I think you mad an error in your salary negotiation. Since you are actually prepared to leave you have huge leverage in that spot. I think it would be better to ask for 120k planning on settling at 90-100k .

Also 100% agree with this. I expect them to come with some 75-80k back to you a couple days before you actually leave.

My friend also works in IT and must have been doing something really similar to you, is not really expendable, But he also has his own business and just joined a company to get some schedule/experience. And when he got all that he just said he's gonna leave, handed in the notice. Literally 2 days before the end of his 30 day they offered him some 60% salary increase, and half a year later they bumped him to a corporate position and his salary is more than double, earning more than the boss that hired him that's with the company for many years.

You guys are absolutely right about the negotiation. Under normal circumstances my new position is an 80k position. Under difficult circumstances like it is right now it's a 90k position. You never start the negotiation at the price you want, you start high and hope to get talked down to what you want. Whoops. Oh well I dont really care anyway, it's easy for me to stay at 90 firm since it keeps me focused on what I really want which is to play poker.

bye now
