My dad... by Moffa, February 19

So as you all may know, yesterday was Presidents day, which is a federal holiday. My father had the day off and I had to go to class. I got out of class and went to my mother job to fix her businesses computers and my phone rings...and it's my dad.

I say "hello?" into the phone, but I hear nothing but silence....strange.

Then all of a suddent Rick Astley starts playing.

My 47 year old dad fucking rick rolled me over the phone.

stupid federal holidays.

How to conduct a long term stake? by mikeymoo, February 19

It's not worth it for me to ask this in the Main Poker section, so hoping I get some answers here.

Right now I have a bunch of people (friends, family) willing to stake me to try my hand at poker.

Could someone just give me an example of a long term stake, i.e. Person A gives X amount of dollars, and what is expected of both parties?

Thanks.

PS: Any other general advice is appreciated, too.

home sick... by Ond keso, February 19

Was home from work today, im a little sick...but mostly i didnt feel like going to work, was much better to stay home and watching sopranos all day with my girlfriend and when she went to work play some poker...

good day, been running 20/17/3.6 and won couple of buyins.

gonna stop posting beats and hands where its obvious what i was doing wrong, sens there is nothing to comment.

some hands from today:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/388545
both are kinda solid players...should i play it different PF? what do i do as played?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/388540
this is like the 2nd or 3d time he does this, open raise so much, should i shove here or check/shove a safe flop?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/388539
We have some 3-bet history and i wanted my c-bet to look weakish, is it ok or should i just protect myself against draws more?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/388538
Not sure about his range here, he has been check/calling alot from the SB. First time he fights back.

back to my roots by nutshot, February 19

Nits:

After a few weeks of getting rear ended by Lee Jones Jr at 100NL and a shot of 200NL, I need to get back to rebuilding since I've got little money to speak of online.

Thusly, I'm going to return to the $4.40 180man SNGs to attempt to rebuild my life.

the first stake i cashed out some winnings

the second stake i didnt do well at all.. was one of the worst mtt players on stars at that point. was mentally fucked up

i deposited some of my own money to play 100nl and lost

then lost a little money that was loaned (not staked) to me to play 100nl

so... not busto but not robusto... closer to busto =O

If anyone has any better ideas, plz to PM or post them here.

This is where it all starts. by 100Large, February 19

So i've decided i want to fool around with poker and see how far i can take it, and if i can take it far enough to use it as a source of income worldwide, no matter where i am. I've always thought of my self as an above average player and i love to gamble.

I was introduced to poker in the summer of 2005 by my friends much older room mate, he was also the first person to bring me to a "poker house" for a $60 dollar 2 table SNG (this was all new for me, i felt very intimidated everyone was at least 27+ , i was only 18) i was short stack in the final table, went All in with Ace-rag,lost.

Every since then i've been playing friendly home games with friends, some of them played online and introduced me to that. I deposited 50 and lost it all in two days playing .25/.50 way out of my range game wise and bankroll. After that i final tabled a 2500 man Free roll for 9th place ($100) but i lost it all again in .25/.50, i thought it was rigged and quit lol decided to continue with the home games.

Recently i met a long time friend of mine from Starcraft Brood War in real life, turns out he plays online for a living and is making roughly 100k a year. (WOW!)I was also aware a lot of ex-starcraft players had turned to poker and where killing it. Elky, Nazgul, Rekrul. Could there be some sort of similarity between Starcraft and Poker? (i heard about this site from teamliquid.net)

So my Starcraft friend [CF]Canibus , backed me for 50 bucks for the start of my poker career. Went up to 70 after some solid play, but foolishly decided to play drunk coming home from the club (learned i should only play poker sober now, no weed or alcohol) now i'm sitting on 63.

Last night i final tabled a 360 man $2 dollar tourney (what is this telling me ? I've only played about 4 tourney's in my poker career and final tabled two of them, this is making me want to pursue MTT play over Ring)I have to thank Scott Fischman and his book "ONLINE ACE" which I has given me a general strategy of how to play in each of the stages of MTT's and SNG's.

Heres how i lost at the final table.

$10 UNLOCKED by R_I, February 19

So after paying Poker Stars like $45 in rake they finally deemed me worthy to get the $10 deposit bonus for reaching 100FPP.

