Today I had my first losing session in nearly 2 years.(Long breaks and very soft home games) Felt like a shin kick to the temple, but it's one of those things I got to learn to handle.

Pokerwise I had a great month in January. A great start of 2008

Needless to say, I ran very good obviously. Its been one of my best months ever in poker.
For the most part of the month, I played the 6 max midstakes games like I planned. I practiced some table selection and it was definately worth it a lot. I also played the NL 5/10 6-max game occasionally, when I saw some weaker players there and focused mostly on playing them rather than fighting the good regs.

Later in the month I started playing heads-up quite a lot and I found that I like it I got inspired by a cardrunners video where Aba and GP sweated Ezra while playing heads-up. I liked especially Aba's style a lot and found that it is basically the style that suits me best. Some things clicked in my head while watching the video and so far I have been doing very well in the midstakes HU games and also felt comfortable during all the matches. Of course I table selected and avoided the very good players.

I also ran good in live poker - managed to win several small tournaments in a local casino (usually $25+rebuy with like 15-25 people, first prize between $1k and $1.5k), which always feels good

Non-poker-wise I had my exams this month. I am not completely finished yet, but I successfully finished 3 out of my 5 classes. Hopefully I will manage to finish the remaining 2 succesfully as well.

im upset with what happend yest. i tilted and play so gay and just wasnt in my right mind, but kept on trying to win it all back. i was almost there btw, just 50bucks short in fact, then i had to like, EXACTLY get my money back then lost 250 to end the day. i feel so shitty and mad. i think i wont be blogging, or as i would call it "BLAGGING" saying how good i run and how much i win everyday at microstakes. lol
god i just wanna kick some ass today. probably i wont be playing and blogging for some time here after this stupid episode. i know i can beat 50nl but all this pressure to win every fucking session was really created by myself and all this everyday blogging. br is now at 5200 and ill blog again if i get to 10k. so goodluck to all you guys and see you at 200nl next time. hehe. peace out.

Since I played pretty much no hands in january, I have no report on the month. I came down with pneumonia at the beginning of the month, missed the first 2 weeks of the semester, and spent the rest of the month playing catch up with my school work. I did manage to catch up on all of my work this week, 20 fucking study hours at the library this week. I might be turning asian . Pretty crappy month overall thought, but february should be better.

This month I plan on putting in a ton of hands. I am all caught up with my school work, and with other business(fraternity, finances, switching major, etc). I am also moving into a new room in the fraternity house, by myself. I was originally living with a buddy of mine, but decided it would be best to have my own room for a variety of reasons. I dont stay up as late, and he often has girls over and such, as well as being somewhat inconsiderate in a variety of ways. Also, I have well over 10k worth of electronics, as well as a decent amount of cash I keep handy. I would feel much safer about my possessions having my own room. Also, it will be better for me as far as focusing on school work and poker. All in all I think its a good choice. Oh yea, I have the back door in my room too, leading to the back porch, which is nice for bringing ladies to the house and not having to worry about being cock-blocked. I will be moving everything into my room tomorrow(finishing up painting it tonight, will post pics of my sick painting skills soon. So hopefully ill have my dual monitors setup this weekend. I should be getting my macbook pro fixed soon too which will be nice, Once I get all of this done and finally settle into my room I will be ready to hit the grind again.

As far as poker goes, again I am gonna be focusing on mostly HU, and play 6m when I need a change. I would like to play around 50k hands this month, but it depends on how busy I am with school. Ill probably continue to be staked for mtt's on sundays, but im not entirely sure considering last sunday :-P. I am fairly certain I am being staked for a good part of FTOPs. Again, if anyone is interested in backing me for the big weekly tournaments, just hit me up.

Im off to finish painting my room, TR and pics to come.

Hmmm.
Im doing pretty shit as you can see below.

As I think ive said earlier Ive tilted away about 1000 bux(half my roll) just before exams(my 2 biggest loosing sessions were both before exams)
With remaning thousand Ive cashed out 700 and put on NOIQPOKER and left 200 on Absolute.

Got sick of struggling and tried to play NL100 with 7 buyins which went actually well. I believe I can beat it if i play good and down spew shit.
But im also scared that im going to go busto due to variance(not following br rules)

I was doing 3 tables of NL100 and at one point went up to a 1200
But I think I have this fucking mindblock that happens and I get scared or something and i end up always loosing the won money. Just like it happpened again and im back to about 700 bux.

When i did NL100 i very quickly went up to a thousand, but after that i cant go any further I just loose it if i play again.

also played some headsup up on NL10, and i might do that a bit more just to see how it goes. I suck majorly at it right now

In other news, I got a girlfriend now, so probably going to play less. And only 1 month left of holidays.
More and more each(loosing) day I start to think that this poker thing isnt going to happen.
I will just need to finish my degree and become electrical engineer.
Fuck I need another way out, I want to somehow make money, just cannot think of anything at the moment.

