Still learning and fixing my leaks in hu sng. found a bunch of hu sn blogs, reading articles, watching some videos and reading as many 2+2 hu articles and posts as possible. i hope that will bring much to my game.
also working a bit on roll. just gathered 1/5 amount of needed deposit
today downloaded poker tracker 3 beta to find out or will it be usful for my game (never ever used it before)but this shit makes me crazy: i auto imported hh from the file but it shows all my games as lost ;(, on stars when i watch the table as observer theres no hud stats, on full ring the hud stats appears but they fucked up all over tha table and i cant make it normal and so on so on.. becoming a pro isnt a piece of cake
(btw. can anybody give me some links where i can found out about the ace hud stats? i once found such article on pocketfives i think but cant find it now, would appreciate any help)
but i found something that makes me believe that i can overcome my weakness and become winning player. today ive read this thread on 2+2 by MasterLJ and he wrote the history of how he began to play poker, got busted a milion times but still managed to fight with his bad habits and become a winnin player:
I went over the basics a few posts above, if there's anything I didn't answer feel free to ask.
When I started on FTP I'd always start off with like 50-100 bucks and play $5 SNGs. If I ran bad I'd sometimes Martingale (NOT recommended). It was just such a boring grind. I played the 10s once I got passed $120, then 20s once I got passed 250. Then I'd go as high as the 50s after 500 with random shots at 100s. You probably notice how that's a pretty bad plan.
Then I started playing 6max. 25NL, then 50nl. I did really well in both. 100nl 6m killed me. After getting owned I started back with full ring, did 25nl, then 50nl, then 100nl. I had a lot of success there just before the IronMan and ended up playing 100nl 6max, where I had some success as well.
As for learning I mostly frequented the forums. I learned a lot of the basics here, if there was something I didn't understand I'd try to make sure I understood it. Pretty soon I learned that I was my own worst enemy when it came to learning. I'd learn the lessons, but not apply them to my game. I kept making the same mistakes over and over. HU was my game naturally, so I was a winner right off the bat when I moved to HU NL cash. I started at the 100 level and was a 7PTBB winner over a pretty decent sample. Then I noticed there was a few spots I was lost and that I was autopiloting a lot. I forced myself to 1 table and think about EVERY decision. I did this for thousands and thousands of hands trying to reinforce discipline. I did stupid stuff around my house like forcing myself to make my bed just to build the discipline I was lacking. All of this lead to some monumental gains in my game.
In November of 2006 I had taken a job with an IT company doing IT staffing. I was promised a lot and was #2 guy in the division. I have a lot of business experience so it was exciting to build a new division for my company. I ended up doing grunt work and making a lot of money for an owner who was a complete ass. I'd never been so needlessly belittled in a work environment. The only reason I stayed was due to the #1 guy in my division (my boss) who was just awesome and very supportive of my poker. In May we made 100k+ in profit for the company. Very early June the owner rewarded his company's best month by cutting commissions. Not to mention I had started to learn that there was a bunch of fraudulent/illegal activity going on. Now my dreams of a 6-figure salary and really getting in there and making a ton of money were pretty much crushed. We had to do a lot more volume to make less money and the owner was putting up barriers for us everywhere. He took away quite a few opportunities for us to make money due to the fact that he paid himself out of a certain team's commissions, so he'd naturally move the juiciest accounts over to that team (which was not our team to be clear). Such a stupid way to pay yourself as a boss but meh.
To relate that to poker, in July of 2007 I had hit my goals I had set for myself. I had a 10k bankroll and was playing very well, so I decided to put in my notice. In hindsight, 10k is nowhere near ideal for a bankroll for a professional poker player. I've been blessed with pretty quick success in that respect, but I really think 30k + money in the bank + proven track record of winning at 400nl (6m or HU) is bare minimum for going pro.
I quickly moved up to 200nl and took some shots at up to 5/10. I ran worse than I ever thought possible and my 22k bankroll was reduced to 9.5k. I was shattered. I learned a lot of good lessons in that run and I learned a lot about myself. I picked up the pieces and quickly came back. I knew I was a solid winner at 1/2 so I said I'd play there unless my bankroll dipped below 8. It got very very close. I rebounded and went on to be a 12.79 PTBB winner over 43k hands and moved up to 2/4 where I've done well, but it's actually my worst stake performance-wise at 8.27 PTBB. From there I went up to 3/6. That has been the softest level by far. I started taking shots at 5/10 when my bankroll was about 70k or so and have been crushing there since. My BR was up to 110k and I started taking shots at 10/20. I've played very very well there and was winning for like 20 PTBB over a smallish sample until last week. A donk just couldn't miss and when he was behind, he outdrew me. Nothing too bad. On the same day I lost 12k at 10/20 I decided to take a shot at 25/50 since I figured I had nothing to lose (this was last week). I got the perfect candidate, but I still lost 2 BIs. I'm happy with how I played and I'm OK with my decisions. I was definitely being more aggressive with my BR and I accepted the risks. In response to that swing I withdrew some cash to build my bank accounts and I am now back to grinding 5/10 and 3/6 for the time being.
