Was playing around at NL5 to build my confidence to get back into online play. Playing live has been great, but I only get like 5 hours of sleep per night so I'm usually too exhausted to drive 30 minutes and put in the hours. I simply have to be able to play online as a full time poker player.
Anyway, the following happened vs a 70/40 monkey who I already had a note on that he just randomly bluff's stacks off for no apparent reason.

I raged and punched my 22" flatscreen and now theres green lines and shit going down the middle. Hopefully newegg has some deals on a 30" or somethin, that would be rad. This is my 3rd flatscreen I've ruined. Obviously it's not the money, I'm just very competitive and havent played online in a couple of weeks. So it's especially tilting after you take a break due to running bad, and then run bad vs the donkiest of players your very first night. I just want to quit again now.
only in my thoughts tho, lol
but yeah coaching has made my mind 10000% stronger, and my game so much better pre and postflop. running quite terribly still but i feel just so raaaaaaaaaaawr nao. wanted to share my "mental" heater
theres a screener available for this, just finished dling it. looks good.
well, i decided i hated the universe and that i wouldn't blog anymore like two months ago, but here i am doing it again.
after cariadon ripped up one of my earlier mixes, which is preserved somewhere in my blog-past, i got all sad, but really, he was pretty much right, and i still suck, but i don't really care.
so heres some music for about the one person that might download it. i've never tried rapid share, so its kind of a test.
it fits on a cd, and its just one continuous track of approximately 75 minutes.
probably my favorite track on the mix is tydi's stadium mix of maaybe by dr.willis and re-ward :O
OH and ps, i learned to play very badly on piano, i can do the entire song in about 9 minutes, after about 12 hours of total practice from not knowing any of it, plus i havent learned any piano songs in like 5 years! so.. .. brag? o_o
pokerwise march is terrible, i kind of had a mental breakdown after about my seventh discouraging day, so im on a couple days of break here while i try to recover and get back to it, net result is like -2600 so far, so its not the end of the world but its pretty disheartening i guess

Whats a good way to keep my lower body strong without going to gym and having equipment? I generally do squats/deadlifts...but its a pretty big time commitment to do this regularly in the next couple of years.
I wouldn't mind going for sprints or something like that around where I live for this. Also a consideration would be to keep my knees healthy in the long term. I want strong legs basically...Id probably mix in a couple trips to the gym during the month, but for those stretches where I dont go Its kinda important to have an alternative.
And what do you think is a good home workout for my upper body given that I only have a bench press and dumbbells. Im thinking about buying a pull-up bar, and something for my forearms. Don't have the money to shell out on a squat rack and kinda hesitant about shelling out money for an olympic bar and plates.
Wee...Today my team's manager said that he wants to see me alone and...I am getting £300/$450 extra out of the blue for my 5 months of hard work in 2009 :D
Its crap money you might say, but you must realise that I am on a student placement with 11 month fixed contract with no prior experience in my first non-menial job. The group our company is under (Lloyds Banking Group) made a combined loss of $9,000,000,000 last year, and there is nothing about bonuses in my contract at all.
Ship it, I don't even have to unlock it :o
Boring Life stuff
I am really glad that I decided to go for the placement. I have only 3.5 months left and I have to start writing reports to University, but thats irrelevant. What is really useful is the day to day stuff, time management, talking to people and a professional attitude that I pick up.
I will try to get a 1:1 (70%+ in all subjects combined) degree next year when I do my Honours project.
And my parents and GF wouldn't be glad to hear it, but I am doing this to have a real shot at Poker.
How will good degree and 1 work experience with good references help me in Poker?
Well its simple. I basically want to choose something I can do long term, and in poker that means to have the goal of being a high stakes/nosebleed player.
But from what I have seen its so damn hard when you are at NL100-NL400 to not be entangled with the burden of day to day expenses and the fact that Poker is your only solid option in life.
I want to think deep, play many variants, have proper swings and deal with them and never stop learning. But for that you can't keep it safe and grind your SNE and live off of rakeback, you have to take chances, take the hard way of thinking poker on few tables and take shots.
And thats something I couldn't do if I knew that if I am breakeven for longer time or busto...I am fucked.
Call it options in life, call it a safety net, but when I finish with the uni 1.3 years from now, I am sure that it will help me to go berserk and give Poker my best.
