So my dryspell finally ended, I made some money (like 4k €?) on poker and I got to play a fair bit of mid stakes. The winrate was ok but the number of hands patethic. I'm a bit hungover and I'll start the drinking in about 45 minutes again. Hopefully I'll run into saki or some pretty girl. So happy that I've had 2 decent months in a row, now I can concentrate a bit on some other shit too. GL all.
well, march definitely went worse, so i guess i have that to look up with.
a bit of background is that i played over 200 hours in march and went around $45-->$135 in nl2, nl5 and nl10 with very little information on how to play and no real idea what i was doing. i finished March with SilverStar status.
at the very end of march i met up with Reload on LP who was kind enough to introduce me to the website. for all of April i feel that i improved and played a better game . i did some nl5, nl10, nl25. i was rolled around 135 originally and now i am around 550.
my peak was around 930 at nl25 and for the last 5 or 6 days i have been on a major downward swing, losing about 10 buyins in total. i am sort of on life tilt but to make matters worse i do feel that i am getting a higher than average amount of draw outs / coolers.
of course, i guess every cloud has a silver lining and i pushed a little bit over the top to hit platinumstar for the first time. note that i really have not been playing a lot ever since ive been on a tough swing. because i have been running bad i try not to play too long if i feel i am making bad decisions and etc, so a lot of this came while i was still on a half decent run. maybe i need to play less.
So, on the 7th of april i deposited $300 to stars. I don't remember what happened with that but after paying back debts + running bad initially I was down to $50 and i thought my standard poker practice of going busto was eminent but i hero grinded nl25 with my remaining money at a max of 4 tables until I had $350 or something, lost that down to $100 or something again by being my fucking worthless degen self. I won a $2 6max tournament somewhere in there, and from that day I've been grinding and taking the game seriously.
I'm currently uncomfortable with nl100 because I can feel myself begin to tilt when i play there and tilt for me could result in a catastrophic collapse of my br. I'm just gonna keep taking shots there till i have a roll that comforts me. My stats are pretty much as expected from all of my previous experience at them. I crush the game hardcore and if I can just apply some good old fashioned discipline I know im good enough to beat nl200 or higher for a living and not fucking have a job.
Gotta refresh the memory and enjoy the greatness one more time before Dark Knight comes out. I've avoided watching any DK trailers cause I want to have a serious influx of awesomeness in one go rather than tease myself with it. I know the movie is gonna be good, so no reason to watch the trailer and spoil it.
Also doing ok at poker. Having a very up and down time at NL100 so far. Some days are +4 buyins, some are -4. I think I could be turning those -4 days into -2 or maybe even break even if I avoided some key spew spots. But over the last 36 hours I've gotten my game face on and kicked the shit outta the fear that was engulfing me.
See, the problem I've been facing is that I win a little and get scared of losing it. This is probably cause I had 2 horrible sessions where I was up 3-4 buyins and ended up down 2-3 buyins because I stayed too long trying to stack a fish. So I had a period of time where if I won 1-2 buyins I'd leave the tables, call it a session. I had one session where I sat into a mega heater, won 2 buyins and left, all in about 55 hands.
But this lead me to playing scared and playing wayyyy too short and too little. After having a winning session I couldn't get myself to go back to the tables. I was scared I'd go lose it and then feel like shit cause I had a losing day. Stupid I know, but it was there, this fear hovering around me at all times to the level where I couldn't even enjoy a win cause I was just scared to lose it.
I spent a bit of time talking to myself (literally, I find I do that a lot these days) and telling myself to stop being a pussy, to remember how fun it is, and to focus on how I play not the money I make. I got through to myself and my mindset has changed around and that lead me to playing a LOT more hands the last day and a half. The roller coaster is still going and I'm still sitting at about the same place I always have, between $2,800 and $3,000. I can't seem to break the 30 buyin plateau yet, but I will. I know I will, especially with the way I'm playing now and the new attitude that I'm approaching with.
