well u know williams like to run it a lot of times (as he did against the businessguy), he can pretty much get it in a dominant spot and still reduce variance significantly by running it 5 times or w/e...

he still was up around 140k at that point, and even if he busted against williams its still enough to win the lapt thing if he folds the rest

all these factors should make it an EASY repop, esp since you can run it many many times.

AA is a good fold actually, he is gonna have a really hard time postflop and will not be able to keep the pot small ever, even if the other guys have air they will put pressure knowing he has AA 100% of the time (same if he 3bets, he cant 3bet big enough)

if he's going to fold aa he should just not fuckin look at his cards in the first place, why put a little more stress on yourself knowing that you're going to fold whatever good hand, then you might see the board and find out that you could have flopped top set.
the fact that he's a college math teach w poker experience means that he SHOULD know better. but anyways whatever, we won't be seeing any of him ever again.

If they thought he had anything else they could still push him out of any pot, when he is up that much every dollar he puts in is money he is directly going to lose, so even a pfr means sooo much to him, and postflop he is only getting to showdown if he flops the nuts, so ez fold

Didn't someone say he should sit out and something like "Oh wait you have to look at your cards" saying it was the rules I think.

He had already won life changing money for him. No amount apart from a ridiculous figure could of made him any happier or excited. It makes no sense for him to take ANY risk even with the KK hand. It ceases to become a mathematical/statistical problem when you are dealing with life changing money. You could even define it as irresponsible if he continued to play.

He made the right call folding AA and KK.

You should know that 35k is about a year's salary for a teacher. One 3k pot is a month's pay.

Sure you can reraise KK against williams 30k stack, but you're forgetting that the business man is still to act and has him covered, so if he repops it to 15k and the business calls then what do you do. Now you're playing a pot that's 30k in size and can easily get you fucked against a station like the business man.

You guys are poker players and think EV is the only rational correct method of play but that's because you are in the long term business of EV decisions. The teacher will not have these future opportunities to even out variance. Even if he was offered 99% odds to bet all his money he wouldn't. If you can't understand that then you don't understand human nature, which is not solely a function of EV but is a multivalued function of things such as regret and utility. His utility function does not increase much from 130k to 200k. His utility function is very different between 30k and 130k.

I think it's sad to see all these posts saying the math teacher is an idiot because it really shows the warped mind of poker players who think everything MUST be +EV. I've made this point before but poker players are hypocrites. For example Baal you think every decision you make must be +EV and yet you continue racing cars which is probably one of the most -EV decisions you can make in life in terms of life expectancy/injuries.

Yeah I understand his decision, but you guys are exaggerating as well. He could have won more at almost a "risk free" cost.

Only thing I get is that businessman is in the pot, but yeah very likely that the only guy that sympathize w/ the loose cannon goes apeshit when faced a 5-bet.
