Dropped $250 today and I'm not tilted just upset.
Also used all of my fpp on sunday million sats and lost all of them.
starcraft is boring today, my back hurts and i'm hungry.
the only way this day is getting saved is if i get laid and there's little to no chance of that happening

edit - I think i'm gonna spew some money at the 5r to relieve stress, probably wont help though

| | F*ck You Canada! by JonnyCosMo, November 27
Just took a social psychology test about 30 mins ago and pretty much got raped. Finally I get to the last question on the test and I see a curve ball thrown out:
If you fly due south from Detroit Michigan, what is the first foreign country you fly over?
a) Mexico
b) Panama
c) Cuba
d) Canada
Now normally this would be a fairly hard question for someone who wasn't really up to date on their US geography, and I believe the most common / lazy answer would be Mexico. But I'm taking Geography 321 at SDSU right now so I had the exact location of Detroit in my mental map and realized that it was more to the east... therefore it's over Cuba. Sweet, this question was easy. So I go to turn in the test and I ask my teacher: "Hey dude, what's up with the last question on the test?" and he says "Oh, I told the class the answer in the last class period." (Obv I dont go to every class period because that's -EV) So I'm like "Haha, that's a tricky question, because most people would put Mexico, but I know better, I put Cuba, ship it ez." He starts to give a little chuckle, and I'm like huh? Then he turns to me and says "Look it up when you get to a computer."
So I get back and I look it up:

And now I'm thinking it's an ez ship it. Obv it's Cuba see? But upon looking closer I found the horrible truth...

| | resent results by shaneomac, November 27
things have been going pretty well for me pokerwise recently. i attempted some sessions @ NL400, one of which went very well and the other two sucked, mostly due to me playing poorly and i basically ended about even. i had been 1-2 tabling soft tables before that which went pretty well tho. i think i am good enough to beat the game so im just going to choose soft tables and sit at them if i see em, otherwise just grind NL200 to platinum star and hopefully some good grinding money. im also going to begin to take up PLO. im gonna watch some cardrunner vids and probly play some PLO200. whats a good roll for PLO200? im also possibly interested in looking into getting some teaching for PLO or FR but i havent decided that quite yet.
take care noobs.

| | HU explosion by NeillyJQ, November 27
Tonight I decided to join 4 HU tables and play my best, and ran into a few guys who donated alot.
A great night to say the least, heres some of the hands from tonight;
vs mam - http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/323759
open on the button with A6s, get called and he minraises on the flop. I call w/ pot odds and figure hes on smthing like QTo. The turn brings me a FD so i 3bet him and take the pot down w/ out showdown.
vs data - http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/323758
this guy was paying me off tons, i played an hour and a half w/ him and took down 6 BI.
hand plays itself out pretty well, I put him on the FD when he reraised, I had position and got it in on the turn.
vs data - http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/323757
Flop is dry as heck and I figured he missed so I check to induce a bluff. He checks behind and turns top pair. From here on I get some value and take it down.
vs data - http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/323752
couldn't see him having an ace here, he was a bit maniacle. I thought i was up against a strong combo draw, NFD or smthing. Rivered the 2nd nuts and took down a nice pot.
FTP has been treatin me really good,
Running well and playing well,
GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe)

Hopefully i can get some good sessions going.

| | Sydney, where can i find poker games? by barbieman, November 27
I've been in Sydney with three friends for a little more than 1 week, we're planning to stay in sydney for atleast another 6 months and then travel around the country working and sigthseeing. We've started to look for some jobs and will soon get a furnished apartment with an internet connection soon. It will be expensive as hell but it's just as expensive for 4 ppl to live in a hostel as to rent a central 2/3 room apartment with furniture. The biggest plus except a lot of small comfy shit I will no longer have to share a room with this annoying german guy, he smells like fuckin' shit. Seriously, it's close to unbearable, i don't even know he can build up such a smell. It's like something from another dimension.
To the question, where can i play tournaments with a reasonable structure with a buy-in between 20-50$? And even more importantly, where can I find cash games with ok rake and 100bb with a buy-in somewhere between 50 & 100$?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/323638
Well, kinda, as my top set turned into a boat on the river to kill my opponents str8. He didn't take too kindly to it though...
| | kingbaxter said, "omg"
kingbaxter said, "you better bend over and start doing a muslum chant for that luck"
kingbaxter said, "that was ridiculous"
kingbaxter said, "***in river bullsht"
kingbaxter said, "with beats like that everyone here is losing there money"
kingbaxter said, "have fun everyone losting your money" |
At which point he left the table, hehe. I was hoping he'd stay and tilt off some more, but no luck.
Also hit a pretty big pot pretty soon after that. This guy was 3 betting me like crazy. I'd isolate a fish while on the button and he'd 3bet me from the big blind. It was maddening. Then this hand came up and things got a bit crazy.

