Went well imo. I played at the top of my game tbh. Haven't felt in control of a table in a long time.

Anyways good night +3.5 racks at 8/16
I feel good about beating that game. When I have a full roll for 15/30 I'll move up. Unless some huge fish can be found there I'll stick to 8/16 for a while.

Within my first 10 hands, this is the third times it happens. I start my session and 2-3 hands later i get stacked set over set on my first flopped set. Got stacked being favorite 9 to 1 at nl 100 too. I don't tilt anymore but i seriously start to worry for my bankroll -16 bis start to hurt and i wonder if i'll go broke playing good till the end lmao.
Edit: dropped 60$ in donkaments bis, KK lose to 56o and KK lose to QJo within 5 minutes, cash out or break ?
Okay so I'm really lazy. Since the Wynn Classic I've played a total of 3,500 hands online which is pathetic. On top of that, I can't bring myself to write up another epic blog post about my Day 2 of the Main Event at the Wynn, nor can I bring myself to write up the billion other things that are going on in my life right now. So this is going to be a very quick, to the point, cliff noted version of everything I want to say. Enjoy:
Day 2 of the 10k Main Event @ Wynn Classic:
10 minutes into the day I chipped up a little bit from 19k to 24k, then I double up when I raise JJ, flop K-Q-J and turn K vs guy's AQ. I basically made a 1/8th pot bet on the turn and he shoved. Ty ship it. Played a bunch of small pots and slowly chipped up, until finally it all came crashing to an end. My stack was 58k when blinds were at 600/1200. I had been kind of card dead for a while, so I just been folding a lot. I picked up 98ss in UTG+2 and look over at the blinds who were super weak/tight nits, given that I thought my raise would look real strong since I've been folding a lot I popped it up to 3200. Action was folded around to a young kid who I was told plays a lot online, I think Darren Elies was his name, who flat called on the button with a 100k+ stack. He had been fairly tight/aggressive but played a lot of pots in position, so I suspected his preflop call was probably looser than normal with the intention to take the pot away from me in position since he probably viewed me as tight/solid/trappy. Everyone else folded, and the flop came Kh-6d-4h. I went to c-bet then realized this was exactly the type of flop texture this guy would float / raise to try and get me off of my hand. Instead, I decided to check (given he has seen me be trappy with some big hands earlier, using a similar line). He hesitated a bit then checked behind. Turn came As. I lead out for 5500, he counted out his chips and made a pretty quick call. At this point I thought his range was very wide, from a bunch of float type hands calling to bluff the river, to a bunch of marginal hands one pair hands that he just wants to call down with and get to showdown. The river came 7c. I checked, and he didn't take long before firing 15,000 into the 19,000 pot. I took my time, counted out my chips, waited a good 2 minutes and thought through folding vs shoving. In my head I couldn't put him on a hand that could call if I shoved, infact my gut was screaming to shove. And I had been following my gut in every decision up to this point, and my gut had not failed me yet. "Did you know that you have more nerve endings in your gut than you do in your head? Look it up!" -Steve Colbert. Finally I came to the decision to fire it in. In a calm manner, I looked up at the dealer and said "all-in" as the dealer counted out 34,000 more for Darren to call. As soon as I shoved, Darren grunted and pushed himself away from the table. Well that's a good sign! Atleast he didn't snap call lol. After a minute he stood up and stared at the board and then back at his stack. I sat there trying to be as relaxed as possible, as my heart was racing faster and faster the longer he took to make the decision. Finally he sat down and counted out 34,000 and rechecked his stack seeing that he had about 45,000 behind if he called and was wrong. I started to get this sick feeling in my stomach... he's going to hero call me... oh no. Finally after a few minutes Darren pushed the 34k call in and flipped up K7o for an obscure rivered two pair. I mucked and insta left the table. Spent all night thinking about the hand, and I really feel like I'm still comfortable with the play itself but there are some other factors I should have considered: It didn't threaten his tournament life. He had me well covered, and I'm pretty sure this was a key reason why he called, he saw that he had room to continue to grind if he was wrong. Also, the type of player Darren was. He was willing to play pretty loose in position and to do that you need to be making some good reads / call downs from time to time. This play would have been much better vs a nit than vs a smart online player capable of thinking on multiple levels.
...Myth brought up a funny point though: "He didn't read you on a bluff, He thought he sucked out on you on the river." And if that is the case, then I feel really sick because K7o on that board given that action is exactly a bluff catcher, and if he didn't realize that then I just got 3 outed on the river lol. But I really have no reason to believe he misunderstands the game that badly. Just another good player making a good call down in a really critical spot in the tournament, so my hats off to his sick bluff catch.
