PHILROCKS123 REINSTATEMENT STRIKEby direleif, November 25
I am appalled at how the liquidpoker community is treating philrocks123. All he did was come here for some advice and the community just laughed at him and banned him for speaking his mind! I think we should apologize to philrocks123 and give him another chance!
I'll bet philrocks123 was just going on a real life downswing...
he was taking a lot of emotional bad beats...
he'd push all in with happiness and get runner runnered by despair and misery...
his pocket pair of good times and good people and would be outflopped by top two pair anger and no fun at all...
etc...
So how about we give philrocks123 another chance, in the spirit of the holiday season... lets not be grinches. To prove that I support what I'm saying, I am going on a liquidpoker posting STRIKE until philrocks123's account is justly reinstated. I won't post anything during this period. I encourage fellow LPers to do the same.
Push Overcards + Flush Draw on Flop?by k2o4, November 25
I just posted this rambling rant on my team's forum and plan to clean it up a bit and then post it on the main poker forums later, but for now I'm gonna throw it down here.
Ok, what I've been consistently told is that it's a +ev play to push 2 overcards and a flush draw on the flop. I started wondering if this was really true though, and here's what I found after doing a bunch of messing around in a odds calculator.
I started thinking that if you get called, you're probably pretty fucked. And that does seem to be the case. Let's figure out what hands are going to bet into us or raise us on the flop, and then call an all-in bet.
A pair: They either have top pair top kicker, a pair with a decent kicker, or an overpair. Vs JJ on a 27T board w/ AK and a flush draw, you're golden and winning 53%. Same if they have something like JT. But let's say they have top pair top kicker... AJ... now your ace is counterfeit and you're only winning 46% of the time. I think that the majority of the time that someone will call your all in bet with only 1 pair, they will have top pair top kicker or an overpair. So this almost makes it feel like having KQs is better than AKs for those spots.
Two Pair: vs 2pair you're in a world of hurt. Now you're basically on a flush draw and winning 36% of the time.
Set: It's worse vs a set, cause you're again on a flush draw but the set has so many redraws into a boat that you're only winning 25% of the time.
Str8: This is the best of the bigger made hands as all your flush outs are clean, so you win 37% of the time.
Flush or Str8 Draw: Maybe you get lucky and have someone call who's just drawing to a better hand (possible but not likely). Now you're a favorite to win, anywhere between 70% to 90% depending on their cards being higher or lower than urs.
boat / 4 of a kind: obviously you're not wanting to make this play on a paired board, but if you did and they had a boat or quads, you're fucked and winning less than 1% of the time.
Now, I figure that any set, two pair or str8 is gonna call your push. You'll get some calls from TpTk and an overpair. So when you do get called, you've got a high chance of losing. I don't know that you get enough folds to your all-in to make up for the losses you take when they do call.
Now, if we switch things into an Open Ended Str8 draw + a flush draw, you're in business. You're winning vs the majority of hands... you own top pair 55% and two pair 51%, win 42% vs a set and are even winning 52% vs a str8 if they have the low end and you're drawing to the top end. Add 2 overcards to the mix and you're even more solid, taking down top pair 67% of the time.
So I still think that an open ended str8 draw + a flush draw (especially with overcards) is a hand to push on the flop. I'm just not sure if two overcards + a flush draw is worth it. You might be counterfeit and only have 1 overcard vs their pair so you're losing, and vs 2pair/set/str8 you're screwed.

I have completely no idea what's going on at NL50. I think I've played solid poker most of the time, but I cannot win anything. Aces run into sets on heavy draw boards, sets never get paid off (I tried everything: donk betting, check-raising, raising, flatting, nothing seems to work - they never have anything or they fold overpairs all the freakin' time).
Today I had started with a nice session at NL25. +$130 over 1650 hands. Then I had won another 100 bucks at NL50. I took a break, came back and lost 140 at NL50.

NONE
Uhhhhhhhhhhh... Sets not getting paid off, that's the biggest beat. Or maybe is everything OK here and I'm just making some stupid assumptions? I have to say I don't do anything very fancy with pocket pairs. http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/4665/iuiuibh4.jpg
I can play NL25 all the time, but that's not my dream, to be honest .
Saving this post cuz it's so damn good. Too bad I have to cashout and can't put it into effect.

didn't read the thread, but you absolutely must move up aggressively and move down conservatively.
whenever you have 25 bi for the next level, move to it. hell, if you don't need to make any cashouts any time soon, you should move up at 20. BUT, if you lose 2 or 3 bi at that level, move back down, simple and plain. do some evaluation of your own play there, and more importantly try to make some serious assessments of how your opponents played there. make these assessments in general terms (e.g. "the game had a lot less preflop aggression than my previous stakes") and in specific terms (e.g. "this regular, ____, likes to do a lot more squeezing than i've ever seen anyone do").
you'll NEVER take serious damage to your bankroll with this approach, and you'll learn as quickly as possible. every time you move up, it's a quick shot and a learning experience, it's not any kind of major change in your poker playing. don't view it as a monumental event for yourself, because you'll be a lot more prone to tilt when you are heavily emotionally invested in your success at the next level.
the first, second, third, etc. time you move up to a certain level, you probably won't hit the ground running. you'll most likely take a shot and fail a few times before catching on to a distinct advantage that you can sustain. but you sure as hell won't learn to beat 2/4 by playing 100k hands at 1/2. you'll learn to beat 2/4 by putting in some hands at 2/4 and doing your best to study the players in that game.
and honestly, you're fairly likely to run well and make some money when you move up anyway. there's no shame in moving back down, even if you are still up at the next level. so if you move to 2/4, go on a heater and win 10 buyins, then lose a few back and realize you actually aren't sure how to beat the game, you can still move back down. just don't get married to a false perception of success and progress. if you move up and run well, then you just ran well and have no reason to prematurely believe that you can sustain a positive winrate at the next level. but if you played well and believe you have an edge, give yourself some credit and ask some players who have had success at that level whether or not your thoughts on the game are correct.
So frustrated right now. Think I might write a program to determine the odds on running this bad in all-in pots for a week and a half straight. It has to be pretty astronomical.
I'll start with the scam attempt before moving onto a more general update.
So some guy added me on msn earlier today and just came on and started a conversation that seemed normal at first, apart from the fact I've never played on PokerStars before.

