After getting back from PCA i went back to 5/10 then said fuck it and threw down the gauntlet and started playing 10/20 and 25/50. I feel like I adjusted to the game really fast (having a bottomless bankroll helps with that) and I do feel very comfortable and like I'm one of the better players on full ring.

Some stats so far:



I think I can do fairly well in the 25/50 game because most of the really good players are a little weaker at 9max than shorthanded. Hopefully I get some good sh sessions with GP in soon. Got a funny story to tell but I'll leave that for tomorrow.

Yesterday I began my ascent to NL10 as a result of fantastic advice from the ever brilliant LP.net community. I'm doing fairly well at this limit so far and am making a ton more FPP than i was at the penny tables so ill clear my deposit bonus within a few days.

I feel like my fishy game has recently improved by lightyears after watching GP PITF and BigBalls FR and 6-max midstakes videos. Their explanations and practical application of position abuse, cbetting, inducing bluffs, and extracting value have taught me a lot and helped move my view away from ABC weaktight poker.

Hopefully ill continue to have success at NL10 and will move up to NL25 within some weeks (or months) when my BR will allow it.

So the other day was going just awesome. During the day this girl I was kind of seeing at the beginning of the year came over and ended my bad run, woohooooo. About time I caught some cards.

Anyway, there is this girl Laura who I kind of wanted all semester, but I never really got to hang out with her, and from what was relayed to me through others she wanted me too. My roommate Joe is good friends with one of her roommates, but we never got the chance to all hang out together. Joe told me that tonight was going to be her last night before xmas break, and she wanted to go out, YESSSSSS, WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS BABY TONIGHTS THE NIGHT.

Anyway, we go out to some bars and her roommates are acting all sad the whole time, saying that its so sad that this was her last night on campus. I was thinking to myself "you guys need to chill out, youll be back in like 3 weeks". I was kind of bummed out because bad beat city arrived and her brother showed up to the bar. I was like oh god wtf. First off the kid was like 6'3 220, a lot bigger than me, second off, he seemed kind of protective, and third off I didnt really feel like disrespecting him.

So I told her roommate, Anna, that I wanted to hit on her so bad but I didnt want to disrespect her brother. so she goes "ill tell laura that". THANK YOU ROOMMATE WINGMAN!!! So she went over to relay the information to laura and man was i pumped.

Ok, so her brother goes to some other bar or something, but we were going to meet up with him later, so i saw a chance (which seemed like the only opportunity id get any time to talk with her without her brother there). I walk over and say "so i really wanted to ask you out all semester but i never really got the chance, and now were with your brother and i dont want to hit on you and disrespect him, do i have to wait till next semester to get some time with you?"

she looked up kind of surprised and i thought i was in until i hear "why didnt you ask me out all semester, this is my last night here im not coming back" OMG SUCH A TERRIBLE BEAT. i got owned so hard, apparently shes going to ENGLAND next semester then who knows after that. at least i have the satisfaction of knowing i WOULD HAVE BEEN IN if i wasnt such a retard timing wise lol.

so the night ends up unsuccessful, i decide to not try to viciously hook up with her that night while her brother is there, so i go home and notice the grim reaper of blue screens of death on my monitors. i try restarting, but something is wrong with windows and it wont start. so i go to bed and decide to fix it the next day.

i wake up and mess around for a little while, but no matter what i just cant get windows to start. so i say fuck it, do a system restore back to october, and manage to get windows back up and running. oh yeah, i rule. so my computer is up, im happy, decide to open minesweeper and play a little and then i realize IT DELETED ALL MY SCORES. Then my mind quickly runs things over and realize not only did it delete my minesweeper high scores, but it also deleted all my PT stats since october AND MY PORNO.

oh well, at least that day started off well, i guess i am still running bad.

gotta go study for my 2 finals tomorrow. math 501 and math 535, gonna be a fucking blast. lets just hope and pray i dont fail my ass out of here.

So I'm sitting around doing homework at like 2 am chatting on ventrilo with some friends from liquidpoker when someone tells me to open up the 25/50 table on stars cause grandiose is babbling incoherently at GP about why he is angry that people think he is a losing player. Blah Blah whatever who cares.

Anyway, GP constantly mentions that he is watching a softcore porno with his roommate, I guess in an attempt to get grandiose to shut the fuck up. Regardless, he mentioned it several times. When grandiose was finally booted from the table, talk of this porno resumed, and GP said the following:

Im friends with p3achy, and he is mainly a 6max player who started playing solme full ring after I gave him a few tips. Hes a pretty good solid player, playing like 14/11 or so and pretty decent postflop.

After I reraised and the guy called out of the blinds p3achy INSTANTLY called the reraise. I put him on a pocket pair when he did this because there wasnt much thought as to if he should reraise or fold.

