There's a local band called the "Flobots" that we've worked with at my job for the past 5 years or so and recently they've hit national scene. They're a bunch of great people and their music is awesome. I just saw that they did Leno and got a great response, which makes me really happy to see. I really hope they keep doing well cause they all have great hearts and they've been very gracious and giving in all that they do.
Here's the Leno spot which is worth watching cause they are awesome live. They give a great performance and sound just as good on stage as in the studio. (Fuck, youtube won't let me even link to the leno spot, here's the only thing I could embed)
They're shooting a new music video tomorrow here in Denver and they've invited everyone at my work to come down and be in it. Should be fun!
Something I haven't seen in few months, multiway allin pf!

This hand is even funnier, opener is a good reg and caller is a 17/12 nit or sth, so I squeeze, being called by the nit.
I put him on mPP now or high SC, so I take a stab at it, he calls. A on turn is perfect card for me so I just shove my shit in and he mambo jumbo instant call. no suckout now! + Show Spoiler +

This hand I butchered hard, Villian is a 15/12 nit, so he's SB calling range is obv. After he bet pot on turn, I raise and he reraise my instant reaction was set of freaking 4's, but obv it's me so I tanked the shit out and started to put him on hands that I beat (that was hard, took me like 30 seconds and after doing it I shoved). This is even worse, because he TANKED (yes, against monkey like me) and almost folded saying "hehhhh, SET OVER SET!!!;//////" + Show Spoiler +

This one is actually an interesting one. Villian is a good reg, we 3bet each other a lot (he 3betted like 3 my UTG opens at this table in a row and i folded everytime). Most of our hands go like this - raise, 3bet, fold or raise,3bet,call;check,bet,fold etc. It's first time I 4bet him. But he call it (so im 90% sure he don't have AK).
Board comes really low 5s2d4h and i Bet out 65 into ~100 i think and he calls, turn is an 8 and i shove 95$ into 240$ pot.
I think that I really screwed it up here. Much better option would be c/shove flop trying to represent AK/AQ or sth. And maybe get call from worse PP or what would be cool just a fold. + Show Spoiler +