so as you can see theres hope for me..
as to the non poker related stuff some great news: I HAVE QUIT MY JOB and i feel grat about it. now i will have more time to focus on really important things. when i walked down the street as i left the office i worked at i just felt like a new born man, preety fuckin amazin feelin SHIP IT!! this week my and my friends going out to celebrate me becoming unemployed student!! SHIP IT x2
wanted posted some hands to hear some discussion about it but i didnt have pt earlier so i couldnt find the hh, nevermind i will post many very soon.
s0o i think thats all by far, poker online break continues, but i hope to play a bit live next week, and life poker thats my thing, i owe those suckers (johny cosmo would say: i tottaly rape those bitches!!) just as i seat down the table but sadly didnt have much time to play lately but thats about to change
title of this entry comes obv from Pink Floyd song, the lyrics maybe doesnt apply to my situation, but its still great song
Been looking at this site for a while for a much more idle poker habit. I play microstakes (25nl) so fairly casually and with uni work increasing soon I'll be playing less than normal. I've been thinking that because pkr isn't compatable with pokertracker it'll have very few regs, and the intensive advertising and ridiculous USP (zomg I can make my person do tells) will make it fishy. If I'm not playing seriously then I may be better off on a site like pkr than stars.
I haven't been playing poker this past week and been studying my ass off for one of my nursing courses which is Pathology (tough course). Please wish me good luck because I need to pass this course or I can't move on to the next year in my program. My exam starts at 7pm tommorow. Once exam week is over i'll tell you guys what my poker schedule is going to be since i'm going to have 4 months off to do what i wish. Until my next bog, take care everyone
Ugh, started this session out by winning 5 buyins, then it seem I hit a wall, and just slowly lost from there. This is probably the best session I've played, which isn't saying much from only 3 sessions, but I felt I was making the right moves more often now. Still had a few donk moves, that keeps me from being even.
Just frustrated that looks like I'm going to have another losing day. I still have like 27-28 buyins at nl5, so I should be good for awhile, but not if i keep having days like yesterday and today. Going to go play some bball now or something, get my mmind off poker, Might put in another session tonight. We'll see. Wish me luck as I hustle some ppl at bball lol. "Do it for Basketball".
Down a lil over 100 on tourneys and shit too. Long trying month where I'm just getting coolered endlessly. If I wasn't sucking out regularly, it'd be a lot uglier.
25nl is working out awesome for me. I played an 2,5 hour session fullring, 6 tables. Result: up 5 buyins. I think 25nl is actually easier than 10nl because the opponents play more predictable. Got my money in good mostly. Few badbeats but they where against shortstackers so it could have been worse lol. GL to you all
April has been terrible for me. I'm exactly $3600 down this month with cash games and tournaments combined. I've been running really bad but the thing is that I believe I've been playing very decent.
It's like becoming a pattern that I run good one month and the next one bad. I don't know why because It's not like I change my style every month or something like that...
January: $21,527
February: $6500
March: $10271
April: $3600
I don't remember having a session like today's before... It was just weird, tons of setups and suckouts. Had a few NL200 and NL400 tables going and I was very calmed down. Played about 1k hands but things just didn't work out.
