Lots of hard work and a good amount of luck has really paid off this past 6 weeks. At least SakiSaki can stop trying to discredit me now -_-
Unfortunately won't be getting it to above 0 anytime soon because I'm moving to FTP. Stars 2/4 games are mega lame with the huge amount of short stackers and uber nits.
Coaching? is it worth it and where?by flounder44, September 12
Lately ive lost all motivation to play poker and i refuse to play now unless i feel like workign on my game etc. Im down over 10 buyins this month from 200nl running really bad set vs oversets, losing QQ vs AK-AA etc. And Overpair never holding up on 3b pots allin on flop. Basically im really soulcrushed right now and was wondering where i could get cheap coaching for 100-200nl. I know most coaches charge ridiculous amounts like 5x their hourly winrate and im not down to pay that much, when i play on such low limits compared to what they charge and theres no guarantee ill win more :D
sorry about the huge FAIL trying to get my video up. i have a premium account at mega-upload now and uploaded the video twice. but what megaupload does it makes the video streaming with a quality that prevents you from from seeing any details other what colour the holecards are.. :S
i tried uploading it zipped in a rar file but now megaupload doesnt provide me with a download link.
after that i had to leave to visit a friend in another city and to visit my parent's hous e in the south of the Netherlands. And i got sick. I have a minor fever i think. Just slept all day and am already tired typing this up.
i can't make any promises since this computer stuff (camtasia, megaupload, rapidshare) is really tilting me) but Nolan was so cool as to play me HU at my level to help me out a little. and i actually recorded it and will put it up if i find a way to add audio to it(another camtasia fail).
so sorry to let you down and if you have any ideas of what i'm doing wrong let me know.
Basically instead of sleeping my standard 8-12 hours a night, you break your sleep into 6 20-30 minute naps for a total of 2-3 hours of sleep every 24 hours.
I can't believe I've never heard of this until now, it sounds perfect for a poker player. You cut out all of the "wasted" sleep and just go straight into REM sleep during the naps. And while you're awake, apparently you are alert as ever.
One of the drawbacks though is that it takes a couple of weeks to convert to this way of sleeping, and you gotta have a pretty open schedule to do it. And basically while you are converting, you are a zombie.
I am seriously considering giving this a try, it would be pretty sweet having an extra 5 hours a day.
So basically I have a bit over 1k in my checking account.
So I send in a rent check for $545. Real estate company says they didn't get the check, so I send in another one. They magically find the other one and cash both. Checking account balance = $106.37
Over the summer I lived in another apartment where I paid the electric bills. I canceled my account 4 months ago and they said they would send me the last bill in the mail. My account was on autopay, so it took the last bill directly from my checking account 3 months ago, which was fine. Today, they decided that they didn't charge me enough and took an additional $106.77 from my checking account.
End result, checking account overdrafts by 40 cents.
What is yours? On 2+2 I saw someone with 73% cbet get told that he was cbetting to often, so I checked mine and its 85% lifetime o.o I think a big leak has been found, thoughts?
It's been a long time since my last blog, I took a good 3-4 months off of poker. After failing hard and being too busy to put in the proper amount of time, I've come back to pick up where I left off as a n00b microgrinder... As I think anyone should I can beat NL2 very easily... I deposited ~$40 sometime in August, and for prolly 25k hands I beat NL2 at ~7BB/100... In my hand histories from Feb-June I was beating NL2 for 4BB/100 over 50k hands. I feel confident in my NL2, not that it's any sort of real achievement... It is NL2 after all...
My NL5 shots lately have certainly improved from my first NL5 shots at the beginning of the year. I don't currently have a great sample size, I'm currently -3bi after 3-4k hands. I've also switched over to FTP for rakeback/bonuses/promotions. These have really been a good boost for my BR and are allowing me to move up quicker (or more down more slowly)
For some reason NL5 really seems extremely different from NL2. I feel like I'm actually playing against players that aren't total maniacs. With an actual nit here or there. Quite different. Anyway, I feel like I know poker theory well for my level. I've read several books, watched countless videos, and most of the material is way over NL5 so it's not really applicable. It's still pretty educational, and also helps me understand why straight up ABC is so vital to NL25 and under... My Poker mindset has prolly advanced more than anything else in my play though... My tilting is far less troublesome, and I've gained enough conscious control to know when to stop playing and/or spewing
Anyway, heres graph/stats in case there are some gaping holes in my play that I don't see.
Stats wise, I would like to get my WTSD slightly lower, my W$WSF slightly higher, and my Att to steal slightly higher. However at this level I don't think these are huge issues because I feel my play -should- be good enough to beat these levels. I'm not really sure though, and I want to just play ABC as best I can, and maybe when i'm beating NL5 for 5BB/100 over 30k hands I'll feel comfortable enough to Cbet or raise sketchy cards on the button more...

