decent day by BlizzY, March 26

So today I woke up at about 11 am, which is pretty early for me, because usually I go to bed around 3-5 am, so this thay started very soon :D I've done just some basic hygienic procedures and imediatelly started playing without having breakfast or anything(This is how my day starts if I finished previous day down ).

So session started pretty good, got dealt some good hands and setups, made some good plays, didn't lose many big pots, just got stacked once with AA vs flopped set of 3s

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163694
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163706 - here I was prepared to lay it down to allin probably but turn saved my day. I also think I played that turn pretty poorly, should've bet it

So after about 1k hands I was up about 4,5 BIs which is very good, and I decided to go out, get a haircut, have a lunch ect. That's my usual scenario when I am winning big, that I quit too early I think. The other scenario is that I lose all my profits and go down about 2-3 buyins more :D but that happened only at NL200 frequently.

I didn't really feel like playing the whole day, but 1k hands simply isn't enough, doesn't matter how up I am, because I don't have anything other to do just to play poker :D So I forced myself to play about 600 hands more, but I wasn't very focused and managed to go up 2 BIs more, so I am satisfied and I won't play anymore today...
some hands
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163896
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163903

So today there weren't any interesting hands that I was curious about, only situations that weren't too hard to play and profit

I am going to watch this Russian movie 9th companywhich I heard is pretty good and after that maybe read some poker book (I have quite a big collection, but I finished only maybe 3 of them... I just read some section from random book from time to time)

12 tableeeee! by TalentedTom, March 26

This is working out very decently - today I ran a 7k hand session and it felt like nothing. I'm so focused on playing each hand I don't have time to keep track of time or how much I'm up/down. It's a very cool change, this is what I've been trying to achieve for some time now and it's finally coming along.

On that note - I don't want to mix-up different stakes eg. 8 tables of 3/6 and 4 of 5/10 etc.. so the only stake that has 12+ 6-max tables running non stop is 2/4... which is kinda lame but I will try to find a way around it. Maybe in the future I will throw in some full ring tables*

http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/5088/12tableeetm7.jpg

This is today's session. 2/4 is a weird stake, I can make a killing on it if I decide to play there but I rather play 3/6 and 5/10 (esp 3/6, there are so many over aggro donkies)
What's also weird is that I thought I was playing tight - but apparently I give a lot of action, I thought my volume would be around 20ish but it's 25 - maybe that's why people keep playing back at me w/ trash

Back from Arizona!

Had a good trip, and I think I'll be spending the next week or two detoxifying all the booze/smoke/shitty food out of my system

Picture of me taking a break from all the fun activities

Woke up this morning ready to play! I played a few late night $3 SNG's while I was away, but nothing major. It took me a couple orbits to get back into the groove of 9 tables though.

Good session to start the week off

not so good session by BlizzY, March 25

So today I didn't really wanted to play, because yesterday my buddy celebrated his birthday and today I felt like shit

I watched a movie "The
Pledge"
, which I haven't seen for maybe 4-5 years, and Jack Nicholson still rocks

After that I played a ~1900 hands session mainly 7-8 tabling 6-max NL100 on stars (that's what I am going to do for the next month probably if I don't catch some sick heater)

this session started pretty slowly, I was losing money in small pots and after a while with no big pot lost, I was down more than 1 buyin...

Then this hand came up and I thought everything will go my way
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163530
this guy was the type of player I love to see at my tables

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163533 - thought this might be a good spot to 4-bet, because the 3-bettor was quite loose, but when he called, I didn't know what to do in that spot oop.... dunno about this hand

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163536 - not quite sure about this hand either, after the turn I thought I might have the best hand, maybe I should've checked for pot control, but didn't want to give free card to draws... On river after his push I felt I was beat, but couldn't fold with that odds.

After some beats, uncompleted draws, tilt plays I was down almost 4,5 BIs and was thinking about quitting the session but I had some massive fishes on some of my tables so I decided to keep playing.

Then this hand vs ULTRAfishy player who was running like 85/20/2 came up http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163539 - I thought for a while I was beat, because I've seen him bluff with all kind of shit, he was playing terrible (stacked him once before for 100bb) but I've seen him bet this big with some big hands so I didn't know really... but couldn't really do anything else but call...

after that I played some more, but I was feeling little bit tired so I stopped playing and watched a movie

not a great session, could've ended up if I didn't make some stupid plays, but I am happy I managed to cut the losses.

Here is the graph

first entry by BlizzY, March 25

Hello my name is Martin,I am 19 years old, and I am from Slovakia. I've been playing poker for 8 months now.

No one probably knows me but I used to play BW under nickname blizzy too... My biggest success was that I luckboxed it to the WCG 2004 in San Francisco, and after finishing 2nd in Slovak qualification in 2005 I quit.