So I cashed out my roll, which was only like $650.
Then I decided I want to play again. I left $10 in my account.
So it is time to grind STT's. This time I want to try to hit $1,000 with STT only, no cash games.
Looking for people to add me on MSN and theory discuss, etc. Also, is STT games a good way to make FPPs? I'm on stars.
So far, i've been on a break from poker, and will continue playing again 1st week in April. This break is awesome so far, been doing great in school and only 12 more 12 hour shifts at the hospital and I finish! Life is good. Oh and here's some pics from my Mexico trip from December. Sorry for the long wait. Pics can be seen below, and btw, i had lots of fun in Mexico. And just in case your wondering, i didn't see Baal in Mexico
how much should one invest in a chair?by whamm!, March 08
my back beginning to hurt, i think its this damn substandard offc chair ive been using for months now.
im not looking to spend some serious dough on a new chair, but damn im not buying those made in china ones anymore, i sit a lot hours daily.
Played a 100 dollar mtt at my local casino.
Went well, and doubled my stack after like 3 hands with a rivered flush (money went in on the river)
Chipped up a bit more without showdown, and made some standard calls.
Went carddead for about 2-2.5 hours and chipped down to 12 bb. Managed to get a stack after that, and going into the FT I had like 26k (400/800) - meaning 3rd in chips or so.
Chipleader is a indian (not the cowboys & indians) but the ones that speak english funny.
The Indian is a donkey, and kept limping & foldning when he had <10bb. I switched tables and when I came back to his table, at the FT he suddenly had a tower of chips.
2nd hand of the tabled played out something like this:
A shorty with like 7-8bb raised to 3xbb, the indian called in the HJ, and the BTN 3bet isoded to 10xbb. The shorty tankfolded, and the indian called. Flop comes something like A-K-10 with 2 spades, the indian checks and the BTN bets, the indian tanks and calls. Turn is 8 (Board: A-K-10-8 with 2 spades) and the indian check calls again, River is the J of something (not spades). Board A-K-10-J-8, the indian checks and the BTN checks. The indian gladly announces he has 2 pair with KJ thinking he would take down the pot, but the BTN shows a set of 8's, and the shorty who folded pre said he folded AQdd (LOL?????).
Next hand, Indian is UTG or UTG+1 and minraises 400/800 to 1600, I'm in the CO or BTN (cant remember) and I tank 3bet to 7k (25k deep - indian covers). Flop comes 3-7-7- rainbow and I have 18k left, indian tanks and checks, I vbet 6k into 15k leaving me 12k to push any given turn card. He calls pretty quickly and turn is a Ace, board = 3-7-7-A and he checks and I think for a few seconds and push 12k. He insta calls, and I politely ask if he turned an Ace, he nods with a smirk on his face. I politely utter: "you stupid fish" and proceed to stand up, River bricks and I look at him, the table is shaking their heads.
I take the walk of shame down the steps, I swear a bit whilst taking a 10 minute walk home (trying desperately to reach someone whom I can talk to about the hand). Nobody answered, so I got ahold of balzamon when I got home on msn..
I am two thirds through my stability test where I have to play 30,000 hands 75%+ 4 tabling and rest 6 tabling at NL50 and make a steady profit. I am doing this to test my discipline before moving up/playing some HU, and to simply prove to myself that I can win steadily over a semi-decent sample which never happened since I started my job at the end of July 09.
As a byeffect I might lose my SN and move to Some noname euro site with 50%+ rb which would mean:
- Lose my Pokerstartegy access (They do have good math articles)
- Lose Tableninja
- Lose the perfect software
- Lose my Cool Avatar and 5 Stars
- Lose the personal feel it has with other people's avatars
- No VIP store, no fame from playing on known site
- Fewer promos, no fun freerolls
+ more rb money, when I need them in hard cash
+ Less addictive VPP shit, no pressure to play when I don't want to
+ More fish, less gay shorties on higher stakes
I am still undecided if I want to stay or not (I'd probably would have to 6 table more and multitable again at the end of the month, and during the following 3 months before my Job ends), especially with the prospects of September onwards where I will rely on poker for some 65% of my expenses.
I will not come back until I can make SN in less than 2 months if I lose it.
