went to staff party yesterday night, like 100 people there. got stopped by police on the way coz of lights but let us off with a warning coz ´li was honest =s funny coz i was ready to believe he had no insurance, the car was stolen and there were drugs in the back etc. hung out with val most of the night, was good, nothing too embarrassing, or i didnt notice.
So far I've had a really swingy month, and as a result I've been a lot less inclined to play long hours the past few days. I suppose a reasonable goal for online this month would be to get to 50k. I may only have like 15 days to play this month, and I think that's a pretty reasonable goal given that. I have finals through Thursday, which sucks but I gotta spend some time prepping for those. After that I'm off to LV for a week or so, then holiday stuff and visiting family etc. I just re-booked my flight to Vegas, I think I get in late on Thursday the 13th. Obv I'm excited to get over there, albeit a little late, for the side games from the 5 Diamond donkament. I'll prob play mostly 25/50 but will likely find my way to 50/1 once I get back accustomed to live poker again. I dunno what to expect really, the 10/20 I've played there is quite possibly the lamest game ever, with shortstackers everywhere and big stacks playing like they have their entire life savings on the table, and 7-way limping preflop and so-forth. The times I've played 25/50 there I found it to be pretty soft and people more willing to fold a hand sometimes. Hopefully I can book a win, I'm pretty excited as I've heard the action thus far has been great.

i have this thing for pokerstars, sort of a heater/cooler high variance type of rng usually comes my way, so I try to stay away from it as much as I can. I've crushed ftp,ub prima evt at the microstakes before but never stars. I once had a very good run, dep 600 turned it into 1700 in a month playing aggressive br style(20bi) then just bust out at 1 400NL table when things turned to shit, since then, I never had a consistent br growth. Only last week I decided to make it a personal challenge to myself to finally beat this non-rakeback monstrosity. won 200 then lost the 100 at 25nl (4bi for 2 days). I withdrew then cursed lee jones to hell lol. I tried a diff approach this time and played fr instead of 6max. lost 5bi in one session playing 6max, then decided to nutpeddle fr with a 450usd br playing 12 tables. things are pretty good after a 4 days, won back my 150 then won another 100. Playing a ton of hands (4 to 5k) a day, just to prove to myself that i can beat this site no matter how tired or up I am, I'll just go with the variance here. and after 12k hands in 3 or 4 days, I've finally gotten over the "tilt" that has plagued me for so long. I just play properly and stick it in if I believe it's +ev, seldom bluff big pots, and steal small and medium ones every once in a while. My personal goal is to reach gold status by december, or maybe even platinum if possible, just so that I can reach supernova by june. thanks and goodluck to all.
- Plays been very good, made a few spews but less than average, yet more swews than is achievable.
- When I've felt weak I've found soft tables and when I'm playing good I've been moving up taking on whom I consider to be the weaker regulars and it's worked well.
- Had some HUGE outdraws against me (77 vs A7 reraised pre 752 flop A turn A river for 8.5k pot at 10/20 and a similar sort of thing just river set for two buyins 10/20 44 vs KK) BUT I've made some big hands and the vast majority have held up so I think I've been running average or above average for this month overall. (although the 77 outdraw was soooo sick i was talking about it for about 3 hours).
Targets for December:
25k hands (quite achievable I imagine getting about 300-500 an hour atm if I'm 2 tabling hu)
Attempt to play more multi table tournaments - since my 2nd place in the 100k grt I've only played one mtt the 1k monthly grand tournament (which I came 70th top 70 paid woo) Going to attempt to play all the mansion tournaments because the overlay is sick and the level of play is really really sub-par (really!).
Keep grinding 3/6 - I've been making about 700-900 an hour hu on 3/6 this month on average and I don't think that much more is achievable at 10/20 (game selection is much weaker, far less people buying in with the 2k without really knowing what to do hu) and the swings are huge. Maybe after 50k hands I'll be more than happy. However I'm of course going to sit 3+ handed against fish or hu against fish at those stakes. The problem I have is losing 3 buyins hu at 10/20 is alot more frustrating than winning 6k at 10/20 makes me happy, whereas dropping a buyin at 3/6 is wtf np.

I had recently backed up my DBs before sending my laptop in for repairs. When it came back, I re-registered PT and copied the DB back over. It worked smoothly and I was able to access all my old data.
Today I was prompted to backup the database and after backing it up, I'm getting these errors and can no longer access my DB.
Down 260$ at nl50 and only about 1 buyin of it was my fault. I got my money in massive favourite every time and still lose, AA vs KK allin on a rag flop, i lose ofc. I just cud not win a hand, it was most unreal thing ever.
I havnt played poker in ages either and then to come back to this, to ruin my BR further. What the fuck when will this downswing end?

Dropped 350 from my shot at nl100, then now 8 buyins down on nl50. I guess i can keep going until

I'll stay at nl50 until 800 then drop down another time. Gives me another 8 buyins or so before i have to regrind from 25. Alarm bells arnt ringing yet.

In all fairness I'm probably running pretty good. It's just very frustrating to be -4.5 buyins on my PokerEV grapher, and only winning 46% of my showdowns. When your playing, you can actually feel that equity lost everytime you get someone all-in dead to 2 outs on the turn and they get there. It's sick But I feel like I've adjusted well, I'm playing tighter than normal, not tilting, playing shorter sessions more frequently, and I feel very in control when I play. Implementing a stop loss (thanks for the idea sbrugby!) has really helped this month as well.
On a funny note: My PT says I'm a losing player from the hours of 5pm to 10pm at night my time (PST). But I'm destroying the games from the hours of 4am to 10am. Weird? Europeans really need to learn their poker. They are significantly worse than the regulars in the evening hours.
I just thought I'd throw down some PLO hands for everyone to laugh at. Played about 40k hands now and through the past few months. Some of these are terrible shoves by me but I'm still learning. Enjoy!

Ok, so ever since I started this challenge I decided to never check my cashier or PT while playing, just so I could play without focusing on wether I'm up or down. I've managed to do this for 7 days now, and was completely in shock when I opened my cashier after todays session - I was up like 3k! Maybe some hands later, I ran pretty well about halfway through todays session (ORLY?), after starting out not flopping anything for 2.5k hands, I was suddenly flopping boats left and right.
One poor guy ended up losing with AJ to quads (he 3bet me 3 handed, I flop set on a super dry flop and call in position, check check ten turn cause I think he has nothing, or at least the ten is a little scary, he instasnapshoves A on the river), top 2 in BvB vs my bottom set (he raised me on the flop with top pair and then turned his 2 pair), as well as KK vs AA for a bit over a buyin.

Last night I was about to go to bed but I was a bit hungry, so I made myself a sandwich and thought I play some PLO for like half an hour (inspired by PAs interview about PLO).
I played .25/.50 cause I am not that good, but I ran like god. up $200 in 20min then naturally things were breaking even and before I know it I was -$400 4 hours into the session. Played another 2 to take it to -$100... its really not the money even when I was down 400 i didnt care but i wasted 6 hours and this instead of studying for my final tomorrow.
Note to self: Dont ever let this happen again