When he check raised all in, I immediately thought he had 55 or JJ. I started thinking a little harder, and saw some semibluff possibilities like KQs QTs maybe Axs too. Also possible he could have AK as well, but in that case, since i dont have a spade, in 4 out of the 6 possible ways for him to have AK he is freerolling me at about 5%. I didnt think he would have AA here because of the coldcaller and I also didnt think he would be doing this with a naked flush draw or naked AQ. I reluctantly folded the hand and a lot of my friends told me they thought it was a horrible fold.

I ran some pokerstove calculations on it and they came up with the following:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 24.9349 % 13.48% 11.45% { AcKh }

He INSTANTLY check raised me, and i figured rizen isnt the kind of guy to make a smallish check raise just to save money so i put him on a feeler raise to snap off a cbet. Well feel this out buddy!

I timebanked this one forever on the river before calling. This player really bothers me for some reason. First off his icon is irritatingly ugly, I dont even know what it is, but it looks sort of like a deformed version of that doll chucky from childs play. Secondly, his style just pisses me off. Hes ultra ultra passive (his overall AF is .88), and he usually makes these tiny bets trying to squeak out as much value as he can, like if you continuation bet and he calls, and you check the turn he will bet like 1/4 pot whether he has a monster or a weakish hand that is beating yours.

So, when he potted the river I couldnt really figure out what to do. I should have folded, but it just seemed so strange because earlier he turned a straight flush on me and bet exactly 1/2 pot into me on the river and i flatted it with top 2 pair. So when he made this move, I was really confused because he never bets strong with anything. I probably should have folded because I dont see him floating me twice, but I was skeptical about the river bet so I decided to call, plus the fact that its blind on blind with a huge hand.


Alright, Im gonna go to class, mainly out of guilt of missing my first two today. Maybe Ill post some more hands later if youre lucky, but my guess is youre not and youll end up reading retarded randomness again.

So last night after I finished up playing poker, I went to bed but couldnt really sleep, so I threw on Heat, one of my all time favorite movies. As im laying in bed watching I notice i got a few ims from my friend.

I jump out of bed real quick to answer him and my remote, which was laying on my blanket peacefully, flies up in the air and hits the ground real hard in a thud. I bend over and pick it up and without me hitting a button it changes my tv to channel 8. I hit the down channel button in an attempt to go down to the AV channel, but every time I hit a button it would enter 8. 8 had taken over my remote.

So I walk up to the tv, place down the remote, manually change the channel and go lay back down. Within a couple of seconds of hitting my bed, the remote comes to life and changes the channel to 8.

As an intense scowl is quickly creeping across my face, I leap up, grab the remote, throw it in the lowest dresser drawer, shut it, and change the channel back to AV. I jump in bed, turn around, and i see the 8 already on the tv as the ghost remote is changing the channel already.

Now, at this point, a sane man would calmly walk to the tv and remove the batteries from the demon remote. But seeing as I was on monkey life tilt, i grab the remote, fling open my door and toss the thing in the hallway, screaming at it that "YOU WILL STAY OUT THERE UNTIL YOU DECIDE YOU CAN BEHAVE YOURSELF!!!!!" Im gonna make a good father one day. Luckily it didnt have super powers to change the channel through the wall and I could go back to watching my movie in peace.


So this morning, I wake up around 1 ish, and its time for football. I decide to give the possessed clicker a second chance. Immediately upon entering the room it changes the channel to 8. I start breathing really heavy and get ready to throw it at the wall as hard as i can (which from my baseball days, is about 80 mph, this thing was about to meet its doom). Before i release, I notice (now that the lights are on) that when I dropped the remote, the cover had shifted over a little bit from the impact of the fall and was pressing in the 8 key. Awesome, nice to know im a total retard.


So today my jets destroyed the packers and we improved to 7-5. Our remaining schedule is Buffalo home, Minnesota away, miami away and oakland home. Oh baby, anything less than 10 wins will be a disappointing end to the season. Hopefully that gets us into the playoffs. I think the other 7-5 teams have to play each other, at least KC/jax do.


One poker related note. So I entered the sunday million today, and during the 3rd break, (in the money at this point) my buddy Pooruser and I were at the same table with similar chipstacks, i had about 82k he had 81k. We decided to swap 10%. About 5 minutes after break I busted AK v KK in the first level of the money, cashing for a monster 269, while he managed to eek his way into the 2nd level of the money, cashing for 401, so I netted a sick $13 profit from my awesome deal, SHIP IT BABY!!!

Played a bit of cash today, ended up about 1300 in 800 hands or so. Doing extremely well on full ring lately, im running about 14.5ptbb over 6500 hands, for a 19.5k profit. Im just going to keep playing that while the games are good.

It look like the core functionality works in the blogs. It was a fun three weeks (part time) that I spent on this. There are lots more new things on the horizon for Liquid Poker and I hope to be part of them.