AQvsAJ AIPF at NL200 for a 260bb pot
I've been playing with Sweet.kr for a long long time and I remember him as a huge huge nit. This month, he has loosen up a little and plays 22/20. He was 3betting me light the whole day and insta 4betting me a lot of times... I've seen him make bad calls preflop like this time and the results are not different. He is a poker God. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/425837
QQvsAK AIPF at NL200 for a 248bb pot
I was 3betting this guy often enough for him to make a 4bet-tilt raise. I had him running at 24/21 so its not like I put my money in vs a huge nit. Plus his 4bet was huge so I was sure I had him preflop. Flop sucked, cause the only hands I beat were AQ+ and 99. Turn was awesome, AQ made the nutstraight and AK TPTK. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/425853
SetoverSet at NL400 for a 200bb pot
Standard and very gay I have to say it. Guy had like 10hands in the table and his luck to the max gave him a set over set when his seat was still cold. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/425854
AAvsAAvsKK AIPF at NL400 for a 300bb pot
UTG nit playing 10/10 over 120hands raises with AA and because of his nittyness, I 3bet him 4xhis raise with AA too. Very LAG player that I have a history with 4bets and puts half his stacks in. UTG instacalls and my thoughts were, because of my bad run and kinda dissapointed for the last beats, "AAvsKKvsQQ yay, lets see a KQx flop". Close. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/425856
I guess I'm gonna have to stop playing in April and play non-stop at May when my good run returns. Or stop at Stars and give other sites a try like Titan/ipoker. Definitely not FTP lol :D
glgl
According to EV I should be up, but if I'd avoided about 10 mistakes over the last 3 days I'd be up a little anyway. Haven't run especially horrendous so that's good, though I don't seem to get paid off very often lately and I run horrible vs shortstacks. I can't wait for the day that I get it in pre vs a 15BB stack with AK and it wins the race vs his small PP. Haven't seen that in ages. Hell, I rarely even see AK hold up vs AT these days in the shortstack races. At least I'm not having that sort of luck in big pots - Pretty much every time I hit a big hand and get it in I hold, so that's been quite nice.
I am playing 4 tables most of the time and usually 300-500 hand sessions, so for 3 days this is a decent # of hands for me. Played 1 really long 1,700 hand session last night with a tiny profit at the end. Oh well. Good thing is that I'm overall still up, which is a good feeling after being down so many times in the past. I think this has been a stretch of walking the line. I feel like a few less mistakes and I'm up 4-5 buyins, and a few more mistakes and I'm down 4-5 buyins. The thing is, I think that I've avoided a lot of mistakes that I'd normally make which has me breakeven right now opposed to in the negatives like I used to be. If I can clean up my game a bit more I can take a cold run of cards and still make some nice profit.
Today I did a lesson with p1mpdaddy from Austria. This was pleasant because I like the Austrian accent. We talked in German, which I usually don't do because all the specific poker terms are English and you always end up using a terrible slang of mixed up German and English.
The lesson itself went OK I think, although there weren't too many interesting spots and we fucked up one AJ hand due to my poor advice, anyhow, it was a winning session for p1mpdaddy on NL100.
Basically he said that he played too weak-tight and I showed him how to play more loosely, especially when in position, and I told him to c-bet more hands, which he didn't do before.
After that I did a session for myself, which went quite ok, but not as good as last week, my winrate fell to like 4.5BB/100, check out todays results (so far, might play another session tonight):
This one is ridiculous: I had no history with the guy. If that is the case, I usually 3bet a few mediocre hands because the first times you get respect, and after I've done that, I can start 3betting my monsters as well.
He called me and I flopped an open-ender with one overcard. He check-raised me, with that odds I have to call. We were racing and I lost. But the cards he showed up surprised me.

My opponent is a regular who sat at several of my tables, and he probably has running a HUD as well, which shows that my attempt to steal is higher than my preflop raise percentage, basically meaning that I try to steal blinds. Well, the same is true for him.
Knowing that I raise the button weak, he knows that he can 3bet my lightly, knowing this...
You get the idea

Don't know why the king scared me on flop but didn't on turn. Didn't understand that he was using a b-bet on flop and fell for it,

Good thing is that I didn't tilt a little bit, no matter what happend.
I definitely need to play more poker, because it's my source of income at the moment and probably will be until I have my degree, since I don't feel like doing shitty part time jobs again.
So I think I should play poker instead of wasting time in following the epic downfall of NeillyJQ or doing other random bullshit.
But this leads to this question: Is it +EV to play poker although you don't feel like doing it? I get FPPs, but that should not be motivation to play more, because my winrate is probably lower then.
Another question: Is it better to play less tables and really following what is going on or doing some semi-mechanical approach and 10-table? It's basically the same. On one hand you do play more hands, which should mean more profit. On the other hand it is probably better to play less tables in order to improve.
Some Real Life stuff:
University started again this week, but first week is not too important. Wanted to go to lecture this morning, but I already was late, then it started raining (I ride a bicycle), so I thought: "Fuck it".
That lecture is not important, so who cares.
Gonna learn Japanese this semester and tomorrow I have my first lesson, I am quite excited.
I also want to start to train MMA myself, because it's simply badass and if you get into a fight it's better to end up as the winner than as the loser. So I signed up for the MMA training at the university, which is at Friday night. I have lectures on Friday until 8pm or so and directly after that MMA. It's only once a week though, don't know how fast I can progress then.
All this probably leaves not too much time for poker, but we will see.
What blows is that I have lectures in two different cities (Erlangen and Nürnberg) and I regularly have to travel between these two locations which costs a shitload of time and nerves.
I want to make this a high quality blog, so I will post some vids or something similar from time to time.
