Ok last month I moved up to NL100. Ran super hot for 10k hands or something and was all excited. I started thinkin to myself that I finally made it and was finally beating this game for a serious hourly winrate. Then after 36k hands at NL100 I break even. In my frustration I cashed out $2k from my bankroll and decided to apply that to my credit cards ( i've paid down a lot in the past 6months and hope to be done with it by september) and went back to NL50. Been running bad there. I'm making money, and with rakeback and rewards points it still seems that I'm better off playing poker than getting a job. However, it's been driving me crazy why my winrate at NL50 has been so low after over 150k hands at this level on Absolute.
Bad beat jackpot rake is fckin raping me. I looked at it the other night and calculated how much it would have upped my BB/100 if I wasnt paying that. How's 4BB/100 grab ya? Ya. Thats $14/hour for me. Which means that I'd be running at 9bb/100 over a nice size sample at 6max while 9 tabling which confirms that I'm not a donk, but actually decent. I'd imagine that I would have tilted a lot less in some sessions where I was break even over long stretches because of the bbj rake. So maybe my true winrate is even higher. Needless to say, I need to get out of Absolute.
The bbj rake is .50 of every pot where the normal rake is .25 or greater. So if I'm in the SB and it folds to me, I raise to $2.50 and BB calls the pot would be $5.00 - .25 - .50 = $4.25. This is huge. This is 15% rake on all those little pots where I'm picking it up with a cbet. I've always wondered why it seems that I'm not really making any money unless I win big pots. I should be able to make money just by raising preflop and cbetting alone.
Absolute doesnt have a whole lot of traffic so its pretty tough to table select when your playing 9 tables and there only 10 tables at that level open at times. All the NL50 tables are BBJ tables. At NL25 there is no BBJ and the tables are turbo so more hands per hour. I'm going to play NL25 for now until my rakeback comes in and I'm cashing out and moving to Stars. I really think I can handle playing more tables so I think I want to try 12 tabling.
For that matter, I've seriously been considering switching to nitring on stars and like 24 tabling. I know that I can do it. I just want to make the most money per hour that I can.
Two days ago I decided since the WPT championships held at the
Bellagio in Las Vegas had just ended that it was time to head back
home. However, at the time I decided to begin to pack I spoke
with Rekrul (Dan Schreiber) and he offered me to take him up
on his invite to visit him in korea for a month. I've been
dodging this invite for quite some time now simply because I was
just never comfortable (or rich enough) enough to say screw it, book
the ticket and go.
We arrived at Inchon Airport in South Korea at 6am, and
headed for Rekrul's Apartment. We walked in and I was impressed
with how spacey the place is despite hearing rumors about how small
apartments are here. I sat around, played some poker then we eat
some until eventually night time hit. I showered, got dressed, then
napped for like two hours until around 930 PM. Dan, Smuft and myself all walked out together for roughly two blocks till we grabbed a cab then arrived at the night club.
I have to admit that as I walked down the stairs of the
entrance into the club that I was nervous. Being a competitive poker player for so long, my socializing habits have gone down the drain as i've increased my focus into just poker and nothing else. All three of us got escorted to the back of the club and shown through the doors of the private room. We sat down, and a waiter brought us plenty of beers, whiskey and fruit to have. Basically, in Korea they have these 'booking clubs' in order to help with matchmaking between the opposite sex, which I find hilariously convienient. What's cool about it is the girl usually will just get up and leave you if she isn't comfortable in the area, so you know you aren't being a sleaze ball or anything if she decides to stay with you.
The night was long and fun, and we all shared good times for my first night in Korea. I'm sitting here as I type reviewing as much Korean as I can so eventually before half of this trip is over I will be able to hold a decent conversation with anyone here in Korean.
I've been taking up cash games as well while i'm here to pass time. It certainly also helps to have players in this apartment whose ability to play and analyze the game supercede that of my own by a longshot as well. Rekrul and Smuft have so much incite to the game and life in general, so I'm rdy to take this trip by storm. Good luck, and stay focused!
