BREAKEVEN FTW
  tae-g, Jan 23 2007

Basically broke even today at 10NL because of my inability to lay down set vs flush, straight vs flush etc. Won some heads up sngs after watching some CR hu videos. I feel like the loose aggressive style CR teaches has been playing off and is a little more fun to play.

On a good note I stacked some ppl on flush over flush, sets, overpairs, but right now I just get a little too excited in big pots and dont think enough before I make decisions.

If I make the proper laydowns today would probably be a +5 buyin day in a very short session (1-1.5 hrs), but alas I fall in love with bad hands sometimes and make fishy calls.

Atleast Im not losing money

update
  Raidern, Jan 23 2007

Yesterday was quite a weird day. My parents asked me to solve some university problems, but one of the guys I was supposed to talk made me wait for an hour and didn't grant me. That was boring as fuck, so the only thing I could do there was to get some copy of a document.

In the afternoon I went to a business building and solved another university problem, that was quite fine and I felt good about myself because I've done the first "real" negotiation of my life, and it ended up being quite sucesful, even tho my father thinks I should have done better. He complains a lot about everything, maybe he want's me to be perfect. Anyway I know he is only trying to help, so I should be thankful for that.

I like sports a lot and watch lots of it all the time. My favourite of all is obviously football (soccer), followed by Tennis and swimming. Oh I also like MMA fighting (like Pride and UFC) quite a lot too, I've been really into it for the last 3 months or something. So some of the things I'm kinda ansious how ends up is the South-American cup for youths, and also how the Australian Open (tennis) ends.

GG 25/50 and some pictures
  Daut, Jan 22 2007

So I have finished my first week at 25/50 with some pretty good results.

I made a few adjustments to adapt better to the game and things are going really well there. I dont know if i can sustain a winrate that good, but I'm very certain im one of the biggest winners in the 7-9 handed games.

I also drew a few pictures and would like to share them with you. So my ex's sister was having problems with her eye, she has a corneal ulcer. I was having some eye problems too, i was seeing those little transparent eyeworms and they were really bugging the shit out of me. here's a picture of one:

pretty scary. i also drew a picture of king kong getting shot at on top of the empire state building. basically the most awesome picture of all time.

im getting fairly good with paint and it's a lot of fun to draw stupid things when i get bored. ill post more pictures later

Confidence Rebooster
  JonnyCosMo, Jan 21 2007

Well December was a rough month of playing, as I was at NL 200 on stars for almost all of it and took stabs at NL 400. When all was said and done, I ended up losing more than I won in November and was lost as to whether or not I could still win at poker. Then I went to the PCA, and figured out what I was doing wrong...

...So I drop down to NL100, where anyone with any small amount of brain power can suceed. Applied the changes to my style (Going from 18/13 nit, to an aggro tard at 25/20) and poof~ Re: Jan 19th, my return to small stakes hold'em!

My monster 5700 hand session a few days ago, up 18 buyins over 9 tables.

I'd like to thank dont_bother0, FrinkX, TalentedTom, casinocasino, and PoorUser for the inspiration to become an aggro monkey. Watching dont_bother0 play at the PCA made me realize a lot of things about those weak/tight 2+2 regulars that infest PokerStars' low stakes NL hold'em. Sorry, I can't release all the good stuff I learned. But as you can see, it's been working:

Shiiiiiiiiiiip it~

Dilemma
  tae-g, Jan 21 2007

I can't decide one type of game to stay with. Sometimes I feel like playing sngs and Ill play them. At first I thought i was doing pretty well cashing in the majority of sngs i played, but then I had a session or two where I cashed in none...

I think the only way for me to make money consistently is cash games, but I get bored 12 table grinding pennies.

WHAT TO DO AHHHHHHHHHHH !?!?!?!

Sidebets, movies, and bad beats (from life)
  Daut, Jan 21 2007

So last night me and a few guys went out to this bar. It sucked so we left soon after. As we're walking home, we get pretty hungry because you know its like 2 am and we're drunk and you just need to go stuff your face with something, might as well be a delicious sandwich.

