Quit Poker
became software dev

Now i have:
money , wife , kid

I learned the lession very late in life but fortunately soon enough.
"If you want to make decent money while having ADHD then you need consistent hard work in an honest business."

I never had the patience/self control needed for being successful with poker.
And i will never have it
ADHD made me always dream too big from excitement of becoming something special which always results in a crash.

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)Last edit: 26/05/2025 18:53

"consistent hard work in an honest business"

Isn't this good advice for anyone?

"ADHD made me always dream too big from excitement of becoming something special which always results in a crash"

The ladder is definitely true but I did not know that it was a trait of ADHD.

A Trait of ADHD is that you cant really endure delayed gratification for too long and also have Impulsiveness combined with exaggerated excitement when something works.
you always start to feel like : This one thing that is currently running well will be the Solution to all my Problems! And i want the Solution now ! I cant wait any longer.
I need Salvation and i will have it.

This will always lead to the result that when you have 3-4 good sessions at your correct BR/Buy-in to limit you will start to play too high and crash.

How did you acquire this knowledge? Did you read it somewhere? Did you talk to a therapist?

I just learned I have ADHD not too long ago and it is tough playing catch up.

GTO wizard isn't even the best strategy at my stakes cuz there are exploitable plays cuz ppl aren't even balance (well at my stakes lol not HSP). they are more balance now than say before but aint 100% balance.
I see thats okay it was fun while it lasted lol but lmk if u ever get back into poker cuz its fun well at least for me anyways lol

If it were 2005 PokerStars conditions I would still be playing probably. I've been through it a million times already... I don't want to sign forms to cash out, give my social security number to cash out, give my blood samples and stool samples to cash out only to deposit on shitty sites full of bots and other cheaters. I didn't like the software and vibes of Ignition and ACR when I played there and I don't feel like chancing it with WPT Club Gold or Coin Poker.

WPT has paid me out NP btw

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident.

"No problem" is subjective.

- W-9
- Schedule K
- USA New Tax Legislation (you can only deduct 90% of gambling losses)

That's more friction than I want to deal with. You guys are in different boats. J being Canadian and DooMeR being a successful professional.

I want to battle heads-up on beautiful software and cashout directly to my checking account with no fees. That's not possible so fuck it. In a couple of years I will have access to a casino and private games. Hopefully, I'll have more meaningful stuff to work on then but who knows. We could have a discussion on what meaningful even means.