That tuesday night was St. Patty's day... and since I busted from the main event earlier I went on massive drunken tilt. We went to O'Shea's and played some beer pong. Played some drunken 1-3 NL at the Wynn, and basically went wild on the strip. Standard night. Here is a video of actionDJ and I doing a boat race for $50, and Lyric laughing his ass off in the background. Derric won but cheated obv because he fucking spilled half his beer on his shirt:
Came back to SD and been chilling with my friends and getting my shit together (with taxes and investments and such). Put a good portion of my tournament winnings into CD's at the bank and the rest into a money market account. Been doing a fuck ton of shopping, and now I understand why girls like to shop. It's kind of fun buying shit for yourself. Leaving back to Vegas in 5 hours for the WPT Championships. I ment to leave Friday night but got stuck for another day in SD so now I'm leaving tonight with Rekrul. Going to grind cash games when I get there then get some sleep for the $2,000 event tomorrow. For those wondering: I plan on winning it. I run too good on peachy's money to not win. Ez game. One more time baby! GOGOGO!!!
PS: Made the biggest hustle of a prop bet ever vs Rekrul. I bet him he can't drink a sip of alcohol til the 18th of April (when ElkY gets back into Vegas) for $1,000. Ship it ez? He won't make it past tomorrow.
Last night I convinced my friend Justin to come out and play poker with me out at the bowling alley. They have 1/2 cash tables seven days a week. I hadn't gone in awhile and pretty much just needed to play some cards. Before we even walked in there I told him that I was feeling the money tonight. We get in there and I wait about twenty minutes for a table, finally get an open seat so I buy in for $100, mainly because I can't really afford to use much more than that.
First table: Everyone is playing pretty tight I hit a couple hands make some v-bets and c-bet bluff and get up to about 220 pretty soon. I get into trouble later on when I make a pretty questionable raise with QcJs from the bb. I raise to 10, folds around to the cutoff who calls (he's kinda been playing pretty loose) and then boom, dealer raises to like 25. . .I figure wth and call knowing that cutoff is calling that all day. flop is xsxsQs. I check, cutoff checks and dealer bets something dumb like 20, I call, cutoff pushes in for like 10 more me and dealer both just call. Turn is Qd, at this point I was kinda nervous and bet like 21 dealer hesitates and calls river is a spade. . I check, dealer bets 30 and I call hoping she has tens or some shit, but she turns over KK with the flush and cutoff flips the As. That was a pretty dumb hand but it was like my only bad hand of the night. After that I get back up to like 270ish without seeing another showdown. Our table gets small and then broken up so I move to another table that my buddy Justin is at.
Second Table: During a couple breaks in between hands, Justin was telling me how crazy his table was. I sit down and get dealt in utg right away. Pretty active table everyone starts talking about how they wanted it to be a family pot so I look down and see pocket tens and raise to ten I get about 4-5 callers. to my left dealer sb and bb fold. Flop is 7J2, I'm feeling pretty good about it so I bet out 20, I get one caller. . turn is 10 so I'm a little tipsy which means I get really friendly in a wierd way. So I'm like "Listen bud. . .I got a pretty good hand. So I don't wanna bet too much and scare you away, but you don't have that many chips left." So I bet 20 again and he pushes for like 5 more and I call and he flips over 99 ez hand. After that the table just kind of exploded allins left and right crazy hands, people callin all in bets on the turn with no pair no draw hoping for the river. Anyway this place we go to can only sell a maximum of 15,000 in chips for the night, and on tournament nights they sell out pretty early, and the only way to buy in once they sell out is to buy from another player. So this older Asian guy gets up and goes and talks to this younger Asian guy, and young Asian guy obv wants to buy chips so I'm all like hush hush "Yeah, I'll sell you some chips," cause I had a lil over 300. So I get up and go into the other room so the pit boss doesn't see us and sell him the chips. He sits at our table about four seats to my left. The first hand this guy is in I get dealt QQ in about middle postion. Fuckin beautiful. So I raise to 17 and get two callers, one of them being the young asian guy. The flop comes 884 and I'm first and bet out about 25, the other caller folds and this Asian guy just looks at me staring me down for like 3 seconds and says "Awwin" for about 70ish more. Back to me and I'm like "Fuck. He could have that 8. . .but naahhhhh. I call all day." I confidently flip over my queens and he looks at me and shakes his head and says "Ohh I no think you call" and turns over Kqo. Turn A river blank ez money ). So yeah this guy just shipped me all the chips I just sold to him and now he's busto again. lol. So