Here is Lily Allen and her song "LDN", hmm, she's hawt and I love the British accent, but not as much as Austrian German, lol.
So first i'll introduce myself. I am 19 year old from Bulgaria playing poker online for about 3 - 4 months. The start was very shitty i was stuck on 25 nl like forever, but last two months had a good upswing and grind my way to 100nl. I am a student in Sof Uni with law, btw had a exam today and fucked it pretty bad, so i'll have to go June for another session hopefully will study at least a week goddamn it . I am going up to 200 nl this weekend, so wish me luck Here are the stats for this month so far- the last dayz i was "studying" so no poker...
Well, before starting this new challenge I was pretty confident I could maintain a 2.5ptbb/100 winrate over 40k hands at NL25 Full Ring on FTP, without any major variance or swings. Well, I think I was wrong. Either that, or I just suck at this game.

Also, I cant find the HH, but my AA lost to AK all-in preflop for 260BB's as well.
For like the first 2500 hands I was still feeling my around around the level of play at the tables, so lost like 1.5-2 buy-ins through that, but I feel like I know how the tables at this limit play now. To meet my goal of 2.5ptbb/100, after 7.5k hands I should have been up around $90. Well, if I would have won the above pots (total of like $180), I'm probably up overall. So atm I'm not overly concerned that I'm out of my league at NL25. However, my bankroll atm on FTP is sitting at like $300 ($60 of deposit bonus has been released). I'm thinking this is probably a little low to be 8-tabling NL25 FR, as my initial deposit of $400 was pushing it as far as being properly rolled goes. So, new plan is to 4-table NL25 FR for a little while, at least until I'm unstuck from the past 3 days. (bankroll around $475). See how that goes ne way.
Any comments/suggestions are welcome, as always!
Stay on the lookout for updates...
May luck be on my side!

I ussually never tilt even with the biggest bad beats like 3 times 1/2/4 outers on the river on the row or shit like that but yesterday it WAS a VERY VERY ROUGH day in just 550 hands from -20$ i went to -180$. I have NEVER had such a tilt or that kind of a bad session it all began with the normal 2 3 outers then runner flushes etc i was still only -1bi tho then some guy hit 2 out of 4 outer on the turn and river ... well it was a cooler since i didnt have the best hand on the flop either stil after 1k hands i stopped at -1bi
... 5 hours later decided to play some guy 3bet me with J4s. I 4bet him he just calls flop comes Qs4dKs he insta shoves.I insta call with AKd and there is the spade on the turn it even gives him royal flush draw. Ts .I can go through lame 1-2 outer bad beats but when a RETARDED PIECE OF SHIT CALLS A FCKIN 4BET LIKE THAT AND STACKS ME i just go fckin insane http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/8a167be9ede0b13c0013a5877c6183ba.jpg

And a few hands ago, he stacked a guy whose icon was a pic of Yoda.
After going broke several times and almost giving up on poker I'm finaly rolled to move up to 25nl. Had some tilt isues in the past, but decided one month ago to give my self one last chance. Deposited $150 on fulltilt and kept myself to RasZi's bankrollmanagement rules. In just over a month I grinded my way to a $550 roll. I'm so thrilled right now and I'm happy to see all the hours of reading books and watching pokervideo's payed off.
Played for about 6 hours once I got home today, I actually had today off from work, but was at the hospital for ~10 hours, as my mom was having some kind of surgery. I wouldn't have played this long except I was chasing my losses.
Donked off like 8 buyins in first hour and 1/2, then proceeded to start playing solid poker and climbing my way back. First hour and a half I was playing way too loose, limping with hands that I shouldn't have, and just all around playing bad. Got some advice from some peeps on my last blog entry, and once I read those, I decided to tighten up.
Still have some questions on some hands that I know played badly, or i could have got more value on, but I'll post those tomorrow, got to get some sleep now.
Got tomorrow off from work as well, so I'm hoping for a ~ 2.5k hand day or so, We'll see anyway. Need to write myself a message reminding me not to throw away 8 buyins in an hour again lol.
went to ASA elections today. i've never been to their meetings or nothing, but a buddy of mine was running for president so i went. turns out the organization is really passionate about change. imma be an active member next year. turn this campus around!
one guy was making a speech and when he opened it up for questions this girl says "i know you're proud of your Taiwanese culture and i'm cool with that, but what can you say about the fact that you hate the Chinese and have said stuff like Chinese girls are ugly and slutty in the past?" LOL i don't know who or what that guy has done, but that was pretty much the highlight of the event.
shit was intense
never seen so much potential for change.
next year we gonna go the distance
and pump some new blood into its veins