Today has been weird, total cooler central. My 2 biggest losing hands of the day were major coolers, set over set and straight over straight. The painful thing about the str8 was that the previous hand I won a 250BB pot, and before I even have time to celebrate I get dealt 98s and hit a JTQ 2 suited board giving me a straight AND the flush draw. Of course I get it in on the flop vs a guy with AK and he holds. So I lose 100BB right away and am only up 50BB. lol, Lee giveth and then Lee taketh away.
But amongst all of this mediocrity and up and down I have some good news: 50K VPP on the year! Halfway to Supernova!
This makes me happy. I really wanna be supernova so the FPP come faster and I can buy the really big bonuses. Right now I've got a $100 bonus going from the echeck thing they're doing for old epassporte people. I was also saving FPP's to hit 50K and buy another platinum $650 bonus, but when I hit 25K I decided to buy the Goldstar $285 instead because by the time I reach 50K FPP the $650 won't mean as much to me as the $285 does right now, cause it will help get my BR moving. My goal is to always have some sorta bonus going so that I have that free money coming and there's some sorta rakeback going for me.
Anyway, I'll just post some SS's of all my NL100 hands since the last time I shared. It's not pretty but I am glad that I never dropped to 2k and had to redo NL50. And I am on a very very very slow upward movement. Hoping to improve that by decreasing spew and getting more value, which I feel like I'm doing lately.
Oh yeah, one complaint to make. The main power breaker to my townhouse is outside, right where a lot of the neighbors toddlers play. These kids keep getting in there and turning my power off. I don't think they realize it and are just going "Oh secret switch cool" cause they're like 4 or 5 yrs old. But it's very tilting to have ur net go out along with the music, lights, and everything else. Also gotta go reset all the clocks in my house now. I caught em in the act today and yelled at them. Hopefully they stay away. I would put a lock on it but the lock part is broken. I think I'll go duct tape it after I finish this blog.
Nearly forgot - I've got another short story I plan to post but have been lazy and haven't seen a good time to do it. So keep an eye out for that.
I came home from university today and i felt ultra tired so i tried to sleep afternoon
but 123123 people called for worthless shit >-<
i was ultra pissed cause i didnt manage to get any sleep
So being
tried and angry i opend the poker tables cause i thought maybe winning a bit money will relaxe me !
How can i be so stupid
I noticed that there is no fold button when ure on RLtilt !
I ve not played as bad as today for the last months ....
And i hate myself for having done that.
Now i am sitting there and i am even more angry .....
+ i lost 4 buy ins where all or them where 100% spew >-<
SAD SAD SAD
1st spew :
tight player 15/4/2 raises mp
i 3 bet him with AcQc from Button
flop
5h8cTc
he bets pot -> ( i think fuckaments i cant call now with draw ... but i am angry and i know he has overpair so maybe i have 1 overcard + FD outs vs his KK)
me -> Puuuuuuuuush
he calls showing AA and it hold
so why do i even 3 bet preflop a very tight player whos range is QQ KK AA here like 80% when i have AQs ?
flop i think it might have been okay to go with the hand in a 3 bet pot since i have 41% in average vs his range.
2nd spew this one really drives me mad since i 100% knew i was beat but nevertheless called >-<
vilian vs angel0ripper teh worst player on planet. hes 8/2/1 over like 3K hands
He has only 1 gear -> HIt or fold poker .... when he calls = he has a very good hand -> when he raises = he has Nutz all otehr he folds.
he raises MP i am in the sb with KK .
I 3 bet he calls
flop
QXX i bet 3/4 pot and he pushes
I am 100% sure he has AA,QQ or a pocket pair here ... yet i call and lose vs AA
3rd spew all guys leave one of the tables i play
new guy sits in ->
Yeha good idea to play a 1 tabling new player HU while i also paly 7 other tables
even better to shovebluff a riverd flush when villian is unknown ?
OFC he riverd the flush >-< and i had air.
4th spew
QQ vs preflop limp caller on 456 rainbow flop i raise he mirnaises ...
so with what hands do people limp call ?
Yes , right 90% a limp call means small pocket pair
so what is a minraise here on that board whe he is a tight player who limp called preflop ?