Started off the day trying to be a bit more lag. Did well just playing normal lag, then tried maniac and did ok but after 3 separate sessions trying it, I lost 3 buyins. Then played my regular TAG game tonight and won it back and finished out almost exactly where I started this morning. heh. Really should have done my experimenting on NL25 and saved some money.
EDIT: I just smoked a cig and realized that I ran really well in 2 poorly played hands, haha. Fuck.

| | bad shot at 50nl by whamm!, November 26
well it really wasn't all that bad... won 3bi first shot then lost 2 then 2 today. I stack off straights on the flop 78 vs kq, aa vs kk then he boats the flop blah blah blah. i just have to improve the "tiltcbet" that i've been doing lately. some flop just have to be checked with cards with showdown value against some donks. feels kinda strange i get this when i try to move up though, so ive given it some thought and ive decided to do grots 2nd guide of 60bi per limit. i guess it suits me better to overroll myself for each limit regardless if its microstakes or medium ones. with my attitude, i cant enjoy playing the standard 30 bi rule, my aggression is quite affected by this and i seem to be aggroing at the wrong times coz of this. anyway ive decided it already and ill post results this week whatever happens. bye.

| | Sickest heater ever by KwarK, November 26
Basically, I'm winning about a buyin every 5 hands at the moment. On one table I got rockets, then rockets again, then a flopped AK high flush, then kings, then queens. Two opponents said it was just ridiculous and left. The other tables have been nearly as good, with a notable two KK hands in a row on one of them. I'll post a graph of the results soon. It's only 10nl though so the money isn't so great.
http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/4151/heaterkc8.jpg
Edit: On an unrelated note I've got a question about pokertracker. Basically I'd like to merge 2 databases but I don't know how. I don't have a separate hand history for them (as both have been moved to the same folder after import).

| | I need inspiration by CrownRoyal, November 26
NL50 is boring and I wanna play NL100, but i'm 500 dollars away from being sufficiently rolled
I tried playing $25+2 9 man sng but after two sessions broke even.
I also need to stop cashing out (I'm -700 the past two weeks from cashouts) and not to mention I had to ship 500 to gawdawful. Wtf, I should be playing like nl200 almost.
anyways, someone give me the ability to run hot for one session at something and win $500 so I can play nl100 and also give me the ability to quit cashing out.

| | Big update. by Cro)Deadman, November 26
Ok so I've got myself chatbanned for starters (requested it myself)so I don't go apeshit in the chat when I get bad beated which for the past month is happening more then usual. So if I need a way to restrain myself I'll do it.
My Bankroll is at status quo for over a month now simply cannot pass over ~630$ for some reason, and I figured I'm playing a bit too loose, basically only way for me to beat NL10 FR is to nuttpeddle and play positional poker, when I say I'm playing a bit too loose it doesn't mean im raising 97s in MP,but playing Axsuit on the button which are acceptable plays etc,but it just isnt worth spending my attention to such a hand when I have a ton of other tables where I'll be able to play better hands accordingly postflop.
When I reach the limit where everyone is using PAhud (which I got but just don't use atm),I'll loosen up and play more hands etc...
Watched alot of CR vids thanks to the person who left it in one of my previous blogposts and definately learned some stuff but nothing really new,its all pretty much ABC poker (yes I haven't watched CTS obv ;-))
Also finally reached Silver Star on Stars which makes me pretty happy, and my plans to move up limits is when I get 1K$ I'll start playing NL20 and hopefully do well there...
I don't think people at this site really realize how much good bankroll managment is important,20 buyins for a limit imo REALLY isn't enough, microstakes or not,a bit of a stronger strike by the mother of all bitches variance can melt down 20 buyins before you know it,no matter how good you are,so the advice I'd want to give to people that are microstakes grinders as myself is _USE MORE THEN 20 BUYINS_,poker is a industry which will always run because of the morons who think they're good enough to beat variance at any level, those people may be running at 6.5 bb/100 but they have a mindset of a loser and is just a matter of time when they will bust.
Hope this chunk of text didn't hurt your eyes too much, and If it did heres a little something to heal them.

| | Week 4 Update by SugoGosu, November 26
Recently I have moved up to NL5 with a BR of $100. I know it's probably not a smart move, but I just couldn't take people calling all-ins 84o with AK10 on the board, and catching 4 and 8 on the turn/river. It just annoyed me. As much as people here like to say, NL2, NL5, and NL10 all suck. As that may be, I would like to say, I suck too. NL5 is better, and easier in my opinion. The only part is getting used to the higher blinds and raises. After that, it is pretty much clear sailing. It is easier to put them on pairs, since they are not going all in with absolute trash. Instead, they go all in with bottom pair!
Here is my pokertracker from the last week
http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/2170/updatelp2xr7.png
So far, I have only played 350 hands today, and I am up about $15, and yesterday I played a total of 2k hands and I made $26.
I was a little lucky in 1 hand which played out as I had 1010 and flop was 3 5 6, i pot sized, he called, turn made it 3 5 6 [J] i potsized again, he called, and river came down another 10. He went all in, I instacalled and he turned over 33. up $5.75 in that hand.
Maybe I'm a luckbox, which Kwark calls me. Oh well, as long as the money keeps coming my way, I have no problems with it.

| | Game gone stale by T8Suited, November 26
Sad but true
To see my win rate steadily dwindle from 9 PTBB over 20k to 5.4 over 90k was quite depressing.
Sometimes I can't even perform 1st level thinking. To often I just didn't bother to do so. Like, I raised w/ AK, 4-way pot, ZOMG flopped top-2 on a 2-suit board. Tightie c/min-raised me, but no, top-2 is too pretty, he could be fucking with me with a flush draw, so I pushed. Sure enough tightie showed bottom set.
There were multiple times I ran really well. But then one big mistake, boom, back to square one.
I made 6k in October playing 100NL. This month I'm up like 3.5k with 4 days to go -- don't think I will be able to keep it up.
