Well, dota certainly has that too (the whole, "it looks like it's gg" /unhype. We even have Ayesee who I think is the most ridiculous shit ever. The most fabricated, fake earnest shit. It's just, the stage and the context of the game was too perfect. You just couldn't tell who was going to win until the end. Tons of comebacks and re-comebacks.

I think this was what I really liked about SC as well (and perhaps why I dislike SC2). Or any other game that I really enjoy. It's never over until it's over.

Whenever I watch tastosis casts, I find that when tasteless decides to go full goofy/making jokes mode it tends to be a poor cast if artosis tries to be the opposite with analysis. On the flip side, when they're both funny/goofy it's great and when they're both analytical it is also great.

What you see in casting today is people paired up just because they:

a.) get along and don't interrupt each other awkwardly that much

b.) one alpha caster with a support

c.) two people who just suck together, individually, and/or have no business casting in general

I think if you're going to cast in a certain tone then you can't have hiccups where you shout out the loud hype-mode type stuff during battles such as "THEY'RE TAKING THE BARRACKS, NECRO 3, SHACKLE, ALLIANCE IS DOING IT" and then interrupt it with stuff like "And this is very good for Na`Vi. They're gaining experience and setting themselves up for a stronger later game. This is very efficient" etc etc. I found that during game 5 when the one guy who does all the loud yelling got in his groove, it would sadly be ruined by that other guy who tried to be who he wasn't (loud/charismatic/exciting) and just come off awkward and kill the moment for the viewers. On the flip side, when the loud guy tried to slow down after a huge battle with some analytical commentary it just came off terribly.

That being said, I think the dota 2 community has a few super talented and entertaining casters, and they're just not utilizing the right duos.

Stop playing HoN, Khan.

Also, Seth Killian for the president who has the knowledge, passion, hype and professionalism.

I strongly disagree with most of what you said here.

Puppey is still amazing. You don't just end up in finals three times if your support (and leader) sucks. While it's not a bad thing to hold an opinion, I think it's reasonable to give an accomplished player like Puppey a benefit of the doubt instead of saying his draft/decisionmaking sucks.

Xboct is an amazing player, incredibly underrated. For what it's worth, even I used to think he wasn't so great. But since this year's TI, I have changed my mind completely. This guy is absolutely incredible. Game 4 could've almost been a turnaround mainly thanks to Xboct, and their victory over Orange came down to Xboct as well. This is when Mushi dies for a third crucial death, where in night time, Mushi's OD forces itself forward to sheep Xboct when rest of Na'Vi were sitting behind him. Sheep is an instant cast, and 800 range (naix's night vision also 800 range). Somehow, Xboct was able to react to this and rage before the sheep was clicked on him, making Mushi look stupid as it now seems he have forced himself towards all of Na'Vi to get killed. That sealed that game.

There were other numerous times where his button-clickingness was so fucking on point. Where many others would've just died and he'd snaprage and live openings of ganks.

Ad superfast reactions - wtf how did S4's puck (Game 5) manage to avoid that XBoct's Alchemist stun from invisibility. That was something I didnt get, XBoct was casting the stun standing almost next to him, so it took like what, 0.2s to land? Yet S4 still managed to somehow spot it and dissapear...

there is a light at the end of the tunnel... (but sometimes the tunnel is long and deep as hell)

That was quite impressive from an overall game-sense/always being aware standpoint but nah it took quite a lot longer than 0.2s from first alchemist spotting to it landing. He was also running through a fairly dangerous/active part of the map where not watching his character and expecting things to happen would be a bit bad. Still cool though.

Also as someone mentioned earlier, that '$800,000 Puck ult' did actually only cancel Puppey's (Enigma) TP, xvoct+funn1k actually were running around almost in circles by the looks of it waiting for s4 to come in only to then TP afterwards. The main thing about that whole situation, as mentioned earlier, was that Dendi didn't have a TP. That seriously possibly cost them the game and was possibly the reason why AdmiralBulldog on the Furion cancelled his teleport back to base to defend rax and just kept pushing - they'd probably noticed that with no TP on Dendi they could likely get two sets of rax for one. Pretty big mistake to make :o(.

I haven't ever played any MOBA's but have thought about it a few times, how hard is the learning curve for DotA 2? Do the noob public games/public games suck in general with random people?

Raising preflop more than 10% is somewhat wild. 5% is average. Less than 3% is passive.

You have to try it, 'cause I have friends that didn't like the game at all, didn't find it friendly, but I think is actually quite simple.
Eventough it would be better to play with some friends.

Anyone know how much those dota 2 streamers make per hour (assuming around ~1500 viewers)?

i think any pro should have reaction times like that (s4 puck came to mind as i was reading this). not to take anything away from the pros, but rage/phase shift/bkb/etc should be automatic with decent game sense.

but there are times where xboct will literally run around in circles if he can't find a stunned target. or he'll dive super deep past towers by himself and lose team fights for na'vi, or chase a support while the enemy carry kills the rest of his team. compared to other 1's, he just isn't impressive.

Game 5 was won by S4's puck. He stopped TPs to defend base/throne TWICE.

Mostly your level. When you just start playing everyone sucks. They have a match-making system but it has many flaws.

Anyway, best to play in a group with friends I think, otherwise you're gonna end up with idiots saying at start of game 'mid or I feed'. Then they proceed to feed in mid.