444 555 666 or in the absolute best case we can imagine 77
he had 66 for the set.
Since i`m learning HU lately with moderate to high success i can`t not think about the game. In my last post i uploaded pt stats of my tilt free period running with 20bb/100. Last night i lost 9bi to a guy. Now this is a situation me and Rhaegar have a fight about for a long time now. His position is the logical - if he puts it in with the worst of it and still win u should never quit if ur not tilting. Yeah luck doesn`t have memory and the math is math. I, as a logical person think that should be a fuckin fact. Yet, i couldn`t not notice that some guys, some days just do NOT lose no matter what. Yeah its against any logical thought but it is true. Here are some hands of my match :

I`m ofc angry but can`t find a logical reason to quit a guy putting it in that light. After him winning a ton of pots with less than 40% we come up to this hand :

Sure, 2-3 of the 9bi i lost was a result of my mistakes ( which i`m not sure are mistakes against this particular player ). Last hand he holds w/ QQ against my AK and i just sit out. Now when i think about it its kinda of a superstitious to quit a guy that bad because he runs good. But i`m goind to do that from now on. Just in case Anyways i`m still running @ 10bb/100 overall after winning 4bi from another guy after my tragical match.
What do u guys think about that dilemma? I also think about shortstackers HU. How short do u play if u even play them. I am currently not playing anyone below 50-60bb but in several CR vids playing shorties is said to be extremely profitable. I`d be happy to hear some thoughts about having stop loss (no matter how poor villain is playing) / playing shortstackers from anybody with HU experience.
I was hoping to start playing poker for real money today, i've been waiting for about 3 weeks for my bank to stop messing around and give me my bank cards and debit card, so i can start up a bank roll and get a cardrunners subscription. Anyway I goto collect them and find out they sent my Visa debit to the UK (I just moved from UK to Australia) so this means I cannot transfer to my stars account by debit.
But what are you whining about, just bank transfer? No, I cannot do this either, I registered for internet banking today and have to wait for some crappy security device before i can bank transfer anywhere other than accounts linked to mine. I have been waiting for so long now to actually begin playing for real money.
I guess ill play some more freerolls and play money.
Anyway, instead of raging I'll set some goals for when I do actually get round to playing:
- Watch the 5 part low/micro stakes beginner by Brystmar on cardrunners
- Play atleast 2000 hands a day, 2-4 tabling
- Review biggest hands in pokertracker and post most difficult to play hands on liquidpoker
- Only move up to higher stakes when I have atleast 20 BIs
Edit: Mistyped title on my first blog entry, great start
Why is it that girls I get attracted to who are not only cute/pretty or w/e, but also have great personalities and other little awesome things about them (such as richness, god I love rich girls) ALWAYS have a boyfriend? This is just so weird and my sample size of 5 girls throughout this school year makes me really angry, especially when their bf is some busto :[. Of course they never mention it or show any signs of having one when we're flirting at first, and I only realize it when I facebook stalk them. And I actually have SOME morals, which won't allow me to "steal" them either. Such a nice guy I am, but so unlucky :[ Story of my life imo..
And uhh, about poker, I'm only up 6k this month which is terrible over 34k hands at mostly 2/4 some 1/2. Hopefully I go on a heater this upcoming 2 days or something. My interesting hands lately for those that like my hand posts. A lot of them aren't THAT fantastic, I'll note the really interesting ones though with the extra text:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/430385 - Set over set in massive pot
Very interesting one. Galimbax is a HUGE fish running at like 70/50/3 or whatever. The other guy is your average 2p2 tagnit who has been very quiet while I've been running over the table playing 35/30 and actively playing against the fish (who runs like god obviously). I think I could've found a fold on the turn if I were playing my A game... he simply just doesn't have 87 or 65 in his range ever when he plays this aggressively. His range is literally 55, 66, or 43. Shoulda folded...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/430386 - Set over set (on river) in deep pot
I think my flop and turn line is OK, not great not bad, vs semi competent, aggro regs. No way I can get away from the hand on river, sick set up ;/, was vs the guy with A2s above, sigh
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/431261 - Bottom pair, 2nd worst kicker river call
Standard line vs fish if I ever have any decent showdown value. Turn is also a great card because fish like this play so backwards retarded that they'll fold their weak mid pairs but call with their draws, so the turn bet serves as a bet for value AND as a bluff. Their snap full pot bet when all draws miss on the river is such a tell and they obv won't balance it well enough ever to make this call bad at all. I pretty much felt 90% missed draw, 5% set, 5% two pair that were played oddly.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/431263 - KQo two street bluff induce
Here's an interesting one from a game theory point of view. On the flop he knows i'll barrel this with 100% of my range, and because I know he knows that, I expect him to float very often. Turn is decent, I c/c hoping to rep JJ or AT or JT or something. He bets river, and I figure call cuz the hands that beat me make up way too thin of his range, and my hand is underrepped enough as well.
