Last blog, I posted about how I'm going to become a cash-game player. I'm not lying, you can look it up.

After talking with a few friends, and reading some of the comments in my last blog, and sort of just thinking about it a little more, I decided that there's no reason I should classify myself in one way or another.

I'm planning on mixing up what I play each day, depending how I feel and how much time I have, etc.

It'll be some mix of 25NL, $11-22 mtts, $4-12 180s and $16 9-man sngs I think. So you might see me anyplace on any given night.

Anyway, in BR news, we're relatively booming. We started the night with $1,367.79. We got second in a $12 180man this afternoon, and had a decent, pretty short NL25 session this morning.

Hi Nits,

I began my career as a cash game player last night with a bankroll of about $250, 4 tabling NL25. I ran pretty good and ran it up to about $440 over 1k hands. I put two sessions in today, about 1550 hands total, and basically broke even. Bankroll currently stands at $465 and change.

This is the first time I've ever tried cash games with a proper bankroll and some focus/discipline. I've played SNGs and MTTs almost exclusively to this point, except for some retarded huge shots at cash games that I had no business being at.

I feel like reading a bunch of stuff on LP and constantly looking over hands here has really helped me absorb the difference between cash games and tournaments, but there's obviously no substitute for experience.

So, I'm going to put in my time starting now, and really start dedicating myself to learning cash games, and putting in a lot of hands at the tables whenever I can.

You'll start seeing some cash game hands posted by good old nutshot from now on. When you see me fuck up a hand, don't pull any punches. Criticize the shit out of me, I need all the help I can get.

My boys Trey and Brian (BJLTNYK) have been awesome support for the last couple months when I've sort of been trying to figure out my role in the poker world, and what I want to do with it. I'm constantly sending them hands, asking questions, and annoying them, but they always have time to help. I don't thank them cause I ain't gay yo, but this is their chance to see they're appreciated. They also know that they're in for some shit when we all head up to TS in October and I dominate them HU.

i write to you today from the lobby of the hotel i'm staying at with my parents and brother. we're here in massachusetts at a baseball showcase because my brother's apparently good or something. anyway, i'm in the lobby with my laptop very comfortable, using the wireless network and obv multitabling sng's.

however, this is not the most degen fun of the day so far.

on our way up from new york, we stopped at mohegan sun casino because my mom's a slot machine degenerate. however, as most of you northeast guys know, gg there's no poker there. that obviously doesn't stop me from the gamble.

i sit with $100 at a $10 min blackjack table, and fucking Kim runs off some sick cards, including doubled down 20 < Kim's fucking 5 card 21 pull. Fuck you.

so, nutshot2 has about $100 left for gambling purposes, and proceeds to sit down at texas holdem bonus table. WOOOOO.

for those who don't know, its basically minbet poker against the dealer. basically, you put up $5 for the ante, $5 for the bonus, then $10 on the flop, $5 on the turn + $5 on the river. you can fold preflop and lose the bonus and the ante $$, blah blah, whatever. the allure of the game is that you get paid certain odds on starting hands, for instance: small pairs pay 3-1 on your bet, middle pairs pay 5-1, AQ pays 10-1, AKo pays 15-1, etc.

so, i get crushed by variance for a little while, win some, lose some.. then i'm down to like $30, basically enough for a full hand. this obviously gives me the bright idea to play the whole hand blind. i post the ante and the bonus $5, don't look at my cards, put up my $10+5+5 flop turn and river bets, and start praying to lee. the board comes like A J 9 4 3 with four diamonds. i'm like OHHH PLEASE DIAMOND GOGOGOGO.

dealer flips my cards one at a time for some reason now cause she knows i didn't look. ace of clubs, ok, i has a pair.. ZOMG ACE OF SPADES HELLO!!! TRIPS GOOD VS J4o for the dealer, so i doubled my 10+5+5 bets, but more importantly.. house pays 30-1 on AA weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

nutshot lives to see another day, and leaves exactly even. gg mohegan sun, fuck you kim!

first set: (1) 1st place, (1) 2nd place, (2) 3rd place, (8) losses.

profit: $0.20. Die.


second set: (4) 1st place, (3) 2nd place, (2) 3rd place, (3) losses.

Sup Nits -

So on Monday night, I received a stake from Trey to play 4.40 180-man sng's, and 6.50 single table sng's.

The first 4-table set of 6.50's I played really sucked...lost some flips and was card dead... so I figured, let's play the next few 4.40s that open.

I final tabled three at once, lol. I got two Wins, and a Fifth. I didn't play last night, and today I got an 11th and a bunch of losses in the 4.40s.

I just played a set of 8 6.50s, and came out +$29. Three first-place finishes, and five out of the money.

So far, I'm up about $400 on the stake, and feeling great about my play.

More importantly, I'm hoping the light of BR management has finally gone on in my head, and will stay on. It feels great to be playing within a bankroll right now. When I would go over my head in the past, it would be because I either a) owed someone, b) wanted some extra IRL cash, or c) [enter stupid reason here].

Now I don't owe anyone money, I have plenty of $$ IRL, and I'm just feeling a lot better mentally. Hopefully this is the beginning of something very good for me.