For last two months things has been a little bit hectic around here. Winter semester was about to end, then final exams. So I’ve decided to quit poker world for a while. Now it’s everything done, summer semester will start in about fourteen days and that gives me few free-minded days. However I will have to think about some kind of time management, because study like a maniac at the end of semester isn’t the best thing to do. I need to spread these looong hours to the whole semester.

The plan for February is to play poker and continue with my FR to 6M transition. I’m currently grinding NL10 on UBet, because my BR took a serious "Christmas cash out hit".

//whining// God I miss Poker Stars software so much. //end of whining//

On the other hand rakeback is rakeback especially on NL10. Anyway, short handed play is much more interesting, in fact when I look back to my FR times, it seems like black & white movie with no sound. Although there are a lot of tough spots where I don’t feel very comfortable. There will be no hands today, but I’m going to post a bunch on Sunday.

BTW can you recommend me some 6max "must haves"? So far I've watched couple of Brystmars videos and read few articles on 2p2. Thx ;-)

Finished up the month. Only got to play about 22k hands this month. Stayed in vegas for a week and got serious coaching from friend and played a ton of 50nl there. Moved up to 100nl and hit a $600 downswing. Moved back to 50nl and reground the roll up to 3.1k then took another shot and made $1,300.

Only got to play 16 days this month. But on the days i did play, i managed to fit in a healthy amount of hands. Plan on moving to 100nl in the next couple days.

If I don't get hungry I'd go on for 10 hours more . I ran so fucking bad today espically at the beginning. Later I was just carddead but I moved to fullring and played like 8/6 to reduce variance and stuff. Anyways after my food break I'll be back for more and hopefully make this graph a nice big V"

i think i'll keep grinding 200nl since competition is still pretty fishy =D, unlike the reg fest mentioned in other blogs.

After all the stupidity the past 10 days or so, i'm no longer even playing competent enough to beat 50nl. I moved back down today and played retarded, spewing left and right because i thoguht people were "making moves", and basically trying to be an idiot hero. Only lost 2 BI's before i got a grip of myself and quit. BR got chopped up pretty good so i definetly, definetly need this break, played way too much this month, much more than i usually do (like 80-90k hands). Guess ill cruise into early feb and collect my 850$ rakeback, and set the following goals for myself:

-REFOCUS, i've lost almost all focus playing poker
-TILT control. Tilt never used to be a problem for me until the last couple weeks, when i started tilting in a long, long time. It's affected my play and patience greatly. big signs of a break needed
-Re assess my game. Run bad > play bad > change game > lose confidence > play bad some more
-Get some help. I'm still looking for a coach from NL100/200+, 6 max or FR, either is fine, Altho i'd prefer 6max coaching simply because i think it's a tougher game.
-Reinstate stop-loss. 2 BI stop loss = 2 hr break.
-Dont play if i'm tired in any way whatsoever. I've found ive been getting insanely sloppy / tired after 500 hands of playing 6max, which has never happened before, probably has something to do with this "poker depression" i've gotten myself into. I was used to seeing a 2k+ BR for most of the month and then all of a sudden seeing it less made me kinda sick, and it shouldnt
-By end of feb: solidly into nl100 both 6max and FR. BR: 3.5K NOT counting rakeback.

Would like any PM's for anyone offering their services (price can be negotiated), or just anyone who would like to talk hands / and discuss the low stakes.

I was just wondering wtf was going on. I lost 20 BI's at NL200 in 4 days. I looked at every hand and realized I missplayed one big hand. Never went on tilt either because in the past that was a huge problem during the bad runs. But it seems that my downswings coincide with cashing out 1500$ bonuses on Pokerstars. So the doomswitch is on and I've heard of people going on 35 BI's loosing streaks but I never believed it. I now know it's possible.

So i was wondering if anyone here had some kind of ritual to break on of these runs ? I tried burning stuff but that didn't work.

Sometimes it sucks. This is my PLO50 and then 1.5k hands of PLO100 for the month. At one point I was $900.00 below expected all-in value. I finished the month behind $534 in expected all-in value. This is what it actually looks like to run bad rather than just people saying they do all the time. Very confident I can probably become capable of maintaining 20pt/BB at PLO50 though. Been tinkering with my game all month. PLO100 is the next goal for end of next month!

Well what to say, January was a very disappointing month. Every 400NL 600NL table was filled with regs. When ever I play the tables would just be, me, renton555, kelisitaan, counterfeit, Tecknowledgy, doomer, actiondj, babs1337, futilewar, ihatepoker and nit of your choice. Although some of those players aren't great they are good enough to not pay you.

That coupled with the fact that I suck at poker and spew too much in bluffs I have ran at an awesome 0.91PTBB/100 for 150k hands..

At the moment I'm considering reworking my game and would like some advice on where some of my leaks are from resident FR pros here (Sean, Myth, doomer etc). Or what I can do to find out and fix my leaks.

Anyways lets hope Feb 2008 will be better. /wrist