What the fuck is with all the fucking ass hat bitch tape cunts who hit and run at starcraft. You play them one game, and they ask for a re, you say sure. Then they beat you in game 2, and they wont re you for game 3? Or you play like 5 games (win all 5) and they beat you the 6th and they wont give you a re? Fuck you cock sucking ass ramming piece of goatshit hit and run BW players. If you are reading this and you are one of them GO FUCKING DIE CUNT.
Title says it all dont it... Been doin decently well this month but today I played like 600 hands and ran like ass.
Lost like 4/5 flips and couple 60/40s and all that fun stuff. I can deal with all that no problem but then this beauty just capped off the sesh. Villian and I had really been going at it and I had already stacked him, I dont think he was to happy with me..

1st win at 50nlFR in a looooong timeby whamm!, April 28
just wanted to say that i feel great about finally winning through adjusting my game. still had a lot of bad beats here obv, coz i run like shit here. won just over 3bi and pretty happy about it. i dont wanna play a ton of 25nl anymore. i feel that if i move up again to 100nl, moving down to 25nl would be psychologically detrimental and harder to rebuild. i have to beat this lmit to get a better "cushion" limit when on a downswing. im pretty rolled for 100nl or slightly for 200nl but i guess i have to beat this limit before i can truly say i climbed this hurdle and move up with confidence. i hate myself for playing this way, but it's the only general strat that's gotten me a W in a long time. oh well tomorrow i plan on playing a ton of 50nl. my 285 bonus clears tomorrow putting me right back to 5kplus USD(lol) good luck guys.
Had a month long break to finish up school, and now its the day that I told myself I would start playing poker more seriously. No matter how much you prepare yourself, and remind yourself that it's going to be a bit of a struggle, you can never prepare for when tilt happens.
I played about 2 hours and I did well at the start but then spewed at the end. It's a bit frustrating but I should have known it was going to be tough after a month long break. I just got to keep playing hard and get back into the groove, so I can stay focused entirely.
I'm waiting for my leggopoker account to be approved so I can start watching microstake vids for some help, and I'll keep posting hands etc as I play more and more.
I'm tilting now so I'm not going to play as when I'm tilted (and realise it) I just can't stand playing. I'm not sure what I'll do with this spare time then... I would like to spend it doing something productive. Suggestions?
Started the day with the Sunday Warmup and I was doing nice. We were down to the last 4 tables and I had about 25BBs at 15k/30k blinds. I was like 20/36 at that point. Given that I run good at life too, a very unusual wind/electric storm happened here and I lost connection for several minutes... Missed a lot of rounds and eventually I could reconnect to get my last money in 300k at 25k/50k with T8s vs KQo preflop. Flop was AJT Turn gave me a sweat for a runner runner flush. River was a blank.
GG in 27th for $2725 .
At the Sunday Million, I busted out before the 1st break. Made an unsuccessfull bluff and thats about it. Felt like a waste of $530 =[
The last tourney of the day was the $750k gtd at FTP. I did good but went out in this hand ( http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/433747 )for a decent cash of $1400 for 54th place.
Overall, $3164 in net winnings in a day is good
I'm still down like $3K this month but whatever
