Yeah, it's sublimation. Provides me energy. I am not very good yet but learning a new technique or surviving in live sparring can produce Rausch.

Part of this thread is about not vicariously living through anyone. Fuck anchors. Fuck repression. Fuck distractions. Part of me thinks it would be awesome to move to an island or desert or forest like a Cioran but for now I would prefer smaller doses. I know I do better with social interaction is the thing. How much, with who, and what kind is the complicated question? It is hard to find people devoid of annoying anchors, delusions, denials, et al. I am sure I am included. Is this my inner truth or my inner misogynist speaking?

Is any tribe an anchor?

Cioran was a very social man, unlike his writings would seem to indicate. The difference between him and most social people is that he wasn't social because he needed to be. Most social people band together in order to avoid being left alone with themselves. But he had plenty of 'alone time' for himself, and he shared its fruits with other beings much like him. He never did retreat to that far away corner, in the end. The thing is, you don't need to retreat from people if the company you keep is good.

Any 'tribe', any company you keep can consist of people who are completely unable to escape the 3 repressional defense mechanisms. And I believe it was Seneca who first talked about the fact that other people's vices inevitably end up affecting us if we don't limit our closeness to them. So, that's the real challenge.