Now here`s the pt stats i said i`ll post. Its from the last 7-8 days; i`m not playing many hands per day but i do concentrate fully on the several hundred i play. I know how tight these stats for HU are and i usually play a lot looser. Just had the luck to pick up such terrible uberlooseagro opponents that i didn`t really need to do much most of the time. I am not running godlike, i actually run the same way i ran when i thought i`m runnin like shit Still loosing to 20%- hands here and there and stuff. Yet 100nl HU seems so ez that u can actually destroy it playing low variance, almost risk-free game.
A big boost in the quality of my game comes from listinening to a new bulgarian online radio. J/k ofc I actually plan on withdrawing my 7-8bi rakeback soon ( 800$ = 1040 bulgarian leva = 2.5x average salary here ) so i can feel calm about my expenses and play my best. Because of my long term discipline problems i`m in doubt if i should move up when i reach 25-30bi, or when i play say 20-30k hands tilt-free. I`m for sure waiting for some better weather to move up cus this dark-ass rainy shit i see through my windows seems to affect my mood. I started going to bed late again too, and this does no good so i`ll try to be fallen asleep before 2am from now on.
On the other hand my university excams are coming soon. I guess i`ll have a few days off poker but nothing more. I seem to be naturally-gifted law learner Btw since i`ve seen pics of most of u lpers in other topics and mine is nowhere i decided to post several of myself. I mean i`m not the most active poster but i am browsing lp for more than a year now and gotta say i`ve learned a lot here. I remember the first good advice i got, Baal told me how poorly i`ve played a 10nl hand w/ KK and was nice enough to PM me back the right way to play it. My point is i`m trying to introduce myself to the lp community now . Anyways, this is my favourite pic of me altho noone else seems to like it lol :
WOW! WTDSFASDF So I just was about to finishing typing it up, and I accidently
click on some random ad and my whole writeup is gone, so I'm going to type it all
again...
So, I leave school early on Tuesday April 22nd, and I leave for the Airport at 2:00.
Get there, get my luggage checked in, and get my ticket.
Apparently the rule is be at an airport 3 hours in advance, so I do, and I wait for
3 hours doing absolutely nothing. After I go through security, I forget my cell
phone in one of those security boxes which I don't find out about until I board the
plane. Bad Beat #1.
I land on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:00 am local time, and the very first thing I
notice is that EVERY 16-25 YR OLD FRENCH CHICK HAS A NICE ASS, except for fat
ones of course. I guess because in Paris, or even in Europe, compared to America at
least, everyone walks everywhere. So all of the exercise has to benefit them in
some way eh?
I get to my sisters apartment in France, after a 90 minute bus ride.
I get situated, in her apartment that she shares with 3 other fine chicks who are
all 3-4 years older than me, and I'm tired as hell, so fuck trying to get with them.
So I fall asleep on her bed. My sister leaves for class for a few hours, while I
take a shower, go to a local cafe and get a sandwich. Apparently all sandwiches
look the same as this there, and notice I already took a bite. Ham and Cheese with
some lettuce and boiled egg in a French bread roll thingy. It's kinda tasty. http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/0bd33497df3b7e092f8c471d38282308.jpg
Finally, we head to the Monte Carlo Casino. Only 1 week late of the EPT and 1 week early of the Grand Prix. But, we did get to see the Super Car Show or w/e it's called.
Here's some pictures from the Monte Carlo, and then the car show. All of these cars put a Honda or Toyota to shame. Even a Lamborghini isn't that impressive here.
Now my favorite part of the story. After doing all of this, we head back to Nice to our hostel. Yay for saving money, only 10€ a night. Right down the street is the Ruhl Casino. It has poker, so I walk in with my sister and we head out to the Poker section. There were 2 tables playing, one 5€/5€ game and one 5€/10€ game. This is a shit load of money, minimum buyin of 250€ for the 5/5 game. So I just wanted to watch and see if I could read the players at all.
