Well I'm in rica right now and there's a casino in the hotel. They have 3 holdem tables spreading 1$/2$ NL cash games. That is way above my BR, so I figured I wouldn't get to play. But my stepdad decided to stake me cause he knows I play and wanted to see if I was any good... he mainly wanted me to lose so he could give me lots of shit.
He wouldn't do a full buyin but he put up $100. I took it and played very tight for about an hour and a half and turned it into $310. Was a nice feeling. A few times I had to work to think of the chips as just chips and not think about how much they were worth so that I wouldn't play scared. Was weird winning hands and making more off one pot than an entire long painful session at NL10.
Only played 4 hands voluntarily and like 3 hands outta the BB limping in. Trapped an aggressive guy w/ my Aces and doubled up on him, and won 2 other nice pots. It's weird playing live.... haven't done that in ages and only used to play live with close friends in home games. Still learning how to read people and keep on some sort of poker face, heh.
Well it took a while, but I finally got the tournament cash I needed to spice up my PS roll again.
(what also took a while was that deepstack shit, 13 hours man...now i can remotely imagine what WCOOP FTers must feel like)
I was kind of discouraged by my performances in the last two months losing about 1k at tournies, since I havent had a major cashes during that time. I had really doubted my tournament play as of late, but with another FT at the 3+r and this now I feel confident again that I can be a +EV tourney player at least for everything between 1$ and 109$ buy in for now. I should have enough on PS now to handle the variance that comes along with it.
I'll definitely have to start reviewing and discussing hands more.
It feels good to have added a significant amount to my br, which should now be around 8,7k. I have 3,6k at stars, which means that I dont have to redeposit all the time when I feel like playing lp tournies :D or play satelites when I'm in sunday warmup/million shot taking mood.
Unfortunately due to the semester restarting in about 3 weeks I won't be able to have long tourney nights like this one anymore. But I'm just glad that I won a tourney with more than 180 for once
I was like I don't remember but 10k+ FPP away from getting the 40" LCD TV from PStars so I decided to get up early and play 1/2 full ring 12 tabling until I had the FPP.
Graph says im up 4$ but,as you can see from PT stats I'm not.
Due to bonus and RB,I AM up but still...
FTP disguists me,I really dislike it.8 max tables hillarius bad beats and coolers, and the fact im going trough a rollercoaster everyday doesn't thrill me.
Been having a really rough time and all I'm waiting for now is the October 10th when I am able to cash out my RB and by then I should clear all my bonus on FTP,so I'll be moving back to stars, maybe even noiqpoker or carlospoker due to RB/Fish.
But I think It'll be Stars because I just love to play there and the money isnt my main goal.
Getting better and making money is,and the place for that is Stars ofc!
Also thoughts on my agression stats are thnx.
Love ya all!
EDIT:Big thanks for whoever linked me up to prior threads about Poker books when I started in main Poker,I am enjoying Barry Greenstein's Ace on the river for the past two days, the human factor thing where he speaks about the plays in Casinos is not that interesting for me,cuz I'm obviusly online only. But the rest is.
This is a pretty huge session given that I 4 table. A few hands were probably from yesterday night however.
I was on some sick tilt (although it never REALLY had time to show up in my play, as I fortunately won a few gigantic pots often enough to keep my mood up) due to this fish sitting at 3 of my tables and never evereverever folding to my cbets, always folding to my double value barrels and always calling my bluffs.
Then pokertracker crashed while I was trying to review his hands when he took some fishy strong line and I ended up timing out with QQ only to have him show 52suited for no pair gutshot draw - sick life. Was a hard spot since last time he took a similiar line he showed up with trips, only this time he was in position.
Fortunately he left, so my bankroll didn't die. He truly was destroying me so ego aside it was a good thing he left. Maybe he just ran lucky, maybe he just had me read perfectly, but I honestly didn't have a single read on him after several hours of play
Took some horrendous beats but there's just so many bad players here at NL300 that in the end I finished up pretty big. Some guy decided it was a good idea to stack off with JJ in a 4 bet pot on a king high board.
Allin on turn, K543 flop, the river brought a 2 which was mildly womit inducing until he turned over his JJ :D
Anyway, I'll post hands later maybe, played for like 8 or 9 hours with only short breaks.
Oh, had my biggest ever stack at 1600 :D Would have been insanely close to 2000 as I was allin with QQ vs 99 and JTo (lol), with the 99 being more or less fullstacked and JTo guy having 30bb.
I've not been doing good, I lost something around 4 buyins as of yet. I made a many mistake for sure, I think the main one was not data mining enough before playing. I started and I couldn't get quite an idea of who is who. Now I'm in a better mood/setting to play but I'm still doing so-so vs some regulars.
My main concern is playing low overpair on low board vs regulars. Very hard to play especially when you are OOP. However I am confident I will be able to play NL100 constantly in some time from now. If my bankroll drop under 3K (excluding RB) then I will switch to NL50 until I make it back again. I have 3.2k now so I'll see how it goes. I don't feel bad at all, it was really hard to switch NL25 to NL50 at first and I'm ready to play even more!
My first session at NL100 was really weird, I think I hit KK around 30 times and made around 50$ with all of them lol. I hope I can post more hands that puzzled me, I had a few but didn't get the time to save them. Been playing some sc too for fun on iccup. 6-0
according to Pokertracker i am down 25 $ for today
according to my Party account i am up 26 $ for today ...
strange ....
can it be that some hands werent recorded due to party having some problems duing my session.
