OK, for someone with a live bankroll of about $4000, where should I be playing poker in Vegas? Any advice? (I'm a total Vegas fish)

"1/2 at bally's is super soft, but the place is a shithole. It's off to the side of the casino floor.
I've walked by MGM's pokerroom never played there. Looks a little crowded.
I hear Bellagio isn't that great if you're not a reg. Plus the room is also kinda crowded.
Venetian has a pretty roomy and more comfortable poker room compared to all the others."
"Planet Hollywood 1/2 is the softest I found and I quite like the "room" (space in the casino) - not sure about 2/5 games (not generally running at PH)"

I'm assuming you'll be wanting to play just 1/2 and not 2/5 with such a small roll so:

MGM grand sucks bad. Don't go there. $200 cap so you'll rarely have a deep game running, and management will 86 anyone who uses the F word so you'll get a lot of drunken action players booted from the game. I've had no good experiences there at all.

The V is always busy and you should never have to wait for a game to start. $300 max, lots of regs though and I haven't sat at too many tables there and seen people splashing around. Seems to attract the nittier players in my experience.

The Wynn is 1/3 with a $500 max, so it's arguably the biggest low stakes game on the strip. The action is often insane during the weekends due to players coming in after leaving XS; they're usually hammered. The fastest and also most personable dealers I've found on the strip and the cocktail girls are ridiculously hot. by far my favourite card room.

Caesars; don't bother.

Bellagio is pretty cramped and incredibly busy, some of the dealers are dicks but I had a lot of fun last time I played there. I think it's 200 max.

I don't have a lot of experience playing in the smaller card rooms, but most of them will be pretty soft wherever you go.

Wherever you are comfortable man. Its a personal preference, all games are soft.

I personally like MGM, when i get bored I stare at the lions.

Caesars had a really soft 1/2 game. Rio had a daily free roll where if you logged 3 hrs u start with 1k chips, 5 hrs is like 3k i believe, and 7 hrs is 5k w' $5 add on. Lots of nitty regs there though just trying to log hours for the free roll. Venetian has potential, but you really have to be aware w' table selection. Excalibur is LAWLZ in general but not hard to show ez profit. Never played at the Luxor but I heard it was ezpz, but I went there and noticed 4 tables of pure internet kids. Orleans is just a bunch of OLD nitty regs (different than younger/mid aged nitty regs for obvious reasons [adaptation]), i played there a lot just because they're so goddamn transparent, and who wouldn't want a chance at the bad beat jackpot? I played a lot at the golden nugget as well and it's pretty good. Binions sucks 'cause of the nitty regs. Planet Hollywood is pretty good if you like vs'ing drunk euro LAGtards but the rake is higher there than most other places. Someone mentioned MGM, i played there once and just felt completely uncomfortable in their poker room it's extremely brght and pretty open but the lions are a nice perk. Palms doesn't even have a game going half the time. If you have a fettish for old asian women you can play some LHE at the Gold Coast next to the Rio and try to get lucky.

Cheap ass hotel/casino like Empirial Palace. Some hotel where there's a lot of old people/cheap people.

Holy crap, just woke up. Thanks for all the replies everyone. And Chen, I especially respect your opinion, since I actually know you, so I'll probably try that out first

I guess I'll probably start with MGM (assuming it's 300 max), then move to either Venetian or the Wynn, the way Feticeira described it, I'd really like to play the 1/3 $500 buy-in game, sounds siiiiiick. Thanks again guys.

Also, one other thing. From what I've heard, as long as I'm winning, I should keep aggressively moving up stakes, so I think I'll be taking shots at 2/5 pretty soon, after I'm situated at least.

I'd recommend the busy/touristy hotels that attract rich clientele like Venetian, Wynn, and Bellagio. Playing 1/2 at those places is like stealing money. $200 buy ins is nothing to people who spend $300+/night on a hotel room.

Fujikura   United States. Mar 14 2010 00:22. Posts 1795

That's a good point, I kinda figured that... Was thinking Venetian (cuz from what I've heard it's basically the best poker room to play at in vegas, most crowded or whatever) and the Wynn (1/3 $500 buy-in game sounds pretty sick)!