So I turn ... today (well, I'll be able to tell you my age next year )
The weather doesn't suit this beautiful (for me) day at all, cause it's raining as hell. But I guess it'll get better and I'm going out tonight with my friends to celebrate ! :D All rounds on me obviously
Poker has been going great so far - I'm up ~$4k (including $900 bonus) in July but I'm withdrawing entire winnings whenever I'm up $1k because I'm saving money for a new PC, new desk, trip with my friends and I'm also visiting my sister in the USA in August That's pretty nice I guess.
I don't feel like posting a graph'n'stats now, maybe when the rain won't stop falling I will post something.
this has been a milestone i've been wanting to hit for a long time now ever since kimseongchan's blog post when he made his first 1k day... i dont usually play more than 3k hands a day max, its only 5 buyins so nothing too special but im still happy < ^ _ ^ >
Return to poker, and why Creationists are retardsby PokerDoc88, July 05
Ok so for the past 4 months or so, I haven't touched the game. I decided I'd focus more on uni and take a break from poker. Exams finished 3 weeks ago, results came out (I did the same as I've done previous semesters =/ ) and since then I've returned to playing.
Deciding that FTP really is RIGGD, I decided to put $500 on stars and grind up from 25nl to ease my way back in.
I've noticed the games on stars are fairly soft, there are quite a few fish but then there are also quite a few multi-tabling nitty regs. Not only that, but most of the fish don't really get involved in big pots without the nuts. So, while its easy to make money, it takes a lot of diligent grinding and disciplined play to do so.
Here's the graph of my run at 25nl: (Note the first 6k hands I donked around really bad, playing like 28/26 and trying to run stations over...obv failed haha).
So I'll continue grinding, moving up to 50nl next session I play. Holidays only last for 1 more week, but I don't return to uni: I'm doing research in a lab at a hospital for a year. Hopefully it's not too full-on, and I won't have any commitment to it at home, so I can continue playing poker for the coming year.
In non-poker related stuff, I have a long to-do list of games to complete:
On XBox360 I have to finish Lost Odyssey, GTA4, DMD mode on DMC4, Ninja Gaiden 2 (this is fucking hard) and Gears of War.
Also, I'm going to go out and buy a parts for a new computer in a few days. While not finalized, the setup seems to be:
Core2Duo 8500
ATI Radeon 4850/4870 (undecided on which card to get yet)
4gig DDR2 ram
Appropriate case and PSU
22" LCD
My friend made a detailed list of the exact parts and costs, it should be$1.2 - $1.4k Australian dollars. And ready to kick ass in SC2 at max settings (hopefully) when it finally comes out.
Finally, some funny youtube videos which bag creationists (if you are a creationist, lol @ you)
There's over 20 videos in this series, but these 3 are amongst the funniest. I suggest you listen while you grind, it's good entertainment and tilt relief (unless of course you're a creationist, but in that case you probably think poker is all about luck and suck).
10NL, what a beast. My skill level is so low that 10NL seems like this horrible mountain I can't climb.
I approached poker like I would any game, trying to give myself an advantage at the start through this website and other resources. Unfortunately, it hasn't been working out. Am I destined to be a bad poker player? Maybe, but I haven't reached breaking point yet. I WILL SUCCEED DAMNIT, DID I GIVE UP WHEN I LOST 6 CAL-0 MATCHES IN A ROW?! DID I GIVE UP WHEN MY ARENA TEAM HIT ROCK BOTTOM IN WoW?! DID I SURRENDER WHEN I RAN OUT OF VESPENE GAS?! NO. I DID NOT.
I persevered and dominated. WTF is 10NL?! WTF IS IT. LOW LIMIT SCUM BAGS, I WILL DOMINATE YOU. Give me time and I will damnit, I will. I will reach 100NL before this year is over, even though school will own me. Bring it on poker, bring it FUCKING ON!
Average of luck- a concept on the universe scale?by SfydjkLm, July 04
I've been running bad today. Really really bad. Losing pocket Aces to pocket 8s, AK double pairs to river flushes, lotsa other crap. After a while the luck seemed to change and i started crawling back up. But my biggest win? An accident. I had pocket 4s on one of the tables when the screen suddenly popped up the pokerstars way and i accidentally clicked on the raise button. Reraising 14c bet(im playing on the pennies) is not something i had in mind. In fact quiet the opposite I was planning to fold- deriving from my experience i dont trust low pocket pairs at all. Interestingly enough all but 2 players call my reraise, the flop- a 45A. To hell with it i think, going all in, 2 players call. Waddya know, 6.60 pot of penny table aint too bad.
Not good poker. I know.
I (re)started playing poker 5 days ago, so far im up about 14 bucks, but even if i was losing i would still be a happy man- my game has improved at least in a way that now i am capable to play on 8 tables simultaneously. Not too bad for someone who used to struggle with 4. I also got used to pokertracker HUD interface, was a pain for me, was losing cos it was distracting me at first(as such to the contrary of what i read here on forums I would advise beginners to take advantage of the free trial right away- it might be a pain to get used to later! But maybe its just my OCD! And besides one can get acquainted with looking at the numbers when the play is slow).
My real poker start was during the Starcraft Poker craze, however i never was too successful, lacked attention, wasnt grounded, impatient, tilted a lot. I guess being a few month short of 22 and having a job changes people!)
My main problem right now however is... Winning big. The loses dont affect me, nomatter how much I lose, but the victories, the big ones, cause a chain of losses. I get overconfident, and overjoyed, focused on the cash i won rather then the hand... at hand. I guess it comes from background in sports, where a loss you have to take silent, with dignity, but when you win you can let go of your feelings, and even... gasp... cry!
And one more thing: I'd like to thank GroT for his magnificent article! I don't exactly follow it to the letter, but whenever i hit a rough patch, i reread it and it helps me stay on target. S2
So I started playing quite a few donkaments yesterday. Mostly the guaranteed ones throughout the day such as the 11/5/3 dollar rebuys, $27/11 freezeouts and the nightly 50k. Maybe some others but I can't really remember. Now I'm pretty terrible at tournaments so I need to start learning them and start playing the sundays with my fpps since they're so good in value. I'm gonna keep playing them and hopefully win one of these someday. Also if any of you good tournament players can lend me your luckbox that is much appreciated.
drama here + a muster call + my dad having a semi stroke/heart attack = me moving back to Texas within two weeks and getting my own place
fuck
that'll be 7 times of me moving and resetting up within two years now
w.t.f. !
it may seem like it, but I really don't like doing all this moving shit
I'm staying put this time for a good while gdit I swear.
a year contract at least that I will NOT pay my way out of no matter how good it is
bye bye earnings
gogogo
Well practically nobody knows me on LP, so I feel the need to reintroduce myself every blog. Those who know me on TL, yeah, it's me.
My name is Mike (DUH) and I'm 17. 18 in 9 days. I have about seven PMs asking why I care how old I am before I start poker, and pretty much my entire extended family has a bad track history in gambling and obv my mom doesn't understand why poker > roulette. In fact, she believes roulette to be more profitable.
Anyway.
So I'm starting on Stars or FTP with $500 so I can play NL25. I have been "studying" poker for about 3 years (lurking, books, etc.), but a little more intensely in the last couple months (actually registering at LP and checking it daily, Harrington on Hold'em). I avoid giving advice on low stakes as I am not a current player. However, I treat every hand posted there as a 'quiz' to see if I would, in the same situation, make the correct play. I seem to be doing quite well, my worry is that I'm not exactly sure how to play super-solid. I've been watching some the low stakes videos that I have access to. I used a friend's account for a bit to play NL10, and I was a winning player there (8bb/100), albeit on a relatively small hand sample (10k hands).
I plan on starting in two weeks, playing 30 hours a week. My goal is to hit NL100 by September (birthday Jul 13).
So my questions are:
1. My mom doesn't want me doing this, but my dad understands and is actually buying 20% of me for 100k hands. However, this means I cannot play at home, so I need to go to my friend's place on weekdays to play.
2. My mom has badgered me about getting a "real job" (I sell knives atm, making as much as a full time job thank you) for 2 months now. What do I tell her? She checks my bank account and reads my mail, so I cannot lie about having another job. It is also absolutely out of the question to tell her the truth. I really hate saying that I can't trust my own mother.
3. 6max or FR? I know this is a personal preference, but my goal for the first few weeks is not to generate a greater bankroll, it is to gain valuable experience and knowledge in poker.
4. PT2 + PAHUD? PT3? Gametime? Is any of this necessary? My friend wants to split with me on PT3 but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. (I'm what you might call a life nit)
5. Should I screw around with SnGs? What bankroll do I need to play the 180 man 4.40s? Rule of thumb?
6. Finally, I have to admit that I am prone to tilt. Considering my family history, it might as well be in my genes. Is anyone willing to PM me their MSN or something so I don't lose it all? As a precautionary measure, I have offered my stakers an insurance of sorts, refunding everything if I lose money on massive tilt. (Playing outside my br, etc.) Free copy of my newest CD (we sing a cappella, but hey, free stuff) to the first five (if any) NL10+ players who can PM me their MSN.
Anybody who read everything, THANK YOU SO MUCH, I really appreciate it.