So on the way home we go into jimmy john's, this sandwich place. My 2 buddies each order a sandwich. Im looking over the menu and my eyes come across the gargantuan. here is the description of it:

This sandwich was invented by Jimmy John's brother Huey. It's huge enough to feed the hungriest of all humans! Tons of genoa salami, sliced smoked ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey & provolone, jammed into one of our homemade french buns then smothered with onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, & our homemade italian dressing.

what a fucking massive sandwich, the workers told me there was over a pound of meat on it, so the sandwich was probably at least 1.5 pounds including the lettuce, tomato, bread and condiments. so we sit down to eat and im mowing down my sandwich like none other. I sort of took a deep breath about 2/3 the way through and my buddy Georger looks at me and goes I bet you I could eat 3 of those in one sitting. Obviously im like SIDEBET!!!

Since Georger had already eaten a sandwich, we had to make the bet 2 more sandwiches. I gave him 3:1 odds on a 20 dollar bet and he got to take a shit before he started. However, he had to finish both sandwiches in 25 minutes and he couldnt puke for an hour. He's a big guy, like 6'0 320, but I still thought it was a good bet because all the Jimmy John's workers were screaming YOU HAVE NO CHANCE MAN and it took me a while to finish that sandwich.

so we start the bet at 2:37, i set an alarm on my phone for 3:00 meaning the 2 minute warning for him. He fucking sat there with a fork demolishing the sandwiches. Things werent looking good for me when he finished the first sandwich at 2:46. I thought he would slow up as I saw him give a few deep breaths and stretches but the man just kept going and finished at 2:58. i scowled and said "I'm tired and going to bed", so i threw 60 dollars down on the table and start walking to my room. Then to add insult to injury my fucking phone alarm starts going off reminding me of how badly I was destroyed. I went to bed angry at myself for making a food bet against a fat man.

So I wake up this morning and georger is obviously feeling like shit, but he wanted to go to best buy to spend my money on a bunch of movies, so I tagged along and ended up buying the whole fucking store. I spent 310 dollars on fucking movies. Here's what i got:

the wire season 1, prison break season 1, the godfather 1, layer cake, gladiator, fight club, magnolia, city of god, robocop/terminator double feature (awesome purchase baby), true lies, braveheart, saving private ryan. ong bak (that tony ja thai warrior movie), american history x, donnie darko and scarface. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

But now I have the worst bad beat of all time. Nothing in the world pisses me off more than removing those fucking secure labels from the new dvd box. why would the fucking dvd distributors find the need to not only throw the celophane wrapping on the dvd but also put the annoying secure label which takes like 20 minutes to remove on there. Nobody is going to fucking change the movie thats inside, thats what the wrapping is for. At least make those things easier to remove, I dont want to have to spend like 2 hours opening my fucking movies up. it irritates me to no end.

oh actually there is one thing i hate more than that. THE NEW STARS BUY CHIPS BOX OMFG. It's fucking the most annoying thing of all time. Look at this piece of shit:

fucking, when you reload or buy in, you have to click INSIDE THE LITTLE CIRCLE. you cant even click the line. whats worse is you cant press up and then press enter, it doesnt work. so rigged and annoying, i hope PS comes out with a patch and 1984s this thing and I can pretend like it never happened.

ok time to shower and get ready for some football baby. id like to see a pats/saints super bowl but i suspect it will be colts/bears. oh well whatever, the jets are playing golf right now so who really gives a shit what happens as long as i get to see good games and maybe rex grossman suffering a broken collar bone.

Small Blog Change
  Roald, Jan 21 2007

I added something that probably should have been added in the first place. Duplicate post detection. I did this instead of giving people the ability to delete their own posts. This was by request of Liquid`Meat. If you have a blog and really want that ability, send him a PM and maybe he'll reconsider Also, if you see this post twice it means I messed up.

uh created a blog
  Raidern, Jan 21 2007

Hello. My name is Antoniel, I'm 21 and I'm from the small but nice city of Joao Pessoa, Brazil. Well I don't really know what I'm going to write here, especially because I pretty much don't play poker, I played a little in the past, but lost the whole 50$ deal and I'm considering trying to play again in the future, but who knows.

Anyway, I read some blogs and thought it was nice to write some shit here, there is also the part where I can practice my always sucking english, maybe it will help me giving me more vocabulary and how to form the phrases better, as person who has english as 1st language would do. That's it. I would like to thank the 3 people that pretty much work for this site (joy roald and nazgul) for this nice feature and hope an improved me in the future can find something good in what I will write here.

bye.

