Uli Hoeness sued for tax defraud

Uli Hoeness the president of Bayern Munich (bayern who? gtfo!) got sued today to 3yrs & 6 months in jail for defrauding taxes at around 30Mio €.

It was a spectacular trial here in germany that caught a fucking lot of attention! In germany they established a rule in 2012: If you defrauded taxes but report yourself to the police, you could get out free (ofc you had to pay back the taxes).
Alot of german high rollers had their money banked in swiss and lithunia banks and fake companies and whatsoever just to avoid taxes in germany but celebrated theirselves as honest and good ppl (just like hoeness did).
But germany kept buying data from swiss banks to reveal those tax defraud of german high rollers and alot of them got afraid and reported themselves.

Hoeness did this aswell but quite late (some ppl already investigated the case).
His lawyers said that his report was complete and successful.
The judge found that this was not the case and that he did everything on purpose and was just trying to disguise his actions now and being more of a pretender.

Besides that Hoeness stated in early 2013 that he was honest with taxes at all points. also at on point he pointed out that he donated 5mio € to charity and that this was much more than the taxes that he defraud.
Through the trial it became clear that he defrauded AT LEAST 30 Mio€ (the exact amount is still unclear since he submitted nessecary files for his tax proofs just before the trial began).

This was huuuuge in germany and is history for german tax law!

TBH, throughout my childhood I used to hate American Football (aka - football) with a passion. Now that I'm older and have been into it for ~6 years, I gotta say it's an incredible sport. Hockey's great and all, but the players can't really go balls out 82 games in a season - playoffs are where it's at. I would fucking call that. You know that geography is not only about placing cities on a map ? climatology, hydrology are part of it so as almost any aspect of science when studied considering spatial disparity.

Then again, I love learning about history, geopolitics, geography, etc. The average American is supposedly super bad at geography though, so I see where you're coming from. From the way you said it, I thought it was explicitly obvious that you were referring to actual destinations on a map. If you wanna talk about the literal science of geography, we may as well discuss differing plate tectonics theories, changing weather systems, rock formations and magnetic pole shifting, ecosystems, etc. as well if you want to be that literal.

Having never been to Europe makes your knowledge of Europes geography so much more valuable, dude. I know a lot about the cosmos but i've never been there either. Why don't you take that fake bet money of yours and fly to Europe. This wasn't originally about whos sport is better. i hope to go to Europe someday and probably will sooner rather than later. i think it was fairly obvious to everyone else that i wasn't implying never having been to Europe made my knowledge more valuable. because, you know, there's no rational reason to interpret it that way.

fair enough, i was mostly referring to a narrower/simpler definition of geography as you correctly assumed. but given it was in response to his comment about americans not being able to find germany on a map when i could easily draw all the german states on a blank map, pinpoint their capitals, and probably name close to 100 german cities off the top of my head (and do similar for the regions of france and other major countries) i don't think the spirit of my reply was unreasonable as i highly doubt he could do the same for the US.
