, well...never really played it much but this time i think ill be more motivated to continue playing.
So i was doing fine with sng's and was up around $5-8 from playing $1 +0.25 in fulltilt..
Then i installed pokertracker and have been playing weirdly ever since. Just not used to all the figures etc but i do know that it will help me in the long term so i just need to learn all the functions n HUD.
got a Question though..which is basically the purpose of this blog post since i didnt feel like embarassing myself by creating a post just to ask this Q.
How do i calculate EV for any hand im in, can HUD show EV?
how do i graph EV in pokertracker or whatever program that people use for EV.
First day of getting seriousby AgentIce, August 01
So I have been slowly getting my discipline back and playing more poker, but I have been wasting too much time. So my plan with this blog is to make public my efforts, both good and bad, in order to hopefully motivate me more so I can write something good.
Today I had planned to play, but I got sidetracked when going out with my girlfriend to do some shopping and to go to her bank to get her half of the rent. Afterwards we were planning on going swimming. Because I knew I wouldn't play for a while I smoked some weed, a bad idea and it really didn't do much for me. I had the idea of looking at goodwill for cheap furniture, something I could have said no to and started working, and just an excuse to not play. Looking back its sad how easily I talk myself out of working. It started getting so late I did what I usually do and thought "well its so late, why not take the day off, it won't matter much.". I also said I wanted to buy more weed because the old weed was so crappy and unfulfilling. I guess its true, but more bullshit, I should have just decided to work in the first place. I shouldn't have smoked the crappy weed at all actually. I told jessica I worked the past 5 days, which is true, but I wasn't doing as many hours as I should have. Some of the days I only did like 1.5 hours. Eventually we came back to the apartments and swam, then went to walmart to get some stuff for dinner, then watched some tv. So I think basically I really need to focus on not making excuses and sticking to my plan. Having to write out and be honest with myself about how much I avoid working in a public blog like this will hopefully motivate me.
