July Poker Discovery by DrawingThin, July 14

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/11d445315c68b554286ecb30869eeca8.jpg

I dont even know why I still do these 16 FR table grind sessions. They're just not fun, I'm not learning anything autopiloting and I'm not making any money anymore.

This month has been a real eye opener. I'm doing 4 tables of 6max from now on and loving it. I'll probably put in another 10k hands @ NL25 6max which will hopefully get my PS bankroll to 1.5k and I'll move up to NL50 6max.

Also, I've been thinking about getting a subscription to either CR or Leggo but its kinda a big hit to my BR. I have about 1.4k on PS and 1.8k on FTP but I think I need to withdraw the FTP money for personal expenses.

Is it a good time to get a subsription or should I wait til I'm consistently playing NL50 or NL100.

Cheers
Mike

Hello NL25 by lazymej, July 14

So today I took my first legitimate shot at NL25 after watching Wall-E which was quite deep btw. Long ass movie though it seemed, I had to piss bad towards the end of it. Anyway, NL25 so far seems a lot easier than NL10 lol. In a few ways at least. Anyway, I ended up making just shy of 2BI in about 1k hands. I also took down some monster pots, the biggest I've ever won :D
i.e.
Big: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/484789
Biggest: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/484805
See - at NL10 it's so hard to get people to stack off with a pair of Qs with K kicker. They're all a bunch of fucking nits.

I also had 2 sessions of NL10 before the NL25, the first one was really shitty where I was negative for most of it and then went up a bit at the end. Second one was decent and made a few BI. Anyway, onto the proof now

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/lazymeJ/stats14july2.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/lazymeJ/14julygraph.png

P.S. I think I should work on opening more hands preflop, because 17/15 and 15/13 is sooo fucking nit at 6max. I find it weird because I'm raising all kinds of rubbish on the button and CO. Okay well not complete garbage but still hands that most people would be throwing into the muck. I find I get lots of trash hands so I don't see how I can be opening with more.

EDIT - Oh, btw I almost forgot! I am bronze star no longer! Behold:

Finally 18- PS questions by mikeymoo, July 14

Turned 18 yesterday =D
So I think I have an account I made on PokerStars with fake info when I was 13 or so. When I tried to register for an account, PS gave me an error telling me that I already have an account there.
I emailed support, and they want a copy of the log files.

So my questions:
Which log file do I send them?
Or, conversely, is there a way for me to just delete w/e registry I need to so I can just register?

Thanks guys.

Long due update by Cro)Deadman, July 14

So as some of you may had noticed few days ago I FT'd two donkaments for total amount of 6.2k,what most of you dont know is I got ITM in the Million yesterday busted by the guy who became the CL after he busted me,I don't regret it tho,and I'm totally satisified with my MTT game especially taking into consideration my small expirience in them.

With the money I've won trough the donkaments I decided not to move up to NL200 because I think I'm not ready yet,I wannt to first become a solid winner on NL100 over a large sample before taking NL200 shots,I got time no need to rush into anything...I also cashed out like 3.4k so I can pay for my licensce exams (it sums up to 1.8k) mad expensive shit, for that money you can actually buy a used semidecent car here in croatia heh...And I also got some 1-on-1 coaching which had the first session today,I'm very pleased with my coach and employing some concepts in some spots he told me about I just got up 4bi in like 1.2k hands or smth,I'll leave this person anonymous because I believe he would not like for me to publicly advertise him.

Also had a hillarious convo with Radiohead (for those who don't know, hes the person who has been my lets call it a mentor ever since I started poker) and I'm definately a huge fan of the guy.

Heres the funny part of the MSN convo.

Deadman - Dan says:
you're such a character
Deadman - Dan says:
someone like you
Deadman - Dan says:
someone like you is born once in a century
Radiohead says:
roflmao¨
Radiohead says:
people like you are around every corner
Radiohead says:
begging for money

And heres a song that describes his thoughts when I tell him I think I'm becoming a solid poker player.

Love you all folks,I wish you all lots of monies and luck in life!

Oh and big thanks to ggplz for being a great friend aswell! <3 Dave

Poker, girls, poker video upcoming! by royalsu, July 14

So I haven't blogged in a long while because I haven't played much poker since my downswing: -17k$ at 400nl, not sure how many hands. I'm pretty sure I'm playing terrible and just getting owned in a whole bunch of spots. I took a lot of time off and just spent it chilling with girls, going to wild water kingdom (i have some wild pictures and even a video of her dancing on a random pole but alas...I don't think posting her pics on an internet forum is right). If you ever come to toronto then maybe you'll get some sneak peaks.

I also went clubbing a lot at circa, probably 5 times in the last month. Met this wild group of girls who are up for anything. For example, one of my friends made out with two cousins in a span of 5minutes (they both have bfs lol). The 2nd one was the one he was chopping and she got mad at him...so mad that she slept with him the next day and many times after that. A lot of other random explicit events happened on the dance floor, but like muhweli, I'd rather leave the details to your imagination.