Started with poker out of curiosity, seeing many BW players were quite succesful and I wanted to try something new, where I can compete and make some money too. I started at PartyPoker with the $75 promotion, worked my way up to $1400 and when the USA players ban came, I moved to Pokerstars. It was maybe the most -EV move of my poker carrer, seeing how the competition is now
Currently I am grinding NL100 on Stars, after I took a shot at NL200 and had a -$3000 downswing in ~15k hands, which wasn't very uplifting.
I am starting this blog mainly because I want to keep track of my results and of course I love to brag :D

I plan to make updates after every bigger session, so stay tuned and I hope you'll like it.

just a update by Xsho123, March 25

yea, just saying there was nothing special happened but I went on the biggest tilt yet on poker. Dropping my br under 200 is like wtf especially I made so much effort to build up and can actually play 25nl properly and all this have to be started again.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163461 maybe right play after I didn't bet flop but already got upset.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163465 the most rediculous slow down of my life
Then a couple of sick beat but I can't find them back because I cannot respond fast enough (I am usually stoned after a beat) to check the history on ub and I am not in the mood to check through every hand.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163450 omfg....I seriously think I am beat but I should have called him down just to confirm, what is another 5$ when you lost more than half your roll.

I am going to get pokertracker, heard from a friend that you can get it free when sign up to full tilt or something. So I will probably cash out all from ub and put it in FT if true then try to beat ub again when I got my pokertracker which hopefully will improve my game and see where I go wrong.

Just typing this out to release some stress + depression

So here are my results in numbers for first week, started from tuesday 20th of March 2007.

Iintroduction by BaB, March 25

Well, hello everyone, nice to be here with you :D I'm starting to write this blog mainly because of curiosity and because of sharing my thoughts about poker to wider public. In addition im going to play really a lot of poker for next 3 months, so some history comes handy for sure for me as well.

I think i'm pretty decent player, who is gaming poker like for a year now. I played Starcraft for like 5 years ( CDS)BaB ), so my ability to multitabling is pretty good and i feel like if i´m created for games like Poker :D Cashed out something like 2k $ so far. Well, its not much, but better than nothing. I was never playing for my own money, started with liquid poker free money on party.

Main reason Why am i writing here, seem so me like if i need some "pressure" on myself to be able to cover next 3 month of my gaming and liquid poker is very good place to acomplish this. Its good to know that im not alone who is probably be going to read and check my progress. In addition i will train my english skill ( sorry for it, i know... ).

So whats exactly am i writing about? In brief i'm going to play like 8 hours a day for next 3 month. Started in 20th of march 2007. I would like to cover here every of 12th weeks who is going to pass and be able to analyze my progress.

Why am i doing this? Well, im in situation, when i have quite a lots of time, have a need for some money and have the guts to try this. Next reason is, that im going to finish the neverending story in my mind : should i play poker, am i good in poker, would be poker profitable if i played fulltime and so on. At the end of this period (3 month) im going to resolve, whats my next move in my life.

My starting possition is: 350$ on hollywood poker, mainly FR player, but im going to play SH. If things goes well, looking to play NL50 at 1500$, NL100 at 3500$.

All comments are welcome, it would be great to discuss my progress with people whose going through similarly journey or are just curious/wanna help/abuse :D.

6max and variance are like two twins by PetrBlaha, March 25

Oh yeah that's right, I've never experience such a large variance at FR just look at this image of today's session

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/3122/graph2ly7.jpg

It's like completely nuts. Getting AQ on AQ4 board with villain holding 44 was ridiculous as me with KT on xxT board vs AT so after 20 minutes of session I was -2bi ! Thanks to Joe who cheered me up so I could continue playing without any bad mood. After 1k hand I've ended up about +1bi with 10bb/100 (my usual 15bb/100 wasnt quite possible with those beats but whatever )

Today I've also "developed" one strategic thought about cont. betting. Maybe it's common knowledge but I've just realized it so here it is: When the flop is without J,Q,K,A there is about 95% probability that villain will fold at your cont. bet because imagine with what villain is calling you with. Definately not two high pairs like TT+ because in that caise he would have reraised, definately not with two random small cards because those are too small to call raise. So what remains is small pocket pairs and two high cards like KJ, QK etc. Small pocket pair wont call you much unless he
1) has great read on you
2) is calling station
3) hit trips or has TP

but most time villain will have those KJ, KQ or whatever with which he really can't call you.

