This pretty much confirms that online poker just wont work in the long term anymore. I'm pretty sure whether or not i get my 4k on FTP back that im going to withdraw on every poker site and quit the game. Games are harder(more regs, less donks), the money on each site seems more and more vulnerable every passing day, etc.

I feel like absolute/UB is next.. really want to get my money off there asap.

Agree with this, sorry americans

I doubt PS will be hit by this. You need to have servers on their little island right? Whereas PS are on Isle of man..

edit:

  GSC Statement 29th June 2011

The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission wishes to make it clear that the licensing status of PokerStars in the Isle of Man remains unchanged following today's statement from the Gambling Control Commission in Alderney. Alderney is a separate jurisdiction from the Isle of Man and the operation in question is separate from PokerStars.

PokerStars continues to demonstrate compliance with its licence conditions in the Isle of Man. PokerStars continues to offer withdrawals to any players who wish to withdraw their funds, including players in the USA to whom PokerStars does not currently offer real-money gaming.

Well, i doubt they're all that happy about it. It means they most likely get more players but people now distrust online poker more than ever given that 1 of the two main most reputable sites has been shown to be shady and now taken offline.

Disagree. Every problem FTP has had since black Friday just shows how much more professional and safe PS is. When something like this happens and one of the two big sites goes down while the other stands tall, it shows that its not the industry that is shady and unsecure, its only FTP (and some smaller sites). It should be clear to anyone with a brain that PS and FTP were never on the same level, even if they appeared to be. It would be foolish to judge them in that manner.

Yes, in a regular players eyes. I'm talking about the fish -- your average poker player. For them, they will ask "why is PS any different?" and still may not believe or trust that it is any different. It is definitely something that may put off potential players. It's just more ammunition people can use against poker.

This is terrible for the industry as a whole, just like the UB scandals. These issues reaffirm to the general public that online gambling sites are shady and should not be trusted.

Why do you think that pokerstars immediately puts up a public statement that they are still reliable?

I thought it was obvious I was referring to those NOT in the US. You fall into a tiny category of US players who could play but not cash out. Essentially you changed countries to gamble for play monies.