After watching for a while, I got anxious and got 300€ in chips, and sat down. This is how it went.
I am sitting to the left of the dealer, position 1. to my left is an old man wearing a blue sweater/vest wearing glasses and he is throwing his money away. I think he threw around about 2,000 EUR during the 1 hour I was playing. Fucking donk, would call with anything and everything preflop. I saw him go all-in with A9 on a 447 flop losing to 77 and getting pissed and bought more.
Next to him is a younger Frenchman who is about 25-30 years old, he was up about 50€ or so the entire time I was playing. He played really conservitevly. To his left, was I guess his friend who was doing about the same.
In seat 6 was an Asian who spoke french (I'm assuming Viet) who was a very cocky player who had about 1400-1600 EUR in chips in front of him. He is really loose, and I've seen him play hands like K3 UTG and 73o from MP, and getting lucky by flopping 2 pair etc...
Then there was another man sitting next to him who I'm supposing didn't care about money and was just waiting for a seat for the 5/10€ games. He was about 27 - 28 years old, and threw money around because he didn't care about it.
Finally, to the right of the dealer in seat #10 was a french soccer fan, probbaly around the age of 29 or so. He was doing pretty well, up about 1200 EUR in a few hours.
So I sit down, and the very first hand goes like this
I'm in the BB, with 300€ and I look at 69o. I put in the BB for 5€ and check it behind.
Flop comes 10 9 6 rainbow. Cool! 2 pair, first hand. Small Blind checks, I bet 25€ in a 40€ pot. 2 callers.
Turn is a Q, so board reads 10 9 6 Q. I this time bet 60€ and get called down again.
By now, I'm thinking what could he have that he's calling with which he limped in with PF. 78? J8? 66? Fuck. My first hand ever in casino, and I'm going to lose 100€. God damnit.
River gives a 2, no flush draw, lots of straight draws, so I check, and he checks behind. I show 2 pair, and he shows A9o with a pair of nines.
I WON MY FIRST HAND IN A LIVE CASINO!! for about 110€
So I now have a stack size of about 400€ and is about 158 USD. I'm happy. Shit, that's a lot of money!
I fold the next maybe 10 or so hands, which all look like 35o, 6Qo, K2s, etc... I figured, full ring, I don't know how to play this, so set mine, and any 2 cards above 10, and pp's.
So now I'm on the button, a raise to 20€, and then a re-raise to 75€. I look at KJo, and I folded (good right?)
Now, I'm in UTG+1 (left of UTG player) and I look at AKs UTG calls, so I raise to 20€. 3 callers, flop comes 2 4 J. I c-bet for 60€. 1 caller.
Turn A. TPTK! YES!!!
I bet 100€ and he folds. Oh well. Life's a bitch.
Now my stack is ~450€ from my starting stack of 300€. I like live play!
I start to be card dead for the next 30-45 minutes and the loose aggressive donkey who spews hundreds of euros for the hell of it, keeps saying. "OH! AMERICAN FOLDS AGAIN!" yeah yeah, w/e. I fold bad hands, but you keep them and lose em. way to go.
Finally, I'm looking at Q10 and I limp from UTG. Everyone else follows suit I guess because I have been folding a shit ton, and I finally play a hand, it must be good.
flop comes Q5J. SB and BB both check to me, so I bet out for 45€. 2 callers.
Turn K, I bet 75€, 1 caller. River is a 9. STRAIGHT. I bet 150€, he folds.
It's only been an hour sitting down, and I'm up 372€ in total to be holding 672€ in my stack. FUCKING SWEET. So I wait 10 more hands before I leave at 3:00 am and head back to the hostel and get some sleep. Here's my money that I collected.
I realized, that I played for about an hour, and Made 372€, it's about 372€ an hour. THATS LIKE $600/HR. HOLY FUCK! I'M GONNA BE PRO BITCHESSSS.
