Feeling Great by tae-g, May 03

I only have 1 final exam left until schools out, and I just played the best session of my career. I've dropped down to 4-tables and I've been trying to concentrate hard every single hand. If it weren't for 2 suckouts I'd be up ~$85 on the day (a lot for me), but I didn't even mind the two beats much because I could tell I was playing my A game. (One was AI on the flop my TT vs his overcards and he hit one on the river, the other was my set of aces vs his flush draw AI on the turn).

I do have one question to pose to you guys though...

Is this horrible? I know folding sets at micro is so weak and this was probably free money, but I had bottom set and I knew it would doomswitch me if it was set over set or he sucked out a flush or he had a combo draw or something so I let it go.

A decent win this morning?!

Pretty mild session actually. I was basically break-even all morning long except for one big hand.

Didn't really lose any big ones; tough laydown with AA on a scary board though.

Alright, bloggytime by thewh00sel, May 03

Okay, so I never really figured out how to import my blog when i was doing some sort of money challenge or whatever, so i'll just give you guys a general update of my poker life here.

April was break even. I had an 8k downswing in the middle of the month and spent the rest of the month recovering, finished down about $100 total. I think i'd like to become an MTT donk. I definitely like playing them 10x more than cash games and you can have those big scores which are obviously hella nice. The downside is, you have to deal with shit like this in last night's 100 rebuy at the final table:

Bleh, annoying as shit. this hand would put me in 1st place with a good chance at a top3 finish. First place was like 24k. Instead I end up with a 2k prize and a sad face. Well whatever, I really like this tournament though and I think i'll play it on a regular basis. It's a tough field but I think it's beatable for a solid ROI. Anyways, this is my blog, I'll try to update more often than once a month...

not too bad by SneakrFreakr, May 03

So I didn't play any poker on Tuesday. I went to this birthday party and first we went to some italian resturant where I had some fettucini alfredo pasta or sth like that. Basically it tastes like pasta from microvawe with the difference that it costs like 20 times more. We started drinking at the campus later but I was pretty tired so I got home pretty early. Boringaments.

Yesterday I played a morning session on i4 and I made about $80. Should've been more but I was talking on a phone in the end of the session and fucked up a few hands. Then I decided to play a session on Party and the agression was much lower than a few days ago. I played good, didn't get any major beats and finished up almost 3 buyins (too ashamed to show my nitty stats):

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5963/p9sq9.jpg

Nothing special happened during that session but I made a few nice moves in reraised pots and once in multiway raised pot.

Today I played on i4 again and was running fuckin hot for the first hour or so. Hitting sets left and right, donks paying off with garbage etc. Then I played and ugly hand:

I called his preflop reraise since we were about 250bb deep and it was so small. Plus his range was quite wide here and I could easily take the pot away from him. When he checked the flop (he never did it before after 3betting preflop) I knew he's got a monster, probably a set or two pairs so I checked behind hopinh to hit a J. And I did. We got it in (before shoving he asked "kk?") but the river helped him, rather than me. Oh well.

But I ended the session being up about $100 anyway so it's ok. But I was pretty happy with how I handled this beat (well he had like 22-23% to win it on turn so it wasn't that much of a beat). It was 500bb that I lost on the river but I haven't said anything and you wouldn't even see a grim on my face. I think I'm doing much better at handling such stuff now, and soon after this hand happened I realized that I'm a bit tired and not playing my best so I finished the session.

Nom I'm gonna make a dinner for myself and study for a few hours. My test is in just two days and I don't want to study tommorow so I'll just finish everything today and chill for the whole day tommorow (but I'll prolly play some poker anyway). Holla

How tight? by trukpoker, May 03

Lately, it seems i just cannot play any looser then 17/14. I raise so many hands, from so many positions and yet it seems my stats say i am an extremely tight player. My question to LP.net is how do some people achieve 25/20 statistics? They must raise some insanely trash hands to achieve those stats. This style cannot be optimal for 50-100nl because i am yet to see a winning player that is that loose. SHoudl i even try to loosen up yet, or is 17/14 solid?

Most successful players seem to play around 25/20. therefore it must be the ideal style but an extremely hard one to achieve. Some people have told me 6 tabling could be another factor to my tightness because i dont have the time to be playing so many hands.

My May goals are to achieve
-50k hands at nl50
-try to maintian winrate over 10bb/100
-play the 3k,8k, and 17k rebuy twice a week
-study poker more and fix my many leaks

I won my biggest hand ever today, i raised 34s utg on a tight table and this 6 buyin pot is what followed, woot

I thought id share this nice link of 2+2 threads on different topics, its pretty handyhere

peace.

Totally Random Dream by JonnyCosMo, May 03

So for some reason last night I went to sleep and had this short dream and quickly woke up only to find that I only slept for like 2 hours. Fuck. Dont really remember what I was dreaming about either. So I made some coffee for myself at like 5:00am this morning, and decided I'd plug in a poker session. I'm quickly up like $650 and cruisin, then I lose $400 in litterally a span of 10 hands and mentally lose it which brings me to the following hand:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/informatio...Take_this_to_the_trash_can._AK...html

He might as well turn his hand face up. Yet I pay him off like the retard that I am. I played for 30 mins after this and ended the session down $150 total for a nice $800 downswing from my peak. Wonderful. It is around this time that I remember exactly what I was dreaming about last night...

