Valentines Day! by RebuyFoolAA, February 14

Hope everyone is having a good one. I'm taking today off so I thought it'd be a good time to give a status update on my quest for a 100k year. So far I have played 78k hands and have made around 14,300$. If I was to just stick to 200NL I would have played 72k hands and banked 17k$. Not a biggy though, I am running at 6.02PTBB over those 72k hands so I am pretty stoked with that even considering my latest downswing (2500$). I feel like I have been playing realllllly solid poker and am very happy with that as well. I just wish I could start winning some more all ins as a slight-heavy favorite as I feel this is holding me back at the moment. I am sure I have made a lot of mistakes over the past 72k hands but for the most part I am very happy with my play and am on track for my 100k year. As of right now I have ~39k vpps/year so I am happy that I will be making SN in another couple months as I originally planned on making it in 6 months. I feel pretty content with life in general right now and will be updating the blog more to come. Wish me luck on my quest and good luck to all of you out there trying to grind hard!

-Austin

Haven't posted in a while + PCA stuff by KeanuReaver, February 14

haven't really played much poker, and when I have I've generally lost. Had to cash out a lot more money again to help my mom out with bills. Supporting myself with poker isn't too difficult but supporting myself and a family living in a different house is pretty rough.

Bahamas trip was alright, would have been a lot better if I wasn't sick the whole time. I made it to the second day and was about 150 people from the money but I blew it because I'm bad at tourneys. Meeting Khan was cool, very friendly guy. Also met daut but didn't have a chance to talk to him; only thing that sticks out is he's got a huge head, like tito ortiz huge, must be why he's so smart. Met a few other guys I've played with a lot (VicTree, who's a cool guy and I believe made the money, and Redargoe, who struck me as something of a dick but maybe he was just sidetracked when I met him).

First day was great. Started the day playing tight and scared but Monkey001 (or something, don't remember) sat to my right and me and him were bullshitting the whole day. We started buying rounds of beer for eachother and on breaks I'd go get a beer and a shot, by the end of the day I was pretty drunk and playing the best poker I can ever remember playing. At one point a guy at our table (playaplease or something) said he'd buy our next round if we wouldn't raise the next hand. Ended the day about 2x the average stack.

Second day I sat next to Frank something (I guess he's a somewhat famous tourney player, didn't recognize him though. he seemed cool) and a professional hockey player. I wasn't playing very well at all and not paying attention to some obvious things. Biggest example was when I had pocket tens on a 589 board after raising preflop. I had already made up my mind when I lead the flop I should push my opponent in if he raises me cause I thought he was short stacked. well, he raised really small and something about the situation felt weird but I already had my plan and I felt like 88 or 99 would be reraised preflop because of his stack size. I might have been right because he beat me with 55, point was he had about 2x as much chips as I thought he did and it crippled me...retrospect I think by pushing him I sacrificed what was a stable and strong position on my table for relatively unnecessary chips, but then again I am bad at tourneys so maybe my reasoning is skewed and I did the right thing I dunno. survived for about 3 hours before a guy limps from mp and I check bb with 53, flop comes 853 and I bet, he raises his obv limped aces and I push all in, he counterfeits on turn.

Didn't really like the atlantis and I really hated all the solicitors. Everything at the atlantis was about 4x as much as it should be ($120 for a bottle of black label WHAT THE FUCK) and native Bahamians pretty much wouldn't do shit for you unless you were buying something from them. If the venue isn't moved next year I'm not going to bother trying to go.

never the less, the beach was really nice. At one point I put a chair down and just chilled there and tanned for a few hours, was pretty awesome. Had I not been so sick I would have done a lot more and probably had a great time.

1st post! by Ond keso, February 14

Hi guys, i just started this blog so i guess an introduction is in order.

I started playing poker 1,5 years ago, just grinding out bonuses on NL10, cashing out when ever i cleared the bonus. For like 3 months ago i tough i give poker a more serious try.
Deposited $300, got TP and such. Played about 15k hands on NL10 and decided to give NL20 a go. Ever since I been struggling with NL20 and 25. Moved down couple times to rebuild on NL10.

Obviously i need serious help
Im gonna post some winners/losers and some hands i need comments on, would appreciate your help.

For the last 1k hands i been running 23/20/6

Winners:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384682 Standard? should 3-bet bigger though...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384683 Godlike hit on the turn =)

Losers:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384674
villain is running like 50/30 and has done some stupid stuff like limped 72o UTG and open bet 3xpot on KTx flop
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384677
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384679

Odd spots:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/384684
Note his stack. His running 33/2/.5 over 100+ hands
Do I shove here or just check it down? what do you think his calling range is? Do i call a shove?

