It's not worth it for me to ask this in the Main Poker section, so hoping I get some answers here.
Right now I have a bunch of people (friends, family) willing to stake me to try my hand at poker.
Could someone just give me an example of a long term stake, i.e. Person A gives X amount of dollars, and what is expected of both parties?
Thanks.
PS: Any other general advice is appreciated, too.

i;ve done two stakes on liquid so far. pretty easy to just set a number of hands and profit % to chop, ie staker gets original amount staked back + 50% profit over 100k hands or something like that.
make sure you talk about what limits you intend to play as well as your plan for moving up levels/br management type stuff. |

Ah. # of hands makes much more sense. We were going to go like 3 months or something like that. |

well, do you have to make it really sweet? How about they stake you and you return twice/thrice their money or something. If they don't stake you much and you are talking sharing profits over 100k hands you could be losing out on shitloads of profit.
I dunno, depends how much money you need to start with I guess and how much you expect to win. Not quite sure why you want a long term staking instead of getting the money back to them as quickly as possible so you can build "your" bankroll. Oh, unless you plan to play tournaments or something. |

My dad does. He understands the math and wants me to enjoy life. He knows I'm responsible, and let me sign up for free money offers with his info and play. But we decided I should just cash that out and play with my own bankroll, as I'm 18 pretty soon here. I don't think he expects me to do much, and maybe this is his way of teaching me not to gamble- if I go busto.
The goal is to go up to my dad like a year from now and be like "oh yeah Dad, you know that $100 you gave me a while ago? Here's your 10% of my profit.. $100 plus $1000 is $1100... *counts out bills* here you go, thanks."
My mom has lots of gambling problems on her side of the family, so we're not telling her like-- ever. She lost a bunch of relatives and is scared to death that I'm even interested in game theory in the slightest sense. I don't think she realizes how far I am in poker at the moment- even if I don't play online, I study it quite a lot. |

How about you earn some money so you learn the value of it before you start playing |
