Hey LP!

I've been a member on Liquidpoker since the beginning without making too much noise - but now it's time to introduce myself a bit. Started to play back in 2005 as a hobby, and it ended up being my source of income while studying at the university. I've had a modest success, nothing fancy but enough to pay the bills. I used to play nl100 and nl200 mostly, and started to take shots at nl400 at the beginning of January 2010. Previous to that, I had some good months, and made some good progress playing wise and money wise.

This is the last database I have since my computer crashed and I lost my 4 year old database (sucks!), and the graph represents October to the end of January.

Here is where things turned around. Not about poker, but in life. I got a scholarship to study a semester in Shanghai, and I had trouble resisting that. Being unable to play in Shanghai (crappy internet, VPN etc.) I haven't played for 6 months as we speak. Got a lot of poker abstinense right now. The only problem is that I pretty much wasted all my money (including my online BR). Not something I regret, I had a great time, but now it's time to take poker a bit more seriously.

I just deposited 650€, jumping right at nl50 (NLH 6-max). Going to play at an ipoker-skin (had to get a new one since VC kicked me out a couple of months ago). Anyway, the reason I created this blog was primarily to keep some track of my current progress, and hopefully get some feedback from members here. I'm gonna take aggressive shots now, trying to reclimb the ladder.

NL100 at 2000€, NL200 at 5000€, and then we'll see what happens (hopefully this will go somewhat smoothly). I'm planning to record some videos when I've got the grind going.

Good luck all

So you're still in Shanghai? I've had experiences with trying to play on pokerstars while in Shanghai. You need a really good internet connection, and I recommend only playing during non peak hours, which is usually after midnight to 10-11AM. Multitabling can be a pain since there will probably be small delays. It's definitely doable though since there are lots of Chinese players on the major sites. Good luck.

Oh, I'm back in Sweden now. I tried to play some Rush Poker (bad idea) but lost a lot due to latency problems. Got disconnected, it was laggy, and I started to semi-tilt. Lost something like 800-900 dollars before realising it wasn't working.

I tried to play a few hands at different places where some of my friends lived, but it was the same shit, even though they had a better connection.

if you've lost your database can't you just email support and ask for your entire hand history? i know pokerstars does it and within like an hour of requesting i had it all

I've played on many different sites through the year (partypoker, microgaming skins, a lot of ipokerskins). Played very little on pokerstars. But it is not a huge problem anyway, the information is not of any particular value (more "nostalgic" to see how bad you played before and still won... happy partypoker-days).

do you (or zulu) know if there are more stable connections available in shanghai?
stable as in functionable 24/7 without delays etc -- western standard.

also; did the vpn affect your connection in a notable way?

I used anonine.com (VPN), and it did slow down my connection although they said it shouldn't. I tried three different places, two of them were in newer house complex downtown. Even if they said they had a good connection, I had latency problems all the time. I'm sure there are more stable connections, but even so, the distance (to gaming servers) seem to have a greater impact. You moving to Shanghai?

It helps to get a China Unicom connection instead of the China Telecom connection southerners usually use.