Anyway, I get back to USA, transfer my money to USD again, and It's about $1000 in cash. I get home, sleep and then wrote this up. I hope you all enjoyed this.
Oh, and yeah, it was great.
SUGOGOSU IS LETTING YOU ALL KNOW THAT I LOVE FRANCE NOW.
Just noticed, none of the pics had me in it. Here you go. Now, Good luck at the tables, and let's have a good time!
Somewhere along the way, and I don't know when, I lost my mind bit by bit. I mean sure stars has worse players than FTP by a LOT, but that means having to handle more beats and requiring greater mental fortitude.
I pretty much lost my mind this weekend...and the green line shows that my post flop play is really horrible. I think I'm too used to playing against standard FTP players and the strat I use there just won't fly at stars. I'm very close to busting my roll at stars...
Ship WSOP Main Event Package! Ez Game?by JonnyCosMo, April 27
Been grinding online once again, trying to log in enough hands this month so I can keep my supernova status going on PokerStars. It's really weird to be grinding online again after playing in some of the softest games ever in Vegas. Been doing fairly well for the most part. Today I decided to be a semi-tournament donk and entered the Sunday Million ($530) and my first WSOP Main Event package satellite. The Sunday Million went as usual, I got about 2 hours deep in it then got a bad beat to lose half my stack and proceeded to think it was a good idea to just punt off my last 15bb's instead of waiting for a hand like I am suppose to. Whatever. My main event satellite went a little bit better...
Ship it? Sucked out early to stay alive (K9 vs AQ), and from there all my hands held. For the last hour and a half of the tournament I had yellowsub86 with the chip lead to my direct left. It was gross, since once he got a hold of a big enough chip lead he started to open shove every hand for shits and giggles. The bubble lasted a solid 30+ minutes, and finally ended when it was folded around to the small blind who was the shortest stack at the table as he shoved right into my QQ. Sickest hold ever ftw~! Cool thing about this entire thing is that peachy is still going to be staking me for the main event (he's staking me for the entire WSOP series) so I get to pocket the cash. Sweet bankroll booster.
Other than that, things have been chill in my life. I surfed around today and found that I am still in the top 100 Player of the Year on Cardplayer.com, ranked 54th for Bluff Magazine's Player of the Year, and I'm 39th in Bluff Magazine's "Hot" Players. Reminds me of the my starcraft days when I use to care about my ladder rankings on WGTour. Hopefully WSOP will boost me up these "ladders". One last thing before I go...
Shakira is stupid hot. The way she can move herself is totally super sexy.
Basically recently in life I've been looking back on how I live and came to a conclusion I have to make some serious changes.
The fact is I drink too much,I smoke too much and I generally live a pretty unhealthy life, this came along with the pros of having money due to poker...Before I barely could go out and spend like 200KN,now when I go out I spend five times that amount which ofcourse means I drink way more then before, not to mention eating junk food.
I have gained a lot of weight,I'm a bulky guy and I'm pretty tall so people don't realize how much KG's I actually got,but I started to feel genuine concern for myself.
So I made some resolves of which first is to stop drinking beer because I heard it affects gaining weight quite a lot and well I spend a lot of money on it,so saving money plus losing weight...Obviously a winner combination.
I would also like to ask you if you maybe remember the thread in General where MezmerizePLZ wrote how he had a prop bet about losing weight vs Peachy, please link to me it,it contains some content I'd like to read up,but unfortunately I was unable to find it myself.
Concerning the weight I'm like 190cm and I have 93-95kg's it varies about there.I'm looking to make it down to 83-85kg's basically gonna try to lose 10 KG's within two months...Can someone tell me is this even possible?
Oh well I hope this read wasn't too much of a drag,gl at the tables people.
Oh and if someone has some kick-ass diet they used themselves and it actually worked,PM it.
few questions:
1) how u people make this pt screens? ur looks so good and i have to work on it on paint to be able to paste it? any advises to beginning blogger??