I will and more here as im trying to remember them

help by CrownRoyal, February 14

I registered in a $12 turbo 180 man, it vanished from the lobby, so i searched for my registered for tournaments and i found it, and it looks like its stuck with 179 entrants and I can't unregister

if someone can search for tournament # 77406672 and tell me what they see that would be awesome.

Lakers Rolling - Poker good by kNkiDDa, February 14

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4264/64407395iz5.jpg
Been running like shit for about 800 hands. Right at the beginning of the session I had a monster heater and was up 2 buy ins within the first 150 hands. After then all began to go downhill. Bet draws never came, lost couple of 80/20 and AKs vs JJ preflop in a Blind battle.
When the session was nearing its end, luckily a huge donkey was so kind to stack off to my QQ preflop.

Regarding my future career..., it is almost settled that I will go being an entrepreneur after this semester is over. With a little help from my parents and couple of friends I will try to start something(will not go into the details as of yet). Poker will remain a side income. Once I am at NL100 / NL200 it can be quite useful.

Overall I am not quite satisfied with my results. Though not it a downswing I have observed that I severly lack postflop agression. I can't really imagine how ToT Midian gets up to such high aggro rates .
Will try to fix that after reviewing my session. Gotta go play basketball now.
GL to all.
iDDa.

1/4th done by DustySwedeDude, February 14

I said that I'd play 100k hands at NL200 before I try higher limits again and so far I've done 1/4th of it. So far so good even though I played pretty bad yesterday which lowered my winrate a bit. Since I multitable pretty hard (8 tables, and prima's tables are fast) I just removed my stats cause they're too nitty for me. I'm kinda embarrassed. Overall I'm pretty happy with how things are going lately.

Random Thoughts by Fox, February 14

Poker is a hard game. I need a full time sensei. The End.

MMA is going great i'm thinking about going to seminar in Cal that apparently will have bas/bravo. Dunno i haven't checked into details yet.

Had a long convo with Naz about games like dota/war3/starcraft/CS/etc and the amount of strategy vs hand speed/reaction time that it takes to be good.

I used to be an ok starcraft player and I say that SC is more hand speed and reaction time then it is strategic thought. Naz disagrees and thinks that the reason i don't give starcraft it's due is because i used to be a decent player and i underestimate the time/effort i put into it to get good. He's probably right i did play for years...

Also i give more respect for teamwork based games like CS/dota/etc then i do single player games like starcraft. Now I'm not saying someone like fRod is just a superior gamer to someone like jaedong... But more that i respect the teamwork/communication aspect of his skill. I think all those games require skill just different types of it.

In any case poker is harder then all of that, although i bet if i put as much time into poker as i did starcraft (3-6 hours a day) i'd be much better lol.

HU to the grind by NeillyJQ, February 14

for the people flaming my blog like loco, I'm going to explain why i did what i did over the last month.

I had 5-7k in the bank at all times and never cared much about my online br.

well, after a severe downswing mostly caused by learning HU from Raszi, and going on an ego trip thinking i was god at hu, i've come to realize the only way i can make it in this game.

I'm going to rush to NL50 going through the microstakes as fast as i can and move to NL50 when i hit a G. I plan to stay there until my Br hits 5k.

I'm taking bets up to $1,000 that I get to NL50 and stay there for atleast and achieve $5k there.

PM me if your interested.

And if u don't like the blog, don't open it, jackass.

GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe) (SUPERNOVA BITCHES)

the grind by NeillyJQ, February 13

well, after months of trying to gamble my way into a large BR, I realize the only way to do this is on 100 bi's from NL2 to NL1000.

So i started over today with 20 bucks.

I've won around 10 bi so far today and working my way back up.

I want to stop being a degen and be a winner again.

Goals are set, its time to execute.

i am so bad by WilsWils, February 13

ugh ive been break even @ 100nl for the last 8-10k hands the last few days, feels like ive been breakeven forever, which i have if i include my last 3-4 shots -.-

so fricking annoying , i've been making adjustments to the way i play in certain pots and it's just shit all over me in some cruel twist of fate

for e.g the one time i dont 3bet AKs i end up getting stacked by A7 on A72 board , i am so bad

the thing is i recognize these leaks / mistakes too late and by then it's like !@%!%!@%!%!@%!@%

i also got raped by FTP software "lag" you know , where the software decides to "cling" to your mouse and then pause momentarily. ended up donating a BI to andrew song after attempting to repop a squeeze he did from the SB w/ 1010

/shrug

ive been getting raped in the big pots but winning all the small / medium ones

TT

-4bi day meh
