Play less and more focused, you play at shit limits like forever anyway.
I am finding that 1 hour per day with proper hand review of all not super ez hands is much better than 5 hours of mindless grinding.

I gotta grind a lot so I don't have to get a part time job, but now I'm not even making above minimum wage. Fuck I have a reason for doing everything and I consider a strategy for every single opponent at the table but fuck, some people are able to just click buttons and win everytime.
That 1 hour per day is fine if its just a hobby but I use poker to get gas/food/going out money etc. and 1 hr is not gonna cut it. groups of 2-3 hour sessions seems cool to me.
Alright guys, August is the last month for me to win something decent. If I don't, I really am going accept the fact that I'm going to suck forever at this shit, and thus I will quit. I was miserable as a waiter, but now this shit is starting to fucking get worst. Only thing cool about poker is that I get to spend more time with my girlfriend and friends. But now I'm not even fucking making anything.
I'm really trying hard not to throw my mouse at the wall. |

i feel ya man. playing poker for living expenses is quite frustrating and really depressing, especially if your confidence is starting to die. i would suggest playing at a limit which u crush, just to regain confidence and make money as well, hold off "moving up" for the meantime |

Maybe give yourself a lower stoploss, like 1-2 buyins. You lose that you take a 1-2 hr cool off period and come back at it, that way it's not so detrimental. idk just a thought. Gl man. |

I remember playing vs you like 6 months ago and had you labeled a super nit, running like 13/9 or something like that. If that's how you "consider a strategy for every single opponent at the table" then I think you need to reconsider your strategy. Just my 2c |

Definitely think this is some sound advice. Gives you a chance to cool off and relax a bit. At least while u seem to be losing a lot of hands. I find this method helps. |

funny comment indeed, you are exactly the same as OP. What happened with the nl50 to nl5k plan?
I'm quoting your response when I somehow questioned this plan "keep grinding the same limits for the same amount of money every month, i have more ambition".
Well lemon, i moved up recently what about you? Oh wait I guess you moved down |

def set stop losses you obviously can't handle losing more than 3-4 buyins a session. If you really need to play more (ie get stacked 4 times or more in like 15-30 min) take a break. even a 30min to 1 hour long break can really help you clear your mind and de tilt.
Cigs helped me keep my stress down back in the day but I probably wouldn't recommend it since it's terrible for your health. Nowadays I work out every day. a mix of 1-2 days of lifting and mostly cardio on the other days. Really helps keep down the stress levels and that'll make you happier/perform better overall in the long run.
Start thinking about sustainable life styles. I mean sitting around all day and just playing poker and eating terrible works for some people. But I feel most people can't sustain them selves long run this way. Consider smoking some weed tho, not absolutely terrible for your health and really relaxing ;D

Is this a brag, attempt to make me feel bad, motivational post or advice?
Seriously, I can't tell what the internet posts mean recently -.-
P.S. And listen to Yomer, lifestyle choices are reflected in winrates a lot, especially when you play long sessions on more tables. |

the simple truth is you should get a job. you cannot handle playing for a living if you trip on losing 6 buyins let alone at anything below 200nl. poker seems easy when everything works you lose here and there but you have winning months you think your good but probably not. everyone underestimates variance both when there winning and when they start losing.
people really dont understand how hard poker is especially doing it professionally. leatherass put it best by comparing it to owning your own buisness. yes you can make good money make your schedule and all that but sometimes you do right and still lose money, you have to put in hours when you dont want to and still make perfect decisions, you have to control your emotions and keep a clear mind when everything starts going wrong and you feel like shit and people are pissing you off, all they see is other people who do it and it looks easy i just have to do xyz and ill make money not knowing what it truly means.
sorry for the rant i just woke up and this kinda struck a nerve i guess. seriously though get a job your going to wish you did awhile ago whenever you finally do. also fwiw ive been playing professionally for the majority of this year and its been mediocre even though ive made more money than most jobs i could have gotten. |