...So in Vegas last week we are at a Liqour Store to pick up a few drinks before we headed off to Treasures. The store clerks were outside laughing their asses off at some old lady that was at the counter. "That lady is going to try to talk your head off" one of them said to us as we entered the store. So Lyric and Mango were in-line behind this crazy lady who was still at the counter talking to the poor guy working behind the counter. Daut, Mogen, and myself were just standing off to the side, as this crazy lady comes up to us. She then starts going off on some just random cracked out shit yo. She proceeds to give us the following good advice:

"Take care of your health"

"Buy lottery tickets and make mad moneys yo~"

* Touches my arm *

"Dont lose what you win from the lotto on cruises and drugs"

"Dont do drugs"

"Take care of your health"

* Starts petting my arm *

"Gambling is bad, don't gamble! Just play the lotto."

"Drugs are bad, Crack kills"

I'm just smiling and nodding through this entire episode with the crazy lady and when she finally walks away we all kinda burst up laughing at how crazy this lady was. She was mad busto in the brain.

Ok so back to what this has to do with the dream I had last night: In my dream, I'm playing online poker, running like shit, but not caring because I had a lottery ticket. Somehow I knew I was going to win or I had already won with it or something because I was playing really wreckless poker. At the end of my dream I somehow get to talking to this same crazy lady and she tells me I need to stop playing online poker and start playing the lottery. LOL.

After this morning's session, maybe the crazy lady knows what she was talking about??? Here's a smile for everyone:

Another video by DustySwedeDude, May 03

http://rapidshare.com/files/29221202/5393959000.rar.html

I figured that I've complained to much and such in my last 2 blog posts so I made another video to make up for it. I play a bit tighter in this one since ppl havn't been giving me much respect lately. There aren't that many big pots except a few decent pre flop calls. It's about 1 hours of 4 tables and I ran decent enough without playing that good. I didn't get camstatia to work as it should yesterday so I'll try to fix that too.

First Live Experience by CrownRoyal, May 02

So today was my buddy's 18th birthday and he wanted someone to go to the casino with him so we got a few people rounded up drank some and headed to the casino after baseball practice. I was planning on just blowing 40 bucks or so on the slots but the casino we went to has running poker tables at all hours of the day so I headed upstairs to the cardroom and found out they had a 3/6L, 1/2NL and .25/.50 "budget" Limit game running. I signed up for the 1/2 and the budget game and about 10 minutes or so later i got called up for the 1/2 nl game.

I bought in for $200 and the very first hand I got dealt KK, I literally checked my cards 25 times in disbelief and I was nervous as hell. I was UTG and raised to 8 pf and got called by the BB. Flop was AK8, he checked to me and I bet 12, he folded. T_T perfect flop for kk.

didnt play very many hands for the next while, found myself in a huge limped pot with T8s and limped in on the button. Flop came T75 uncoordinated. I bet like 15 into a pot of 20 and got called by one guy, I put him on a 7 or 5, he looked pretty unconfident. Turn came a 4, he checked and I bet 25, he went into the tank for a bit and called, at this point I had him on some type of a draw, I couldn't really puth im on anything at all. River was a 6 giving me 2nd nut straight and im pretty confident the nuts, he checked and I bet 35 hoping for a crying call from whatever he had, he called, showed 33, i showed my 8 and took down a nice pot.

him 34567
me 45678

those were essentially my only two hands worthy of discussing, the players there were terrible and I had 0 room to make any type of plays, pretty much I would compare the skill in the room to a NL10 table. I plan on going back there a lot especially when i start my job and can completely afford to play and not necessarilly play like a nit like I did. All in all I think most of the people there think I was a retard and I tried to act like a clueless fish the best I could which is pretty good for my metagame. I hope I can go back this saturday.

start: $200
end: $275 + $15 in blackjack winnings.

Wednesday by fishsticks, May 02

Beautiful day out today. Slept in, and took the dog to the park for a while. Fun in the sun.

Played an afternoon session for a few hours. +$300 on the session.

Two full stack losers though that I don't know how I feel about.

1) I have AKs, raise in the CO, button cold calls me. He is BAD, and I'm already psyched. Flop comes Q82 so I make a standard cbet, and he minraises me. I had seen this junk before, and I felt confident he wasn't strong based on past history. I elect to just call and take a turn, with a plan to move him off his hand. Turn comes a three, giving me 4-flush to the nuts. I check to him, he half pots it, and I checkraise all in (he was about 100BB and I had him covered so it wasn't an overbet or anything). He SNAPCALLS with 98o, I whiff the river, and MHING. Yowsa - fo shizzle buddy?.

