Well, after 35k hands at 25NL I will in the next few days be moving on up to 50NL. It's been a long and uneventful ride. The game 25NL I can beat very easily and understand its dynamics no problem. When I play my A-game I do just fine. Unfortunately due to a lack of focus and concentration and dedication to playing a lot of hands every day I've spent rather longer on 25NL than I intended. That being said I think the month and a half has taught me some lessons and I think moving up through the stakes one by one has its value. I shall pledge to play 5k hands per day for my summer break off university which runs from may through to the first of september. Thats all for now guys, wish me luck.
By looking at my own hands, I can see which ones are leaking for me. I’ve cut out Ax, KQo, AJo completely as they just leave me in murky situations. Cut back on the suited connectors, playing them with position. Been cutting down on my calling alot too, its mostly either raise or fold now, playing this way just makes things clearer.
I’m playing just 2 tables and getting awesome reads on my opponents play styles, making hardcore notes and such.
Definitely helps me feel a lot more comfortable on these tables, I know pretty much what I am up against when I play a hand now, its leading to a lot fewer mistakes.
Once I’ve Identified a player’s type, for example nit or caller or (rarely) over aggressive monkey, it’s a lot easier to put them on a hand.
Good: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186790 Think this hand went how it was supposed to. Opponent was a rock. Maybe could have bet more on river... not sure how to extract fully. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186191 gotta watch those 2 pair on a paired board... but I got it in before the board paired, so I think this was played correctly
Bad: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186787 maybe I'm too aggressive. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186778 This hand is educational I think. a classic line is there, flat flop then raise turn. But I missed it cause my hand just hit. I must pay attention to whats happened when I get raised, him hitting a Q is not the most likely hand here. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/183806 OK, now this hand I want to remember. DON'T SHOVE WITH 2 PAIR WHEN THE BOARD IS PAIRED.
I've played 5700 hands so far in the first 4 days of May, which is less then i would have liked but its certainly not bad. I'm hoping to get 2k+ in per day so i can reach 60k hands for the month.
Decided to make a blog just now here cause the lp.net community is my favorite and i figure this will be a good place to vent / discuss things.
I'm a 21 year old student from cal poly university (california). I mostly just drink with my bros and go to class sometimes (taking a break from school atm actually). Trying to get a little more into poker.
This has been my best day so far since i started playing with pockertracker. Up 8 buyins. No graphs yet since ive only played 10k hands and dont fully know to use the program. Looking to move up from 10nl to 25 / 50 soon. Playing overolled at the moment just getting comfortable online.
I just finished my last final exam, but all my friends have exams tomorrow morning so not partying tonight I just played a quick session and decided to quit while I was ahead because I had a swingy session last night. I think there must be mad fish playing on friday nights or something because they did all the work for me stacking off with TPGK and air all session.
I am trying to get in more hands this month and Im gonna be posting more of my hands to get some feedback on my play..I am also looking for a coach to help my game along to the 5/10 type games... anyways heres my grpah and some hands from my first couple of seshes this month
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186654 - considered raising on the flop but decided Id rather see the turn...I dont think I want to get AI on flop 260BBs deep or w/e
My BR is about 160 an this weekend i expect to move to NL10, got some beats todays, but I think they were all standard beats.
I'm 8 tablin, played more than 3k wednesday. In 170 I started to 9 tablin but got some beats and went back to 8. The consequences of getting some beats is my post here.
I'll not stop playing NL5 and suddenly open some NL10 tables, i'll gradually start to open NL10 tables and keep playing some NL%. I'll do something like that:
BR 200 is enought to NL10, I'll be 9 tabling and when my BR hit 205 i'll change 1 table from NL5 to NL10. On 210 another... and so on...
Hey All. Been just on the grind lately, running pretty poorly. The last two days have been brutal with awful suckouts left and right. Had a couple two-outers (set vs. overpair) for 300bb pots and some other random BS. Here's the obligatory stats and graph of yesterday's results.
I've obviously been playing way too much full ring lately as is evident by my stats, if I played a little looser I'm sure I could have boosted my winrate, really dumb of me.
In other news I need to decide if I'm going to vegas this summer, and I also need to figure out how to dance a little better.
So I played pretty badly for a stretch of 10 days in April, not to mention running bad too. I just find i play soooo bad when I run bad, its annoying, i need to work on it. Here is what April 20-30th looked like:
I think I will just continue to play 100 nl until I get out of school and then when i start playing every day in the summer i will try to see how i feel about moving up. Still don't know what i really want from poker, if it is just small amounts of money i should just stay at 100 nl for life... if its a lot i should consider climbing the limits this summmer.
Alright well have a good one and, hey, be safe with yourself.
So I decided that I would start playing a lot more online mtts for a couple reasons. First I would like to improve my mtt game and its a great way to practice. And secondly, I think that there is a lot more dead money in mtts than cash games, so it could be very profitably.
Tonight I decided to play 4 tournaments. The 22r and 100r on stars, and the nightly 150 on both stars and ftp.
So 8:00 rolls around and I am scrolling through the tournament lobby when I see this big stud tournament. I was like SWEET I LIKE STUD IM GOING TO PLAY. So I register for it without even reading what it really was. Turns out I entered a 7stud play money tournament.
And since I registered for the thing less than 10 minutes before it started, I couldnt unregister. So along with my cash games and other tournaments I would be playing a 7stud play money tournament.
My table opens up and of course I recognize nobody, although I'm sure there were a few sharks mixed in there. My guess is Joe Awada and Ted Forrest were using secret accounts and were at my table. It was a real blood game. Pretty much 90% of the hands were 7 way to 4th street, cause I was the only one who folded.
So a few minutes go by when I see something in the top left of the table that I hadnt yet noticed cause I was playing a lot of tables.
So anyway, I play it for a while and eventually bust . I was very upset and expected much better. I probably could have folded this last hand for my last 238 but I felt pot committed with my 2 pair and 4 flush:
yada yada yada, i build a monster chip lead with 12 people left and have about 35% of the chips in play, and hold the chip lead all the way to hu, fall behind a bit, but then pull back ahead and take the shizzle down.
Played an online session that went okay this afternoon, cashed $200.
Played the live game again tonight, and I think I played quite poorly. I made $150, but I really didn't play very well - but whatever, I guess I keep going to that game since I don't have to play that great to get paid.
Today I played horrible and had one of my worst swings ever at $25NL, down $80 over 3k hands I ran pretty bad but mostly I'm frustrated cause I feel I'm not playing my best, but honestly there a few crazy suckouts but I made a few too. FUCK! Ever time I run bad it messes with me, pisses me off and makes me kinda hate poker haha. I haven't been playing much either so tomorrow I'm gonna try to pull a crazy long session and if it doesn't work out fuck it I'm gonna get a job like I said when I made this blog.
OOOOOK, so i moved my $1500 roll to FTP thn started grinding out the nl50dmy pahud doest work there but o well, my roll is now at $2300 and ima move up at like 3.2k or so, holler at your boy.
I downloaded the program from pokertracker.com. Can anyone share use experience with this program, i.e. is it safe to run, no bugs etc., do you find it helpful?
Ok ok so it's not exactly TwistedEcho doing the card trick in this video, but it sure sounds like him! Pretty sweet trick, I've been practicing it for a while and I am pretty sure I got it down.