now he gets up from the table and goes over to the older Asian guy, whispers something and then heads into the other room. The old Asian guy is like "You go sell him more?" I'm like "lol ya" So I go and sell him some more chips and he comes back to the table. After that I didn't really have any monumental hands. . .just a couple good ones. One that really stuck out above the rest was a 9 way family pot everyone limped in. . .I call with 10 9 off. Flop is nothing other than J78, with two hearts. . .I'm like booyaaabeatch. It checks to me and I just bet out 20. I get one call to my left and one to my right from this dude who was playing reeallly tight all night. . .never saw him raise a hand. Turn is a blank no flush no higher st. or anything so dude to my right (tight guy) is looking like he's gonna bet, but he stops and looks at me and says "Man, are you gonna be a bully?" I'm like "Of course" he goes "Really??" looking noticeably upset. I look back at him practically telling him I have the nuts and say "Really." So he checks and I bet out 60. The fucking dumbass to my left looks down at his cards and picks them up and shows them to his bud next to him, The dealer (who was fucking being sloppy the whooooole Goddamn night) shouts. "Exposed Cards! Hand is Mucked!!!!" The guy looks pretty upset and throws his cards in. But I'm fucking pissed I'm like "Are you fucking serious??" He looks at that dude who he force mucked and says "I just saved you sixty bucks" and then looks back at me and kinda smirks. Anyway it gets back to the nit to my right and he fucking takes forrrrever. Keeps saying "Man, good bet. Good bet." And he starts talking he's like "I wanna hit it soooo bad." He looks at me and says "Man you can't beat my draw if I hit, can you?" I'm like "No. But I fucking know what you're drawing to so you're not getting any more moneys outta me if you do." He takes so long that someone ends up calling a clock and Mr. Tardo dealer starts counting down from like a million and he finaaaly calls after saying "Good bet" like 20 more times. The river is a ten and he checks. I check behind knowing he won't call any bet of mine, and he flips Kh5h lol.
But yeah I played for about another 15-20 min and just called it quits. With the 200 in my pocket from Mr. Awwin Asian guy and what I had on the table I left with about $650. Felt soo good, I got soo nervous tho I had to go and deposit it in the bank. I hated walking around with that cash. . .especially since I'm not a balla. . . .yet. thx for reading. It was quite a night.
I've been on lp for over 2 years, and I have 4 post! I think it's time to get a little more interactive.
I made a hands bet for april with someone (for 20 bucks lol). Lots of stipulations..
1. I am only allowed to have a 5 or less multi table ratio, he is only allowed 3.
2. I am playing 6 max nl25, he is playing nl50 heads up.
3. At the end of the month he gets 10k extra hands added.
4. If I am no longer rolled for nl25, i can move down to nl10, but can only 4 table max.
That's pretty much it.
I made a bet with another friend after i made that bet that I could play 40k in one month for $15. Is that unethical???
Well anyways, I got a slow start because we just made this bet yesterday, but I ran god for the first 2k hands!
Another milestone has been reachedby Gawuss, April 05
Today I managed to cross the $20,000 line Since the beginning of 2008 I've doubled up my bankroll. I'm really happy about it. However, I could've done it faster heh Now I'm going to put more hands in every month and manage to make my BR 5 times bigger than it's now and I want to make it until the end of this year.
March was pretty swingy. I won over $3,6k though (including all bonuses and tourneys). My PT database is not complete cause I had some problems with importing all hands but for about 10 days it's ok.
March (my parents banned me from internet for a week so I didn't play much plus school kinda didn't let me play more) http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r98/gawuss/march2008.jpg
And April (well.. I didn't have much time to play but I'm sure I'll play at least 20k hands this month) http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r98/gawuss/april1-5.jpg
(btw. all of 2/4nl is from 5max tables)
I wish I had some graphs (these from PT suck so I won't post them) - poker grapher doesn't work for me and I have no idea why.
A few days ago I ordered 4 FTP Bears I thought that I have nothing else to do with 5k FTP points so I bought them :D
Well, I guess there's nothing else interesting to write about this time. Good luck to everyone
Oh god, trying to do internet check in on Air France is just godawful... The main page can't even load properly. I hate Air France.
Twice a year there are 2 major TV conferences in Cannes that three of us from our company go for. This year my boss asks me, "how many of us should go?"
I give this long explanation of our company's aims and resources and conclude, "just one. You. 'cos you're the boss."
And he says, "I don't really want to go. You go."
And I have to go. 'cos he's the boss.