So he didn't reply to my sincere suggestion to go build up play money to sell.
My attempt to convert a scammer to the good old fashion degenerate gambling way of life is obviously a sign I'm a good person.
At the moment I have him blocked deleted, any ideas for a reverse scam attempt/ getting him to do retarded things in the hope of a successful scam?
A friend suggested "make him take photos of his penis" but that strikes me as retarded and self-owning and I now have increasing doubts about my friends sexual orientation/ sense of humor.
So anyone with better ideas do suggest them.
Guess I'm extremely bored and November sucks ass so poker isn't taking up that much time since I'm taking a short break from it. Short meaning I should start playing again within the week.
Also I can basically beat most of hard on Guitar hero 3, short of the last 4 songs which are just gay and I'm not sure I'm willing to practice each section of each song for 30 minutes each. So I'm just going to buy Assassins Creed and start playing that, or keep playing Dead Rising which I only started playing a few days ago.
Interestingly enough killing zombies constantly while playing a game with a story line that is pretty much that of a horror movie isn't all that scary. The game pretty much consists of "Frank" some journalist finding out whats happening and standard scene:
Those who know me will know I can't watch scary movies AT ALL and yet getting attacked by hordes of zombies and beating them with anything i can pick up seems like good fun.
Hell I watched the Sixth Sense and was so scared I had to cover my eyes and block my ears, manly no doubt right?
Oh, went to a friends Christmas dinner/Christian masquerade dinner thingy.
As bad as that might sound (yeah I'm an atheist/non-believer), it actually turned out to not be what I'd assumed initially and my friends and I had a good time.
Afterwards we somehow ended up at an African club/bar with huge amounts of err... booty is probably the nicest way to describe it and the average age was at least 7 years older than us.
Something like this:
However they played awesome music and the environment was very chill so we stayed for a while.
Will definitely have to go back to sometime during these holidays with more people our age which will be awesome.
Anyway probably to much to read and boring a lot of people so I'll end my update with a couple of videos that I've recently watched and thought were hilarious:
This one is from an American show Maury Povich hosts where women come in and get a paternity test done to prove if the man/which of the men is the father:
I also loved this one:
And people may have seen this but I've only recently watched it and its AWESOME as only japanese game shows can be:
Alrights, hope the read was bearable Good luck and those on holidays enjoy
so i was playing a live game yesterday with my brother. $20 buy in for 2000 chips with 1 $20 rebuy. and the people i'm playing with have a little side game where if you have the absolute nuts, you get to slap whoever is in the hand on the showdown.
i had 66, flop is like jqx rainbow, i fire on the flop, one person calls. we both check until the river, which is an 8. he checks, i check and flip over my hand...and he dramatically flips over 9 10, and everyone is getting all excited and i'm like "WTF!!?!?" and so everyone pulled out their camera phones and recorded me getting slapped...

Rakeback with existing accountby c)N-Marine, November 24
on bodog possible? General search results say no. Just wanted to double check if there was a way around this. If not I will definitely look for a site with rakeback soon.
after a week of playing im up to 1500 from depositing 600 last week. that sick heater really gave me a big boost. played some today and won back what i lost yest 2bi. my question is, do i continue to play 8 tables 25nl or 4 table 50nl. action at is pretty intense and fast at UB. pahud still doesnt show any stats, and im kind of titlting over it already. do i wait for 2k roll before starting 50nl 8 tables?
Wants 5 USD/month for admin fees or w/e from an account I havn't played on in months. I can't really figure out how to delete it and since they're fuckups anyway I don't really like having an account there anyway, anyone knows how to delete accounts?
bought into a $150 tournament at the casino today full of typical live degen losers. There were 125 entrants and the first place prize of 6k or so was mine for the taking.
In the first hour I managed to acquire 9000 more chips than my initial starting amount of 6500, I also threw up a couple times in the bathroom at the sick bad play. People limping TT PF, flopping sets and check/calling every street was fucking terrible on my stomache.
Anyways, basically I was up to 70k and was 2nd or 3rd in chips with ~25 left and 12 paying. Blinds were sick huge relative to stack sizes (2k/4k) and some fag every time i raised would come over the top of me, I would fold and he would show AA/KK/AK/QQ every single fucking time, fucking faggot.
Anyways, break to the future, I'm sitting with 30k and 3k/6k blinds, 15 people left and the fag who raped me in every hand is in the sb, folded to him and he makes some insignificant raise, I look at my holecards, K3os, the fucking nuts. I instantly go all-in, he calls and shows A3, fuck him.
faggot sucked out obv and I went out in 15th place and miraculously donated every single one of my 70k chips to that guy. I'd seriously murder him right now if I could.
I play anywhere from 1/2 to 2/4 on bodog. Looking for a site that offers rakeback and soft. Any suggestions? They have to accept credit card transactions and U.S. players. Thanks.
