So this 21th is the fight in Las Vegas and Im looking for a small sweat, of course im on my buddys side (JC).

JC has trained before and Busquet is quite new in MMA but Busquet is 10kg heavier and with more muscle, they are offering 1.2 : 1 odds in and Id like to offer a small bet to anyone who wants to take Busquet, any takers?

I'd make a small bet but I'm not on Stars so we would have no way of getting money to e/o. I like olivier side though. GL

Terrible fight, but at least they got in there and gave it their best.

OB looked big and slow; he gassed after R1; he is the epitome of flat-footed; his striking sucks; and his top game is ugly, too.

JC kept ending up on his back; he threw up multiple triangles that failed; his striking sucks, which was evident by all the circling he did around the cage while not even throwing any strikes, and OB literally stood in the middle and turned with him, thus JC was circling for nothing because he stopped and stood still every time he wanted to throw a strike.

not sure what fight you were watching, but they looked really good for their level, I've seen much worse pro heavyweight MMA fights, and I thought they looked far better skill wise overall than previous poker fights. I'm guessing you have never stepped foot on a mat, but it is really hard to look that smooth. OB was flat footed because of two reasons 1) lack of training, only been 6 months and I'm sure he concentrated mostly on his wrestling/grappling since that was clearly his best path to victory, and 2) to conserve energy. No need for him to bounce around and tire himself out when he could patiently wait for moments to shoot

• I mean... Yeah, they looked good for THEIR level, but that doesn't mean the fight wasn't terrible, at least in my opinion. Also, I wasn't expecting them to be high level.

• I haven't seen any other poker MMA fights, so I can't compare. The only other poker fight I've seen was the kickboxing match between Elky and Raszi, and while I enjoyed that fight more, JC vs. OB and Elky vs. Raszi are too different sports.

• I have stepped on a mat before, but my time on a mat doesn't mean much since I've never specifically trained for a fight.

• I didn't know what to expect from either guy, I actually was expecting to see JC Tran, not JC Alvarado. I stopped watching poker before I ever heard of JC Alvarado, so I have no clue about him.

• Regarding OB, I had no problem with him being flat footed and staying in the center of the cage, because it worked. I was mostly surprised with JC, as he kept jogging circles around OB without throwing any strikes, and then when he did decide to strike, he stopped in front of OB and then threw something.

Reminded me of Tibau vs Caol Uno. JC's striking wasn't powerful enough to hurt OB at all, and he just got manhandled in the grappling due to strength. JC def should of sauced up too considering how much money he had on the fight.

Yeah, Busquet was roided to the gills, it was a bit naive on JCs part to not juice too, too much money on the line.

BTW PuertoRican Busquet had only 6 months to train, he didnt have any prior experience... it was crazy how good he was with that little training, pretty solid timing in his counters (yeah JC made it easy), he mounted JC twice and JC had been training BJJ for years, he also went for a two leg takedown with perfect penetration and timing, he did way better than I expected.

He was very flat footed, but footwork is hard as fuck hell probably not even worth training if you have 6 months when the path to victory clearly was wrestling and GnP.

I am a bit dissapointed in JCs striking he didnt any jabs or anything, his leg kicking plan didnt work and he didnt have a plan B, he should have fainted and exchanged some punches a bit because Busquet was simply timing the kick with the right hook and he floored JC like 3 times with it.

Regarding mostly your last point, fighting someone 20 pounds heavier who has significant power and is a freak athlete....it's not easy to do exactly what you picture in your head and kick/punch effectively and get away. Also, like Raszi said after his fight, you don't fight nearly to the level you are in your first fight, nerves/adrenaline dumps really limit what you can do out there.

Fight reminded me of GSP vs condit, condit sort of expected the fight to hit the ground, wasn't able to force his BJJ there, and couldn't do enough with his kicks without the threat of a takedown or a punch hitting him.

I enjoyed it. Thought there was excitement on the feet with kicks, some big rights from liv, and a knockdown, lots of nice takedowns, some sub attempts, different positions on the ground, lots of good GNP.

JC definitely didn't look like a guy who's trained several years, at least not seriously. But then again he was getting punched and elbowed in the face by someone who looks like they train at ATT, and the whole punch a black belt and they become a brown belt thing is true to some extent.

Respect to both guys tho, I could never do this. Getting beat up AND losing a ton of money sounds like one of the worst feelings ever. Especially when you're the guy who trained 5 times longer.

It felt as if JC was terrified of being punched in the face, when he was walking to the cage he shadowboxed a bit and finished with a high kick, looking pretty fluid and decent, then he connected the first kick, it looked good then bam.. that was fucking it, not a single feint, not throwing any punches, despise his body being relaxed I dont think his mind was in the right place.

I asume they trained the oblique quick expecting Liv to come hard after him threatening takedowns, those kick work wonders because it stops them in their tracks, but Liv was pretty stationary after the 1st minute of the fight in the middle of the ring, and those kicks SUCK against somebody who is expecting you to come in, more so if they arent threatened by any punches, the kick is too short and easy to counter as we saw.

TerranceChan was making a kind of documentary of the fight, I guess it will be interesting

JC's face says the match was not stopped early.

Thought the fight was actually really good for what it was. As for OB staying somewhat stationary...don't see how that was really bad for him in this fight. Thought a cpl times he almost stayed stationary on purpose to counter JC moving in and OB's explosion/strength in those counter exchanges would be tough for most anyone to handle unless they were just so clearly on another level skill-wise. Also, juice or not...OB seems like a naturally densely built guy. Buncha movement trying to chase down the smaller man circling around would've just gassed him faster. Props to both. Esp JC. Even knowing that skill and training means a lot...giving a guy who has such clear physical advantages time to train to fight you...can't not respect that

Guess I would agree that I expected JC's striking to look a bit more fluid. But maybe his prior training was heavy on ground training and like others have said...has to be a really tough thing to navigate and look good when the guy in front of you hits a lot harder than you and you're not actually really experienced in real time fighting as well. And not like OB was just some heavy, slow non-athlete. He had some real explosion behind a couple of the counter flurries

There's no reason to not take steroids. I'd be surprised if Alvaredo didn't. You will hit harder etc
I would like to know Busquets height for ffmi but can't find it.

Yeah I mean its not like you can be certain he didnt given his body shape, but I dont think he did it, I would bet on even odds that he was clean, and I would bet 10:1 that Busquet did PEDs.
