Nike has a really cool slogan, "Just do it". So many people complain and bitch about how they cant do X or Y, "I'm only playing 10k hands a month, how do I play more?". The answer is very simple, sit down, set a schedule and JUST DO IT, if you waste your energy procrastinating (this takes a lot of energy BTW) then you go no where in life

fwiw, I've read a lot of your threads. All the way though.
Each time I felt kinda bad for you. I'm sorry you think you're depressed.

I actually thought for a bit about what I could do to help you. My thoughts ranged from:
"Wow that sucks."
to
"lol.."
to
"Maybe I should coach this guy."

..but, yeah...
I've got my own problems. Everyone's got their own problems. Maybe that's what's wrong with the world. =s

Ultimately, I feel like issues like this are things we all have to grow though.
Just remember that it's you who decides how you react to the things that happen to you.

I was going to make a post that highlighted all the parts of your post I disagreed with, or were just plain pointless (and by pointless I mean self-defeating), but I think you can do that yourself. It would probably have come off much too condescending to be helpful.

Take a week of from poker, and your job if possible. Do this for yourself, as a gift. What do you really have to lose? Just take some time out and think. Go for a couple walks or long car rides. You don't even have to do it alone.

I don't think grinding is what you need right now, at most think about why you even play poker (actually think: as in, ask 'why' to every conclusion ad-inf. You break through the ego defenses that way). Then come back. Re-read your post, and go from there.

Only tryin' to help,
SemP

PS. Don't open limp.

1 last thing to add is, Take responsibility for your results in everything you do. I can tell you within 99% confidence your results in poker or anything you choose to do are in direct coorliation with your skill level / expertise. Once you realize you have control over almost every aspect of your life, and people who suceed are not some special gods, they are people who work hard and put in the time to become better.

I rag on you constantly but I've already told you why in a constructive, honest, and straightforward way. I even took a second out of flaming you constantly to make it clear why.

I'm going to try one more time.

You need to work on your RL and you need to never look at poker as an income source or ever expect to withdraw. Why do I say this?
Because you are not even REMOTELY GOOD at poker, you don't even qualify as having a beginners level of knowledge about poker. You need to completely scrap your current thoughts while playing and actually learn the game.

Do you realize that people make their living off of playing basketball? By extension, can you see to what level this has taken the game? It isn't something you just start playing and get into the NBA.

You can think of the microstakes like school.. where you are learning the ropes to life (poker). You NEED to start there and STUDY.

Keep reacting defensively to every gem of knowledge the forums have dropped on your ass and you will keep getting shit on.

btw i totally disagree with Twisted

Its stupid to avoid doing something just cause its easier.Yes the guy is bitchy, emotional etcetc. - soo avoiding to learn to control his emotions is better for him ? really? Yeah it will be hard but so what ? People constantly take irrational decisions coz of emotions.I d say best thing a man can do is learn to control them.

Also being depressed.. your mind / body feeling depressed is not a signal to start feeling sorry for yourself and feel like crap. Your body sends you this feeling as a warning signal, that something in your life needs to change. It's one of the most powerful signals your body can send you, don't misinterprit it like most people do and start procrastinating even harder, because that will lead to even deeper depression untill eventually you become numb. Feeling bad is not a bad thing, just understand your body is trying to tell you "vegeta we need to change, and we have to it now"

THat sc analogy is pretty spot on.

Do what I do when i joined Lp. Never post and just read. Honestly every post I see you make it looks like you need to quit. If your in debt and depressed honestly poker is not what you want to be doing right now. Honestly for right now you just need to play poker for fun. That being said if your using the forum to escape your rl responsibilities that will probably fail. This is the internet your talking about. Everyone is assholes. Honestly besides the people just making fun of you there are a lot of people trying to save you. I hope your 1k debt isn't to poker and thats what your chasing after.

People don't hate newcomers here. When I was new, people were kind to me and helped me. You don't even try to learn the game, you're constantly posting things that AREN'T CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY. Learn the game, READ other people's hands and understand the thought processes, improve your own game, and when you have a basic idea of what you are doing and why you are betting when you are betting, start posting hands for help.

Ace you have been preatty nice to me and understanding man. I owe a couple of thousand dollars in credit card debt. I owe thousands in medical bills, and thousands in student loans... There is alot of really good people in these forums no doubt. There are a few who derail my threads and turn everyone else against me. And I do listen ... to good advice no doubt about that... I dont argue against informative posts of people who are trying to help me. I even went out and got that harrington book that you told me to get. I went to the library and they had volume 3 there. I guess i needed to start out with 1? So i downloaded the boot leg e-book . Hopefully that helps. I also got the little green book by Phil Gordon.. I am trying, but the thread today was just like wow? are you serious. I wanted to have a serious discussion about the november 9 and someone derailed my thread and after that it was like wow ? anyways thx for your advice in the past and future man and to anyone who give sme advice i wana thank you for many reasons..

fuck you

The post today got hate because its like have a pre-match discussion of a basketball game, with 5 minutes left in the final quater... Seriously, go find a NBA forum and try to start a spoiler free discussion on who will win the most recently played game, i guarantee you will get 95% of people saying "wtf, this post is stupid". If you combined that with 7-8 previous posts making you out to look like a possible troll, do you think people will be giving friendly "lol man, it's alrdy been played!" or do you think you'll get "Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you idiot, get off our forums?"....

K, probably a bad time to joke. I'll try something more helpful...

Well, the best thing I guess is to listen to what ppl have to say, don't take it too personal, and put it into practice if you feel like it. Mainly just play a shitload of hands and learn through experience. You'll probably see that there is a lot of truth to most if not all of the advice only some of it is more appropriate for certain styles, etc. Play a lot of hands, work on the basics, get all the help you can get via sites/articles/videos.... while gaining experience.

Stay humble and don't think you're gonna be able to make a profit easily. Chances are you'll lose money, at least in the beginning - not because you're not good, personally, and you need to prove yourself, but because of the nature of the game. It takes a lot of time, tons of patience, an almost buddhist disposition, and a willingness to keep learning that you didn't know as much as you thought you did.

As ppl have mentioned, not having money to play w/ outside of meeting your bills/expenses (don't know if this is the case) can greatly effect your play and your ability to learn/improve. Like I said before, you shouldn't even be thinking of moving up. Nl2 is perfect...nl5 can come much later. You'll mainly need to focus on gaining experience - focus on improving your pre and posflop play etc...vs making money. Again, in poker, there are going to be times when you do the right thing and still lose. This will happen for thousands and thousands of hands. Even when you're doing your best to minimize mistakes. This is why a lot of ppl now might not be the best time to get started.

It' up to you, but it might be better to just share your progress w/ a few members. I haven;t really read any of the threads you made, so I can't comment, but most ppl probably aren't going to take your opinion of poker too seriously if youre just starting out. yada yada....
