What is the minimum bankroll you guys would recommend for seriously grinding 1/2 GBP live cash game?
I am mostly planning on playing in The Empire on Leicester square - the games are full of fish - lots of tourists, recreational players, businessmen + usually 1-2 regs/competent players apart from me at the table.
I am obv short on cash, so I'd like to have an idea how much I need to save up to be able to seriously grind these games.
Would you ever consider playing half stacked?

if these games are so fishy, then one full buyin is enough, just play and collect money |

dont buy in too short, dont buy in too deep
100 BB is perfect
4 buyins should do, i dont really see how you can bust in these games |

the only thing you have to lose is the chance to play in this game, so take any money you have there |

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time | |

I sincerely believe to play your best live and to literally take advantage of these games - (even huge advantages have variance) - you need a minimum of 10 buy ins as a worst case scenario.
buy in 100BB. Try and scrounge at least 2000 then just start. But I would resist the urge to start before that. and if you're really short on cash make sure you have debt solved before playing. |

This , take a shot with 5 bi is retard.
If you play scared money , you will play badly.
10bi is the minimum.
But yeah most of the time those games are pure goldmine. |

was playing in london a month a year ago, I bought in for like 345 or so at 1-2
like it'd look like that was what I had, most were sitting with 100 - 200 in between there so, nice to have em all covered.
as long as u can sit down, uve got enough xD |

I disagree strongly with 100BB buyin. Preflop raises are around 10 pounds so you want 200BB to retain your skill edge post flop.
Empire lets you buy in for 400 pounds. Run away with it |

i have 0 experience with small live poker (and not much with live cashgames in general) but from what ive heard a lot the rake is often very hard to beat.
Looks like the Empire's rake is 5% Capped at £10 for whatever nlhe game you're playing after a quick google. Do any more experienced live players know how this compares to cardrooms in your part of the world? |

yeah last time i checked the rake was like Ket is sayin. I think its similar rake to online micros cash games? no proper rakeback tho.
I used to go there whenever i had some spare cash to buyin, just to put some live hands in, but want to take it more srsly now. I think ill try to get at least 1k - 5bi and go from there.. |

From my live game experience (Southamerica not London) you should have about 10bi's, because you will often be playing very deepstacked. rake is very high but also very beatable since players are so horrible. |

Rake in Ottawa is like 10%up to $5or6 with $1 jackpot every single hand, the jackpot thing kills it. 2/5 is hmm $10 max with that $1 jack and I can't remember 5/10 and 10/20 but I think they are same as 2/5, not sure tho haven't gone in year or more for fun |