First 24 hours of NL100
  Roald, Jan 19 2007

If I were actually playing decent poker, these numbers would be much higher or maybe much lower. At NL50 I was 16/8 and now I've dropped down to 12/6 and I guess plan on opening up a bit as my confidence increases.

So Whats Next?
  Roald, Jan 19 2007

I'm very happy with how the blogs came out and its great that they have been received well by the liquid poker community. The hard work has been rewarded many times over by the enjoyment I got reading some of the blogs. But now isn't the time to take a break apparently

I got a request from Nazgul to add a feature that I think will be a very nice addition to the site. This is definitely a smaller scale project so I'm hoping to crank it out in 1 or 2 programming sessions.

I won't mention exactly what it is just yet though, but I think quite a few of you will agree that this unique feature is a logical next step in the evolution of lp.

An introduction of myself.
  CrownRoyal, Jan 17 2007

First of all, my name is Caleb Gunter, I live in the United States of America, and I am 18 years old.

Poker for me, thus far into my career of it has been basically a way for me to buy beer on the weekends and to pay off a few fines that I have unfortunately recieved. My bankroll has never exceeded 1k, however, I have made well over 1k profits from poker. I would consider myself an all-around balanced poker player including tournaments, ring play, and sng. Coming from my starcraft background I can multitable pretty well, and have played as many as 27 $6 9 man turbo sng at once, granted i had ~1% ROI in that session .

My style in poker is almost fearless, even when im underrolled i find myself playing as if I have 100buyins for my limit, which is a good and bad thing because it causes me to have a pretty swingy bankroll. I would consider myself a risk taker, playing NL50 on occasion with 6 buyins and moving down to nl25 when hitting $250 until I had $300 again but I would really like to quit doing that, quit cashing out every week, and really bare down and start grinding my way up the stakes because im pretty sure I could do really well.

To be honest, at this point in my career as a poker player, lowstakes bore me and i am playing almost purely tournaments hoping for a big cash to stake me for at least Nl100 and skip out on all the petty bullshit. I have on occasion came very close to this very glory only to be cut short on a terrible beat, or playing like a jackass(This hand almost made me want to quit poker, I know, I'm a faggot http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/125095) First prize in that tournament was 6.5k and i was the chipleader at that point in the tournament, 18 people left, and the villain was 3rd in chips, whatever im done bitching about it) I've never finished better then 6th in a big MTT and I think my biggest cash is something like $420.

As of right now, however, my bankroll is barely big enough to be playing anything other then the $1.50 18 man turbo sng and whenever my internet gets turned back on(we had a terrible ice storm this past weekend) I intend on grinding those back up to the 3's and the 3's back to the 6's where I can fund my tournament play safely.

This has became a bit longer then intended, however, I hope it interested you.

bug fixed (the power of 4 tabling and table select
  Baalim, Jan 17 2007

Thats righ baby, 44ptbb/100 !!

i obviuosly ran hot, but as Straate suggested me im 4 tabling now and daaaamn im loving it, stupid mind numbing 8-12 tabling now it think its a commonly taught mistake here in LP.NET

4 table FTW!

The other day Capaneo told me "zomg ive cashed like 4 1.5k promotions already!!!"

and im like damn... ill never get those 4 tablings then it hit me... waaaaaaaaaitt that is RAKE back, that means... he got returned a minimal part of what he paid... money i havent and wont pay cuz i play less hands... yay i rule!

Anyway im still way behind from the downswing, i need a couple of these good days more to start rolling again ;3

New Plan
  tae-g, Jan 17 2007

At the advice of Oxy (thanks a bunch) I started playing 5+50 SNGs instead of 10NL to build my bankroll so I can get to 50NL and start to play real poker. The nice thing about the non-turbo tournaments is you can play them much more like a cash game early to mid game it seems. Ended up $43 ahead, which I believe figures to 71% ROI, while 6-tabling. (11 games...2 1st($22.50/game),3 2nd($13.50/game), 2 third($9.00/game)) If you can play a decent cash game style early-mid game you can bust fish pretty easily. They will call with anything just about. Plus, the tournaments get me fpp faster than 10NL was, so Im that much closer to clearing the astounding $50 deposit bonus. In light of today's success I think I'll stick to these SNGs for a while and hopefully get rolled enough to play 50NL.