So I've set up this small rule for me. If the board is dry without any card T+ I will always bet (and 95% of time win )
[/blah ! ]

26th March 07
BR : 775$ (+25$)
stakes :0.10/0.25$ 6max

UPDATE
I've played a bit more this night and again I've started with some nasty -2 bi after about again 20 minutes but again (!!)I've managed to end in +numbers

27th March 07-night

NL25 by Critterer, March 25

All i seem to get from nl25 is mass suckouts and coolers, i dont understand how i can run so bad, its retarded. I'm playing well i think but just runner runner straight, set under set, etc etc. Its really demoralising and i dont feel like playing poker anymore, i know its just variance but playing solid poker and losing to retarded 2pair combos, runner runner straights, runner runner flushes etc all when the money is in way ahead its just pissing me right off.

Another session ended just now down 2 buyins, pure fucking setups, shit like i manage to hit top boat and hes got 4 of a kind, great stuff. Why me?

Overall at nl25 im slightly up but its just retarded how shit my winrate is becuase of these suckouts. Im not enjoying 6max atm my variance is so much huger.

Heres some retarded hands, all within 1000 hands.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163193
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/163176 i know i played this one bad but doesnt change the outcome

Random update for ya'll to ignore! by PokerDoc88, March 25

Okay so its been a coupla weeks since I updated my blog. So I'll be as brief as possible in filling it with as much crap as I can.

Poker related crap: My br is $1.2, peaked at $1.4, but -4bi ain't nothing to cry about. Played about 10k hands at 50nl 6-max, not as good progress as hoped but a combo of some bad calls and suckouts has really hampered me.

I got my cheque from PS and so with a few thousand under my belt I thought I'd try to start a live BR at the casino. I took $150 with me and spewed it all at some lucky sons of bitches. Nothing to discuss, once again a combo of suckouts and bad play sent my money flying.

Kantoiki, my poor friend Kantoiki, is busy dealing with life beats. I haven't seen any one go on a bad run such as he. He is down like 15bi and only 3 of these at most could be due to 'bad play'. And this isn't bad play as in, calling your stack off with AA on a turned flush board. This is bad play as in, busting with KK vs AA all-in preflop when its pretty obvious villain has AA (and many people in these spots would never ever ever advocate folding KK here). The sickening suckouts combined with the netteller 3k anal rapage has really upset him. He's dealing with it far better than I ever could...every one go over and read his blog, his posts are hilarious and spirited even though he's being fucked by the poker gods.

I played some FFXII today, haven't really touched it coz it just doesn't...appeal to me. I love FF games but FFXII just doesn't cut it, it's really lost a lot of the magic of past games. I'm busy waiting for God of war II to release here on Thursday. And Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and FFVI should be arriving in the mail for my DS some time this week.

Uni sucks as always, although now we're learning about the heart, which would make Mike Matusow proud! "You gotta have heart!!!" Unfortunately Mikey, you also gotta have brains...

In all honesty, the heart is the most interesting thing I've learnt about so far in my course. I have a stupid 2.5k word assignment due next Monday, all about epidemiological bullshit. And I have a mini-test tommorow morning, which I haven't been able to study for because the faculty website decided to shit its pants and stop working.

Oh well, now that I've wasted about 5 minutes of your life by relating some mundane bullshit going on in mine, you might be bored enough to open up some poker tables and start GAMBOOLING!!! So get to it LPers! Stop reading this trashy post and go and bank it up (or you can piss away your br and deny it was ever your fault, blaming it instead on BAD BEETS!)!

balling out by nolan, March 24

I've been baller status lately.

Anyone who has ever been to New England, the weather is so absurd. It was 60 this morning, and theres about 6 inches of snow on the ground right now (midnight). So annoying.

I'm thinking of moving when I graduate next year, in fact I'm set on it. Preferably to another country whose official language is english/spanish/french. Any non U.S. citizens got some suggestions? Information on cost of living/good places to pick up foreign women/transportation systems would be helpful.

Cheers, Sean.

Converting to 6max isnt that easy :/ by PetrBlaha, March 24

Yeah title says it all, I've payed for this lesson so far about 200$ but finally I feel like I'm capable to play a decent style so far.

I've read some great articles here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=8857864&an=0&page=0
I've got some excel sheet with which hands and how I should play PF so after a little read and adjustement I've started to feel better about my game.

It was very but VERY brutal to change style from one week to another. Previous week I was that nitty player who seemed to overbluff his hand and today I've raise ATs and other hands I've never thought I will ever raise but somehow it works fine, if I dont run into Ms. Variance (JJ vs TT river T and stuff like this everyone knows...)

This is a little bit of my graph today at PP afternoon session. Even with 3bad beats I've got 11bb/100 hands !

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/452/graph1dy5.jpg

I've cleared some bonus on pokersavvy so I'll be able to buy for free there PA and PT , YAY !

25th March 07
BR : 750$ (+30$)
stakes :0.10/0.25$ 6max

after downswing to 650$ it looks cool