To help me celebrate, PS rigged the tables for me so I started my 500 hand session with $119 and ended up with $147 including the bonus. I probably would've ended up with more but I was fucking everyone's shit up so I made a few spews knowingly. I was just like, oh it doesn't matter because I'm winning quite a bit anyway. Gotta watch out for that in the future -___-

Anywho, I think it's pretty good progress after 5 weeks. The 147 is pure profit because I paid back my staker (silverrrr) already. Can't wait to reach 200 so I can take shots at 2c5c.

gl hf at the tables

Looking good again by jase, February 19

Well last week or so I've been playing less but winning more, after big drop in my BR to about $15 as a result of a downswing and tilt I'm back up to roughly $90 which is where I started at, but I'm happy, check out my sharkscope if you like; xghjase @ stars. That huge downswing is a result of losing 16 out of 18 coinflips and then going on tilt and playing $5 HU and still getting my chips in good and losing.

I'd really like to take a shot at a $4/180man but I think it's probably bad bankroll management if I do so I'm going to ask my friend Mishca to stake me for it and I'll give him 40% of profits, he's been playing really solid poker on Pokerstars also lately and is doing well for himself in both low-limit SNGs and some low-limit MTTs.

This week I'm going to be searching for a job for the year while I defer from university, it's starting to get difficult with no money and I already owe my parents $400 from schoolies (basically its like a spring break for aussies after they finish year 12), so I feel bad asking to borrow from them in the meantime.

Also I've been playing live poker in the local leagues, I'm coming top 10 out of about 500 people in one local league so I'll be able to play in the State final at Crown Casino in March next year which will be so awesome! That leaderboard can be found here; http://npl.com.au/Leaderboards.aspx?ID=4 - I'm jase blennerhassett.

Last night I played in a league I'm still pretty new to called APL (Australian Poker League), I've only played there a few times but I've become pretty well known making final table twice in my first two events, usually there's about 110 people but it's expanding every week. Last night at APL I got drawn out for the regional final which is in a few weeks which should be pretty sweet, it'll be a slower blind structure I hope instead of blinds doubling every 15min which they do at each event currently.

Reading through the 'Post your setup' thread is pretty cool so here's a picture of a 17yr old ballas setup;
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/2162/p1010017dl0.jpg

BTW Goanna Oil (top left of the picture) is I use to keep my pet goanna nice and shiny and also the best thing to clean out my pet kangaroos pouch before I jump in it on the way into town

HAHA, almost forgot, I laughed pretty hard at this today - http://my.break.com/Content/view.aspx?ContentID=455084
Also if any rich people with tens of thousands of dollars would be interested in staking me for a few (and by a few I literally mean only 2 or 3) $4 /180 I'd give you 40% profit, just don't want to get into the habit of bad BR management, AGAIN.

update time by okyougosu, February 19

I didn't put in new blog entries recently because I'm not much of a blog addict, but however I feel want to post these
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/7118/newyearstatsqq7.jpg
are my latest poker stats(which missing like 50-60k hands on fulltilt). Late 2007 i've been going out alot and never played near that much, but i've always been winning player longterm and still made a decent bankroll for 10/20 where I kept run well and winning too, but then one day I lost like 40k playing hu with extremely aggro reg who was pushing pre any ace high, and, needless to he say did very good at catching all his cards. One evil comes - a million follow: I went nuts the very next day and decided to put 10x more hours in this game turning myself into online nerd, reading more forums and articles and getting my plays to higher level. After like two weeks recovered all mine losses I realized how much more I can make. Also I was fine with this new lifestyle described as "sitting eating shitting sleeping pokering". Most of the time my friends who got no idea about what poker is ask me to go out were said to fuck off i'm and extremely busy greedy nerd and thats all. And the result of it all is shown above. My game became better lately but I definitely got a lack of luck these days and dark thoughts prevail in my head.
So what is the reason we are getting shit on by god damn pokergods for an extended period of time? I don't really know... guess its something beyond humanity knowledge, or either I need some coaching.
What am igoing to do about it now is to keep it up for several more days, then if i keep losing gotta totally change lifestyle.