2) I have TT in EP, raise it, get 3bet from the blinds by a relatively loose player - although I hadn't seen them 3bet from the blinds at all so I have her on JJ+/AQs here. We're a little deep, so I take a flop in position playing basically for set value, and she's the type that just might c/f AK on a raggy board. Flop comes QQT. YAHTZEE! She checks, I pot it, quick call. Turn is a 9. Again, check, pot, quick call. River is a J. She has about a 3/4 pot bet left, and pauses and pushes it in. Shitballs. At this point I'm confident it's not AA/KK/AK, and I'm pretty sure I'm against AQ (which is good) or JJ (which is bad). I feel pretty strongly it's JJ, as I don't think she's a slowplayer. Whatever, I call anyways expecting the riverboater to take all my chips, and sure enough it's JJ. I know standard logic says snapcall, but given my reads I really felt I could have let that one go and I just didn't make the fold. Oh wells.

Two days of grinding has me up $900 this week so far. I'm not playing live tonight, as I'm tired and I'm just gonna watch American Idol from the other night and get a good night's sleep. Hoping to grind another couple hunge out tomorrow, as I'm probably out of town this weekend (that means you Drew - any chance we can make an AC run hehe?)

Alright session this morning. Few tough decisions, but I couldn't stack a full stack to save my life. Picked my tables pretty poorly to be honest, but I just hate waiting in line for a table, and these were the only ones available This is probably something I should work on.

Leaks and stuff by DustySwedeDude, May 02

So I've lost like 6 bi or something so far in May. The good thing is that it's mostly due to set-ups like FH vs FH or Flush over flush. It happends. Also, I think I've found myself a few leaks. I tend to pay people of with good hands even if they're repping a better one. I can't lay down decent things. Also, I need to pay attention to shortstacks. Those faggots tend to push over my raises a little to often and it's very, very -ev for me to have two shortstacks in the blinds when I'm in LP. Also, I need to go a lot more with my gut when it comes to bluffing. I the A hits the river and I put him on a overpair I should just push instead of chickenin' out.

gah by Rush, May 02

So for the last month I've been playing NL300 live. 5 days a week for 4-6 hours a day. Have only played like 8k hands online this month. I'm down about 2K in the NL300 game even though its so fucking soft. I run really really really bad there. So thats fun. Just felt like typing this out. I just cashed out about 700$ from my Stars account to pad my live BR which has gone from about 5k to close to 2.2K. So yeah that was fun. Peace.

Live Poker - (-2K)

Hopefully I can update everytime and see how much I can win back considering I'm the 2nd best player in that card room.

Moving up to medium stakes by Forrest Gump, May 02

Well, after a year trying to learn how to play poker, I decided this weekend to move up with my 5K Roll to NL200 full ring

27/04/07:
I came 3rd into the $11 shorthanded PS tourney, winning $510. Now I can play NL200 with this I tought
Notes: -$22 in tournament buy ins

29/04/07:
Well, first session of NL200, here I am
With only 251 hands I earned $455. Very sick run to be the first session. Also I have to enphatize that was Saturday and the players were horrible. Then I left becouse I wanted to do some other stuff
Notes: -$30 at PLO, +$100 with an Empire bonus

30/04/07:
I played the Lp weekly for the first tome and came up 3rd. Nice. ($48 prize)

31/04/07:
I talked to my parents becouse they were worried becouse I was smoking/eating marijuana. It was a good talk to me and them to clarify a lot of things
(Drugs arrived Argentina very late compared to Europe and USA, so it was too new for my parents)
I didnt played today

01/05/07:
Second Session of NL200. I played 670 hands to win $250. This time I played a lot more liberal and I had big swings, but in general players dont seems to be very good.
Notes: -$32 in tournaments

02/05/07: Im here writing this stuff thinking why there's not a tlpoker.es
About NL200, I tought it was gonna be harder and I was gonna be playing tighter. But players are more straightforward than NL100 and that makes them more readable. Im sure they are better hand readers than NL100, but anyways seems to be beatable

New Month by fishsticks, May 01

So the rest of April after my last entry was uneventful. I didn't play a whole ton, and broke around even for the time I played.

The first day of May I had a small winner, but gave it all back screwing around with Turbo STTs on Full Tilt - I thought I enjoyed them at first and now I feel I'm just pissing money away with them. Such high variance I feel I'd need a HUGE sample to show a consistent profit. Screw it.

Today I "got serious" again and put in some solid time. Won $300 at the online tables today - lost a 150bb hand flopping middle set vs someone else's top set near the end to prevent a $500 winner, doh.

Decided to play in the weekly live action donkament the place that runs my preferred local game has on Tuesday, and ended up cashing $320 ($250 net). Played a little cash after and won $50. Game was soft but I was tired and playing like shit, so I wrapped it up.

My dog is whining BADLY as I'm writing this, and it's pissing me the fuck off. I don't understand what he wants, he never does this and he JUST double-barreled the yard. WTF buddy?

So, yah - I won $600 today in total. Gotta have the discipline to grind out some solid sessions over the next few days.

Edit: If using profanity on these blogs is not kosher someone please just leave a comment and let me know (I don't know LP's policies and such)
