re: dogmeat on leaning forward

didnt want to say anything cause im a very casual lifter but how much you lean forward doesn't seem good? I've been squatting under the impression I should never be leaning forward throughout the rep

deppends on your style and leverages

this picture demonstrates hips shooting up early in low bar position, note the picture is exaggerated:

the key point is the bar should always travel over your mid foot

Smuft: mostly what dogmeat said. but it also has to do with foot positioning. the further spread your feet are. the more lean youre going to have. I was doing this with a wide stance for higbar. Its something ive been working on bringing in more but still working on since im new to this stance. Leaning can take away strength on the squat mainly only when it isn't traveling in a straight line. Since you have to compensate for inefficient movement. But so long as the lean is just in order to keep the bar moving straight. the only real worry is maintaining a neutral spine. Since I am a tiny manly at 5'7 3/4 and weigh only 150. With 210 on my back and fairly wide stance for highbar. I gotta lean to maintain straight path. Towards the end my hips start shooting up a little early because my quads are failing with the weight but my low back is more dominant so it just takes over the lift. So thats why I was even able to get the last 2 with some inefficient form. But not dangerous. I can hold my spine neutral in that position with that weight np.

flounder44: 5 7 3/4 or 5'8 is what i usually tell people

+1 on dogmeat.

From what I saw, that bar path was all over the place. And even at that angle depth was questionable.

ye depth was questionable. but barpath was more than acceptable imo. Not sure what ur getting at unless u meant the last 2 reps where I was failing. if u meant as a whole I dont get it. Maybe its the camera angle but I keep a pretty straight bar path usually. If it wasnt straight it would be tough to keep balance on my heels the entire time.

Did you re upload this video? It looks a lot brighter now. Yeah, your bar path is fine I don't know what I saw last time. Did you get a new belt?

Lol its the same video. And that's the belt u recommended I buy. Lol I told u that I only use my cheap belt for deadlift cuz I use a different tightness and placement for deadlifts than squats. So I use my lever belt for squats

Oh :D.

If you ever just want to quickly switch placement of the lever just bring a quarter with you to the gym. Takes less than a minute to unscrew and change up the position.

hmm i never thought of that. i bet you think you're so cool because you use things like "logic" and "common sense". who needs those things honestly.