So after my downswing, bankroll was at 15k and I decided to join leggopoker. I watched all of aejones' vids and I now look at poker a different way. He's always thinking about hand ranges, and why people bet based on showdown value. I then had a nice 6k upswing the last few days. Fast forward to today: things were going well, was up a little bit, got sucked out on, tilted, sucked out more, more tilt = -5k day. I won't bother listen the hands because it's really not interesting nor important. Ah well, time to punish myself by dropping back to 200nl and grind. Sigh, at least one positive is that I now have about 200k hands at 400nl of experience.

I'm taking another small break from poker, going to rethink my game as well as make a video series on how to play a nitty 17/14 tag game. I'm basically going to teach ppl how to not spew and just play solid winning poker. There are some games filled with regs where you just have to play this style. In order to play laggier you have to be a good hand reader, otherwise you will find yourself in too many tough or marginal spots.

It's going to be a 4 part series:
1) position, preflop ranges in every situation, squeezing, stacking off ranges.
2) postflop basics: various equities, flop cbet textures, double/triple barreling. How to extract money from fish and regs.
3) making moves in 3b pots, squeezed pots, river bluffs.
4) reads, note taking, and timing tells

The vids will be released to selected lpers for trial and we'll see where it goes from there. I'm still confident in my game; I've logged a ton of hands (I average like 5-8k hands a day), made and spent a lot of money foolishly. It's now time for me to own up and get serious about this since it's my only source of income as of now.

I'm going to try to get these vids released before I go to hawaii in 8 days. Aloha! That's right, life is still good! I've got a date tomorrow with 2 girls, and this other one wants me to sleep over tonight, so a -5k day ain't nothing to a baller.

gg

How to interpret this? by nlloser60, July 14

1. Is this graph helpful in any way?
2. Is it possible to see stats for one session (vpip, pfr, af, etc.)? I can see only stats for all hands that I've played on particular limit . Dunno how to filter it for one session. Any help?

Day 13 - Stars Promos Dictate Poker by Oxy, July 14

Stars has hit again with another sick promotion. They're doubling every millionth hand pot, with huge amount of VPP bonuses and such. Tournaments haven't been going great, and it's frustrating not to be able to do whatever you want when you want, and to be tied down to a game. I'm going to stop updates for a week and play less tournaments and more cash, because my bankroll is going lower and lower and I need some boostage.

Stox Vs Computer by Highcard, July 13

I was reading about the latest HU man versus machine. The elite HU limit players of Stox play against the UoA program Polaris. This is the 2nd year Polaris played against a human, losing the first time to Phil Laak but this time with updated software it takes on what I'd consider better opponents.

Matt "Hoss_TBF" Hawrilenko
IJay Palansky
Mark Newhouse
Rich McRoberts
Victor Acosta
Nick "Stoxtrader" Grudzien
Kyle "cottonseed" Hendon

The bot ends up winning the series.

Daily 50k - getting deeper by phexac, July 13

I am still not running too well in tourneys. Played both Sunday Warmup and Sunday Mil (2.8 mil prize pool - jeez!) but busted out with about 2/3 of the way down since nothing was really going my way. Also busted out of the $109 tourney around 300th of 1400. 50k treated me a bit better. About 3,200 people started this Sunday, making it the biggest daily 50k I have ever seen. I managed to get down to about 50 people before busting out with 88 vs AQ. Pretty decent finish, but 50k payout don't really become significant until the final table, so I netted myself about $250. All right, but nothing to write home about.

I have bitched a lot about running bad in tourneys in my past few blog posts, but that was mostly because I had busted out with pretty silly beats, including a 2-outer with one card to come. Overall, my tourney results are pretty decent. Looking at my recent database, I have about 30 daily 50k tourneys, out of which I have a bunch of ITM finishes, 4 finishes where I had a realistic shot at the FT (usually finishing between 20th and 60th place) and one 5th finish, which netter me about 3.5k. Definitely not a bad sample.

Then I have some Sunday tourneys. The million tourneys have been treating me like shit, so the furthest I have gotten in those was 1st or 2nd payout level, which nets 1.5-2.5 buyins back. Sunday Warmup, on the other hand, has been a lot better. Within 8 of them played, I had 1 finish around 100th and one 45th, where I busted with TT vs A8 (asdf!!, right?). So, despite some frustrating beats I took, the overall tourney results have not been bad, and I definitely feel that I have the skill to do well in these large tournaments. So just need to play some more of them. The fact that almost all my tourney entries come from 5,400 FPP Sunday million satellites makes my ROI that much higher, which is something that definitely helps the bottom line.

All in all, the situation is quite a bit better than my recent posts have made it seem, but I am as prone to bitching about my beats as the next guy. So just going to keep playing. Tourneys make a really nice supplement to ring games.