I noticed that at some point party didnt refresh and i couldnt see the players sittting at tge tables in the lobby menue
I also couldnt rebuy nor join another table ... but i could play and i won a 62 $ and a 40$ pot during that period.
however i ve kinda recovered from my down and
am up 223$ when i take my BR - my BR of the beginning of the month.
160 €
not too bad for me
Edit _
yeha i looked for these Pots in PT and in fact they are missing
Edit 2
238 $ now
171 €
since i have exams comming up i think i wont play any poker more for this month.
Third Milestone Reached!!!!by wobbly_au, September 23
Third Milestone = 200000k vpp. wooohoooo
Poker has been both extremely satisfying and stressful for me as I am a full time student doing my last semester at Uni. I picked up poker during December or January last year, but didn't really play any until June 20th this year due to a busy schedule. Poker has always been a really fun hobby of mine, but my main focus will remain on completing my degree in computer science and my two major projects.
At this point in time I really don't know what to do with poker, I don't know if I should take it more seriously and try to further improve my game and move up limits or just keep grinding out the midstakes. I know that I am not ready and have much to learn before I have a positive expectation with the highstake players and plus I have a great graduate position lined up for me next year at Deloitte so maybe I'll keep poker on the side for the fun & extra cash. I simply feel I have more potential in the business world.
But you never know, the Johnny inside me might come out again and make me move up.
So any way since June 20th my stats are as follows
Start: June 20th
Start BR: $1,200
Start Limit: 50NL
End Date: September 23rd
End Br: $44737.01 (cashed out like $7k)
End Limit: 400NL-600NL
Total Hands played: 354185
Hands Per Day: 2095
Total Hours: 584.70
Hours Per Day: 3.46 hours
I guess I should probably play these more often. Today's result;
PokerStars Tournament #61161476, Pot Limit Omaha
Buy-In: $10.00/$1.00
155 players
Total Prize Pool: $3290.00
Tournament started - 2007/09/22 - 23:15:00 (ET)
Dear Bejamin1,
You finished the tournament in 2nd place.
A $641.56 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
You earned 177.01 tournament leader points in this tournament.
The hand that ended it. Guess I should have found a fold here but head's up it's hard to fold a good full-house. Sad thing is he was a push-over so I probably could have easily won in a prolonged heads-up which we had plenty of room to do.
All and all though this donkament was pretty fun as I became chip-leader with around 60 players left and rarely relinquished it from that point onward. BULLDOZIN'

I was doing the strategy where you double your bet everytime you lose (Martingale I later learned) and ran 120 up to 140, then busted on a series of bad run
dealt AA on a $8 bet with dealer showing... dont remember. Anyways I split like any sane person would and scored 21 and 19, dealer got 21, gg me.
ps: Mr. Brooks was good, so was Fracture. But The Royal Tenebaums sucked. Need more movie suggestions/recommendations while I push through the next week of my poker abstinence
edit:
I have 99cents on UB left, anyone want to send me a penny so I can go buck to wagering $1 on bj?
The past 3 days have been very good for the BR and I think I'm going to move up to 25NL ring games. My BR was at ~$325 just a few days ago, and I've taken to $5.50 single-table SNGs to build up faster. I thought I'd try it out and it's been working, so I'm going to keep at it for a while and see how that goes.
I've been running 6 SNG tables for the last few days, and I might start playing the $11 SNGs. I'm just glad to be done with the micro donkament FOs and move up to the low-limit MTTs. w00t
Ok so I decided to take a shot at 1.5/3 and played a quick session 2 tabling NL300 with 2 x 200NL tables as well (since there's not a lot of 300NL tables).
Made about 1.5 buyins. Took a break for a few hours and started another session.. Bleh, a loot of coolers (AA vs turned QQQ, AA vs rivered KKK, JJJ vs Q8 flopped set vs flopped straight in 3bet pot - lol, and so on).
I think I'm gonna make a thread for some of the hands tho..
EDIT: Fuck it, it's all REALLY standard stuff with just me getting raped by variance, aside from 1 bad fold and maybe a bad call.
Anyway: graph http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9579/firstdaynl300rg6.jpg
Will either give it another 2 more buyins or just rebuild until I get to 7000$ again (just 2 buyins at 1/2 really).
I think I should betcall turn here, the guy is 15.7/10.8 with pretty low AF numbers, calls 3bets pretty lightly from what I've seen (ie with 46dd OOP when 100bb deep, played a strong combo draw fast by check minraising). With As maybe c/r (essentially a check call due to potsize), although probably still a betcall.

Never been called this quickly, EVER >< I raise his bet on the flop like 99% of the time but I felt like the stack sizes would be awkard (meh) and I'd try to use my position. Man, I really think I'd play KQ or maybe even AQ like this a lot of the time. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/278174
Nothing like a Good Donkament Performanceby Bluffed1331, September 22
So the last week I was running really shitty, which led to me playing like crap. But nothing can lift your spirits more than a solid donkament outing. Played in the 30k gtd late last night and Final tabled. Had the chip lead going into the final 4 and enter 3-handed tied for 2nd/3rd. Very first hand I raised 55 on the btn and joe_banks shoved and I called. 55 < KJs and I took home 3.5k. Too bad cause if I could have won that race the other guy was an incompetent donk so Im pretty sure I would have dozed over him for the tourney win. Oh well, still feels good to make up for some of the recent losses.
