Finally!
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 27 2007

Yea, I actually seem to be doing well at NL100 now. I’m up like 5 buyins this week and I’m starting to get a feel for it. It’s a bit less nitty compered to NL50 so I’ve made some bad laydowns but I think that it might be better to be on the tigher side of things, at least in the beginning. A thing that greatly disturbs me is preflop min-raising. For some reason a lot of people on Unibet seems to love to raise to 2 bb with all kinds of shit. It’s just repulsive! I’ve started to reraise that shit with a very liberal range of hands and so far it has worked out really well. The one thing I’m thinking about right now is how big these pre flop raises should be. Assuming that people can do that with things like suited connectors, premium hands and pairs I’d really like to remove any odds for set hunting, but I don’t really know what I think about raiseing to something like 12-14 bb with semi-bad hands that I might have to let go of after a contbet or so. This also applies to normal reraises preflop. If someone has any ideas about this topic I’d love to hear them.

Another thing about reraised pots: I read some “the well with CTS” or something on 2+2 and he talked about how people generally bets to big in a reraised pot since you’ll get people allin anyway because the pot starts out a lot bigger and the implied odds are smaller. I’ve tried this out and started to bet half pot if I’ve reraised something pre flop on most occations. I only bet bigger if there’s obvious draws in the board that I wouldn’t like people chasing. I feel that this is nice since I get away from things cheaper but still gets the same value out of worse hands. Is this good or bad? Anyone?

A few thoughts.
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 26 2007

So I’ve been playing NL100 for a few more sessions. People make much more moves on this level and I’ve started to use 2nd barrel and even 3rd barrel at after a somewhat big procent of my pre-flop raises. I feel that I’m much harder to run over now and that’s nice. I’m also starting to suspect that I’m givning away some kind of timingtell because I’m not getting any action on my big hands even though I contbet a huge amount of the time. It’s not flopdependant either because it’s both when I hit something like A74 rainbow with AK and when I hit 699 with 66. I think that I’ll make sure to wait like 5 secounds with every bet after the flop from now on. I’ll need to learn to go with my read too. I’ve been right when I’ve been thinking that “ok, it’s only XXX to call for XXX but most he probably has me beat” and called anyway, which sucks. I’ll probably try to go more with my reads from now on and also make sure to make some unorthodox plays from time to time. With any luck that’ll give me an edge. I’m break-even so far on NL100 this week and my goal is to be a winning player within a week or two.

I gotta move!
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 25 2007

I just learned that non of my two flatmates have seen any star wars movie. They just went from "human" to "sub human less then rat itchy stuff". Also, Pooruser might get some HU-action. If it happends, I know of it in time and someone tells me how to transfer money on partypoker I'd be intressted in making some smallish sidebets.

Micro-stakes homegame!
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 24 2007

Ok, so me and some friends decided to have a live cash game. This was actually my first live cash game. We were 5 more or less sexy dudes who in various degrees plays poker. The lineup was as follows:

Me

Dannyboy, some dude who plays NL200, is really nice and likes to put people on hands. He can make some moves and is overall solid.

Some friend of Dannyboy who sucked, is kinda stupid and easy money.

HuggyBear, a friend of mine who’s really a good friend and someone I like to spend time with. It’d be worth to play with him even if I wasn’t making money out of it. He’s probably a slight winner on NL50, so he’s decent enough.

A friend of me and Huggybear, Simon, who’s basicly a rich kid who is still a good guy.

The blinds was 1/2 SEK, and 7 SEK = 1 USD, so it was something like a NL30 Game. I and Danny bought in for 200 bb (400 sek) and the others for around 100 bb. The game started out kinda slow, but after like 20 hands or so I pick up AKo in the sb and Simon raises and I reraise. Dannyboy flat calls my reraise and Simon folds. The flop is Q93 rainbow and I bet out, Simon calls. The turn is a brick and I check, be bets weak and I call. River is another brick and I figures that he probably puts me on an overpair now so I fire allin which is about the size of the pot and expect him to fold anything but a set (there wasn’t any resonable 2 pair hands he could have). He thinks for a long time and folds, I show my A-high and I feel like I’ve already won. A few hands later he floats me 2 streets and gets me of the monsterhand T-high with 5 high. I feel really down.