2) anybody know how to deal with ipoker hh? this one in the lobby sucks, the one in file is somehow crypted or what, and the one in pt is fuc... up and when i upload it it shows my opp as me. sucks.

decent month, played 82k hands so far. didnt get my 100k hand goal in but this month i went to turning stone durin my spring break and had midterm week in the beginning of april. its all good i like.
live poker blows and i tried too hard bluffin stations lewl there. i wuz isolating old ppl and nits and they still call, luckily cbets work wonders but rake kills. i played mostly 1/2 with 100min/max with 4$ max rake, $1 bb jackpot rake, and tips. geeeeez are those games even beatable?
the 5/10 there looks like all young college kids so im not even sure how soft the game is. i played 1/2 cuz its like first time live experience and the tables look mad juicy where ppl call 7 ppl call 15$ open raises in a 50bb deep game for a sick family pot. lewl. ppl were randomly puttin straddles while noone else is doin the same. but i spewed a ton since live play is gay and slow. still up like $80ish from those games. and i ran a big bluff on a station who instacalled 4th pair like 94 on QJ9Tx on the turn to a 2 barrel after limp callin and i waz afriad to fire last barrel on river.
it was really fun but rake killed it. and im a huge nit since i talk about the rake in a 100$ buyin game obv.
and all the drink servers have gigantic fake boobs and are old. lol. i got a tower at first but the view blows. i had to switch to hotel for wifi.
--------
on my poker progress, im still superstitious as fuck. before moving up stakes i usually wanna run a bit worst so luck can balance out on 5/10, but seems like i kept running decent on 2/4 and 3/6. 3/6 blows, on stars its all regs and on full tilt it never runs. full ring is gay
after looking at fayth's blog i think im gonna try for heads up again. i fuckin played 82k hands and my earnings is 100000x smaller than his. wtf
today i actually played some donkaments, i think there's an important point that i wanna highlight from ket's article. sometimes u just gotta play like diff games to keep ur mind fresh and stuff. and then u can induce a zone warrior mood. i played like 6k hands cash and some donkaments and time went by sooooooooooooooo fast didnt even realize it. i think i actually been pretty motivated after my turning stone trip and i guess even a small vacation can help a ton.
heads up, the guy sucked so bad. he was super easy. i dozed my way to 1st, and dominated the whole tourny basically.

So actually this was supposed to be post in kimseongchan's blog since it was about the same thing pretty much, but in the end when i saw what i wrote, was gonna be pretty weird to post it in his comments so i decided to open a new blog entry instead.
Damn i too 've been thinking about how to motivate myself.I always come up with actually great ideas but i never accomplish them....I've always wanted to get in good shape-> force myself for example to run line 1-2km every morning...but i cant even get off bed in the morning ><.My life s been preeeetty lazy & relaxing & UNHEALTHY lately .. im drinking like 2-3 cofees @ day not having healthy sleep ... i usually sleep liek 12hrs straight and i still feel like shit when i wake up.Weird thing is people living like this normally gain weight and i dont... i actually need to gain like 10kgs so that i wont look like skinny shit.
Practically everything is absolute MESS atm not to mention how i am -111$ over 18.5k hands this month which is about 5.55bi.I recently got through a insane TILTRUN at a point i was playing 600PLO with half my bankroll.Nevermind that tho im through it and im grinding all the way back up.At least i got my confidence when i sit at the tables otherwise everything else pretty much sux, but hey i still do appriciate the fact i got my confidence.
p.s. and yeah whoever said that u shouldnt miss a single opportunity in life .. he was totally right
Today I took a shot at NL25, I decided if I lost >$100 and found myself spewing I'd stop and take another $100 shot tomorrow.

Pretty fun night (N)
In other news I had a good week, was gf's birthday and her dad flew in, I met him for the 2nd time and went well with him. Did some mad shopping and ate out at some awesome restaurants/got very drunk almost each night!