Not posted in a while here, simply because I have played hardly any poker at all. Working full time in a job I love is awesome. Its hard work and hours can be very long, but its completely rewarding. The drawback is, I come back from working all day and find myself shattered, and even though I really want to play Poker there is just nothing in me to play poker on my A game. I know if I start I will not be playing my best.
I was on holiday for a couple of weeks in Spain at end of August and in that time it really made me think of the future and what I want, and things I need to remove from my life to make it happen. Games like DotA and shit just are such a waste of time, and really eat up into my day when I could be doing far more productive things. It also really re-energised me after all the shit I had with my previous job and the worries of finding another job.
When on Holiday I also read the Poker Mindset book - which is such a fantastic book. I highly recommend it for any poker player at whatever level. It made me look at some aspects of poker in a whole different way, for example Tilt and what it really is, or what a "downswing" really is (or isnt!). At times in the book it does repeat it self a bit, but then it throws a whole different angle on things. So after reading it, I was all ready and focused to play some poker, and when I got back I played some sessions and felt I played my A game, but ended up 4 buy ins down, which was kinda weird. But I wasnt worried. Just ran into sets etc or AA with KK, all so standard.
So havent played in weeks now. due to it being really busy in work. We have been doing alot of big gigs all over UK at the moment. Status Quo gig in Ireland with Jools Holland, big music festival in Belfast called Belsonic, Electric Picnic festival in Ireland, Blackpool Illuminations in England, BBC Proms (this weekend), and loads of other smaller gigs around Ireland at the same time. Its been mega busy and such hard work and crazy crazy hours (25 hour day last wknd), but its all good, cuz i love it lol.
Anyway hoping to get some sessions in today. Music wise I cannot stop playing Deadmau5's new tune with Rob Swire (pendulum singer) in it. Its awesome, love all the harmonies in it. Check it out!
Oh and I am hoping to play some Live Poker soon, possible this week! Can't wait WIll let you know how it goes
Building Another Rollby Seobombisgay, September 12
I decided to deposit $100 on AP(I no flame away) and rebuild it as if I had to start all over again. I started off at the $5 Ultra Turbo 500 chip HU sngs, then the $10s, then jumped straight into $50nl HU at around $500(im a brm lagtard). All I can say is, I've been running like GOD.
Broke up with the gf still made profit though...by Masaki, September 12
I broke it off with my gf, I'll miss her but what can I do? Certain events came up during camping and it was stressing me out way too much. I needed to break it off, I feel bad but sometimes in life you have to do things because your heart is telling you its not right to continue because your mind isn't into it. We had a lot of good times together and like I said I'll miss her. Oh well...
On another note! I've been running disgustingly good. My last losing day was awhile ago and not too big. I think changing up my game helped a lot, and just trying to exercise with P90x and eat healthy might be helping too who knows? I'm excited to complete my $100k year challenge. I'm getting close to 60k and hopefully by the end of the month i'll reach at least 60k if not more! That leaves Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb 11th. I hope I can do it. I was planning on going to Japan for Oct or Nov... but I might not now just to complete the challenge.
Hand from PAD that I thought was interesting. Would like to discuss from Patrik Antonius's POV
200/400 like 250k effective 6 handed
Ziggy limps
Durrr raises to 4k
PA calls with AdTd
Eli calls
Ziggy calls
Flop 16.6k: TsTc2s
checked through
Turn 16.6k: TsTc2s ... Qh
PA leads 11k
Dwan calls
River 38.6k: TsTc2s ... Qh ... 5s
PA leads 32k
Dwan raises 64k to 96k
I'm not sure I like PA's big lead, but if he leads, this strikes me as the perfect spot to b/3b (like 140k left behind) as a bluff. When Durrr checks the flop, I don't think he ever has QQ. Patrik knows he can't have TT, and I think he cbets 22 and QT a decent percentage of the time because there's a FD to get called by and he's Durrr so he should know he gets no credit. I would imagine he would also cbet the nfd a good amount of the time. I'll also say that Durrr probbly never flats the turn with 55. Patrik's line is very consistent with boats like QT, 22, or even TT, and he really shouldn't have air ever leading into 3 players on the turn, so I'd have to imagine if he b/3b the turn Durrr would fold pretty much his entire range* on the river because it's really hard to think of any bluffs Patrik has other than a T turned into a bluff. What do you guys think? Bear in mind that I am not sick enough to ever turn trips into a bluff against durrr on the river for a quarter mil, but at the time I was yelling at PA to do it. Seems like a really cool spot.
*I think his range on the river is probably almost entirely not nut flushes and Qx turned into a bluff, with some small % of nut flushes and 22 played strangely. I think there's a chance he folds that entire range, and if he's calling it's probably just with 22, because who folds boats?