Next intressting hand is between me and him again. He calls utg, Simon completes the sb and I check 93o from the bb. Flop is 973 rainbow. Simon raises, I call with the intention to check/raise turn but unfortunatly Dannyboy reraises strong. Simon folds and I think for a while and decides to call since he really could have anything. The turn brings another 7 and now I feel that I’m behind. I don’t think he’d have 77 since quads are kinda unlikely. I have a 9 and a 3 so sets are unlikely too. The problem is that he could have 97 but I feel that it’s more likely that he has something like an OESD or A9. I check, he bets really strong and I push allin for like 100bb more. He thinks for a while and folds, I show my hand again and now I can tell that he’s not very happy with me. He says that it was a great play and whatnot and I feel really good. We play some more and I end up stacking him with Queens vs a OESD on a T9rag flop where he tilted kinda hard. I end the evening up about 600 SEK, that’s like 40 USD or something which feels kinda patetic for an evening of poker, but since it’s like 3 100bb buy-ins I guess I can’t really say anthing than that it was really good.

Dannyboy and the stupid one was down a lot. Huggybear was down a little and Simon won a few 100 SEK.

I'm a pussy
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 24 2007

And I get fucked mentally by bad beats far too much. I've decided to man up, take it as a dick and just try to play on. Also, NL100 is full of calling stations :D

Dusty tries NL100, fails horribly again.
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 23 2007

Since I’m down under 4k again I’ll start grinding NL50 for a while again. I’ve decided that I won’t play NL100 if it hurts my BR. Next try on NL100 will be when I have 4.5 k. I’ll probably cash out half my BR in april or something and put into the stock market so I’ll try to be very overrolled untill then. Ok, anyway, I shouldn’t complain. I’m up a lot this month, but this still makes me a bit annoyed. That’s no good.

Anyway, I recall Saki said something about having to move up and down a lot of times when he first tried out NL200. That makes me feel a bit better. Here's some hands from my last 30 min session:

KK vs TT pf allin, he spikes his T on the river (75 bb)
Set vs set (50 bb)
K-high flush vs A-high flush on flop. (150 bb)

I also managed to do one bluff where some dude calls me down for 30 bb with secound pair and when I finaly flop a FH in a raised pot the other dude, who’s famous for going allin with anything checks 3 streets with AK-high. THANKS A LOT GOD! I was down almost 3 bi in 30 min.

ok, sry, this post sucked but I had to just write about it. I'll try to not post so much about bad runs and such for a while.

What the fuck was that!?
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 23 2007

I tried some jujutsu today. The bad thing was that everyone got Airlines all the time and I kinda crashed into the floor all the time. IT WAS SO FUN! That's like the ultimate tilt-killer!

On another note; I've seen a lot of HSP and Poker after dark during the last few days and I must say that I really like Doyle and The Mouth more now. Other then that I'd have to say that Sam Farha looks really nice in his suit. Teh pwnage.

I'm soon at NL100 again!
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 21 2007

Ok, so I've got like 25 USD or something untill I hit 4k and try another shot at NL100. I've got like 250 USD on party too, which I use to play some omaha hi/low. It's nice to learn a new game, I'll try to get a little roll going on party so that I can game select a bit better and I've got a livegame coming up in a few days. This I'll be a really fun week I hope. And if it doesn't work out I'll join a Ju-jutizu-class anyway so I can fuck someone up/get my ass kicked to feel better.

omaha hi/low
  DustySwedeDude, Jan 20 2007

so I played some PL25 omaha hi/low on party. I barly know the rules but I made like 3 buyins in 90 minutes or so. God they sucked. It's a pity that there aren't many PL50 games on party cause I feel that the general skill level in omaha is much lower then in texas hold'em. Also, I've won back almost everything I lost during my little downswing. Dusty is back!

edit: I can't spell.