So in 5 hours I'm going to be stuck on one of Air France's crappy planes for like 12 hours or something to fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport. I'll be stuck in Charles de Gaulle Airport for SIX HOURS from 6am to 1240pm on a Sunday morning. That airport sucks. I'm seriously thinking that I should take a train into town and ATTEND MASS because there is BLOODY NOTHING TO DO in Charles de Gaulle Airport.
And I bet it's going to be fish or chicken on the flight. It is always bloody fish or chicken every single time I go, cooked in exactly the same way. Why can't they change the menu? Why can't they improve the quality so I don't stare in disgust at fish ala crap and refuse to let any of it pass my lips? They're French, right? They cook well, right?
Then after the stopover it's another flight to Nice, whose airport is anything but nice, and then a bus to Cannes. Then an UPHILL WALK with my luggage to the hotel in the middle of nowhere because there was only one room in one hotel near the conference venue in town available, and its bathroom was out of order.
And there is bloody NOTHING TO DO in Cannes when I don't have meetings. I've requested a Pokertrack reg no. for my laptop. I'm going to sit in my room playing poker for half of Wednesday, half of Thursday and the whole of Friday until my eyes bleed and my wrist cracks. That is, if the internet is working because it wasn't the last time I was there.
Oh, this is all I need after throwing sheep shit at orchids in the rain.
Thanks for reading. I feel better now. Bet I'll feel bloody awful in 5 hours time, though.
I'm so sick of the cycle. I consistently have 100-400 dollar days at micro stakes, and then what happens? well i drink... thats what the fuck happens. and i log on for an hour and lose 400-500 asap... AT MICRO/LOW STAKES. if it werent for drinking + poker, i would have god knows how much in my stars accnt, but instead i get drunk and have a tendency to click and drag the bet cursor when i know im fucking dominated... im so sick of this. i turned 90 dollars into 1100 in 1 week, and no it wasnt from fucking running good. trust me, i put in my hours. and then tonight i log on for 1 fucking hour and lose 400... i drank 3 nights this week, losing about 1k total combining each of those nights. if it werent for that, i'd have turned 90 dollars into 2k in 12 days... FUCK
Yea I know, 4k break even session is standard but it just felt really full of variance. This always happens to me on weekends tho. I know I'm playing good (for the most part) but I'll occasionally get too fancy/spewy against the wrong players. The most retarded stuff tilts me too, like losing with sick combo draws vs tp no kicker or the one time of the night the lagtard 60/30 guy to my right shows up with AA against my YES QUEENS! Don't really have any hands to show right now cuz I'm tired (and lazy) as fuck... but I really felt it was necessary to make this motivatior
And it continues (April no goot)by PanoRaMa, April 05
I don't know why this happens but at the start of every month I'll run good/feel good for the first several thousand hands then go on an immediate losing streak. I can't say I played that well but the constant straight over straights, flush over flushes, big pair vs big pair preflop in squeeze situations can really just straight up ruin everything I've worked for this past few days. Meh, -3.2k today, hope I can bring it back up soon
I thought things were going badly for me so I finally put all my hands into PT and used PokerEV to take a looksey - Somehow I'm still not totally demoralized, but I swear it's all just a huge shit in my face every day. I play really solid poker and manage to win a little bit, then variance smacks me in the face and coolers come back to back and smack me around and I lose more than I won. I get away from the comp to avoid tilt, get my head on straight, come back, and slowly win it all back and then lose even more to be at a new low. Rinse and repeat.
I can't wait to just run like god for a week straight.
My Sun used to rise every day
The people, they used to gossip about our weather
Somehow though, we always knew the future’s forecast
"Good Riddance" they shouted as I departed
I went on a venture to the other side of the moon
I made mistakes on my voyage
But I always knew around the corner there you were
Your warmth, so comforting.
Now it only storms chaos
It bleeds a certain shade of crimson, peculiarly eminent
Without my sun im always in the dark
Shadows cast from hell;
They cover the hope
Utopia used to exist
And now it’s only falling apart
A few weeks ago I noticed a supernova elite satellite and out of curiosity I checked to see if there was anyone I knew. To my surprise I saw several mid-stakes cash players, including Treysfull and DCalZone. These guys play the same stakes as me and had over 1million vpps last year and I only had 150k lol, so I realized I really need to play more. I decided to start 8 tabling instead of the 4-6 tables I had been doing, and I also started playing exactly 4 hour sessions which is longer than the 1-3 hours I typically play. I had really nice results in march so hopefully I can continue it. My goal is 300k vpps this year, and I only got 20k in the first two months of this year combined so I'm going to have to play a ton. Wish me lucks!
