I recently got back into BW thanks to the ongoing pandemic. Anyone else grinding ladder? There's some really interesting metas going on right now. Protoss have been massacring terrans with this new mass speedshuttle/templar/zealot drops. Lots of interesting stuff going on it seems. Game is much different than it was in the 2000s

at about the 1hr 24min mark he plays a few games vs Best who has been dismantling all the top terrans including flash with it. It basically consists of forgoing arbiter for quite a while (til very late game) and mainly just teching into speedshuttles and hightemplar drops everywhere while macroing and just basically trying to take fights whereever possible. its extremely annoying to play vs because u can have 4 turrets next to each other practically and speedshuttle can still run through and unload 1-2 hightemplars everytime its extremely annoying. Tons of harass everywhere and it also allows protoss to bulldog obv. So your dealing with 1) basically mini recalls 2)tons of harrass whenever youre turtled up and he cant fight your army. 3) tons of AOE we cant really stop from getting through making pushing much slower, or risk sieging clumped and having 4 storms kill all your tanks + vultures thats too close together not to mention the AOE from your tanks trying to kill them when 3 shuttles are dropped on your army. One of the major annoynaces is that they get it so early (often times starting out with reavers after expo+range). Then the abuse begins. And so what was typically a situation for the terran meta was to try and take a 3rd with 2 factory(MAYBE 3 if they were extra careful) and your initial marines + bunker. Has basically been completely shut down. To the point where at any point at around that time and onward. They have kill potential on you at any moment youre out of position. Also since this is their main army composition they are using for harassment. Its essentially doing double duty. Allowing them to always pressure you while not sacrificing having to get different units for harassment. They instead are using the same comp that they would be engaging a large battle with also. So yea.. its dirty. What light has been trying to do is 1fact expo, into armory then tech to 4 fact and get starport and start +2 before building his 3rd CC. Basically a +1 timing push off 4 fact. Not to attack. LITERALLY just to take his third. He has 0 kill pressure vs this build doing this. Its just that he doesnt think you can even take your third anymore without this "timing" attack lol. I don't understand korean but i watch his stream everyday and ive seen the transformation of his tvp over the past 2 weeks and what hes trying. The only real "pressure" he tries to put on the protoss is realisitcally just dropship with the faster startport and light vulture raids. other than that a lot of it just consists of trying to split the map until protoss takes a bad trade. Or we get a large amount of damage done somehow with harrassment

Surprisingly yea. It is. Atleast if youre high C rank+ it is surprisingly pretty decent. I'm hovering around 1800 atm and ive lost to 1600 players that were able to execute it okish. Its very strong. Also a clarification. Its not that they are loading their army into 12 shuttles. Its just that the shuttles die and they keep making more and more. They are constantly using them to storm drop which is basically guaranteed losing it. In practice they usually only have like 2-4 sometimes as many as 5. Its often you also see them having templars outside the shuttles and doing mostly zealot bulldogs instead. Which isn't AS strong, but at lower levels its just so hard for terran to combat that it gets the job done very well.

i dunno i have a lot of fun playing it, but u cant play with good players otherwise its stupid because of all the superior spawn spots
so i just play with randoms on us west

I just played a public tvz and I had 80 apm lol. My opponent was also terrible and we had an amazing back & forth with like 4 comebacks.

For about 10 straight bo9 showmatches, Light stomped every top Protoss/Zerg. Then Best showed up with his mass shuttle strat and took him down. Incredible stuff. Kept thinking "but but but what about the arbiters?". It makes so much sense though, I was having a ton of issues with Terran just getting 2/1 upgrades, grabbing 3 bases, and then pushing near 200/200 and I couldn't really do a thing even on 5 bases and maxed out first, they could then grab a 4th, force me to trade badly, and eventually tip the scales. But this approach allows you to constantly do something when maxed out first rather than waiting and just building a bunch of gates to remax once the terran pushes because recall/stasis are just a tad too slow to do anything before the huge terran push.
