in the ass and call me a bitch. I did it AGAIN. I played super loose aggro vs a bunch of fucktard fish at NL200 live. Why oh why do I keep doing this! I look back at my own blog and talk about pulling my head out of my ass and quit trying to FPS and outplay everyone at the table just because I see them limping in with trash. Yet I saw a guy limp UTG and call a raise with J3o. The raiser had 94s and was just fucking with him and they checked it down, which is how I saw what they had. At that point I silently said to myself "it's on now bitches".

I dropped almost 3 buyins in like an hour. I dont even remember how exactly. Basically I just NEVER connected with anything whatsoever, and think I ended up check/folding a lot of turns and shit.
Then something amazing happened... I remembered the advice given on LP. I remember reading Myth's articles about how to beat live. I remembered all the posts and all the hands posted.. I tightened the fuck up, said to hell with worrying about a nitty image, and just waited for the big ones. I still saw cheap flops calling the blinds with misc suited hands, 22-99, if it was raised UTG and someone called I insta-mucked KQo pre, etc etc etc. And in about 2 hours I made it all back plus a cherry on top (bout $80) before I decided to call it a night.
It's just fantastic how light these players get it in with. And while I still cant help but think my A9o is good like 90% of the time preflop, these fucking hands just always fail to connect. You really need the AK's and JJ's and shit to be able to properly value town. I even raised AA pre, flop comes A45r, I cbet, get called 3 way, I check turn OOP desperately hoping some tool to bet since there was a lot of that going on, then value bet river and get 1 caller. He mucked but um, wtf did he have? Didnt matter that I raised UTG and a big fat ace hits the flop, somehow his hand was worth about 40 BB's.
So I set a new challenge for myself. Since I'm still addicted to lag play, I'm going to force myself to adapt to being nitty by taking a shot at NL2 FR, since thats how these NL200 games play. I did this a long time ago, starting with play money. I actually had a real roll, but I decided to try play money to get myself used to being a nit, since theres just no other way to play these guys. It worked, and I graduated to NL2 and won like 50 BI's just proving to myself I could do it. It was the first and only time I ever looked at winnings in terms of results and not $$$, since clearly the money is peanuts. These NL200 games are so fucking juicy I simply must start raping them. It's worth it to retrain myself at NL2 so I can play live, because now the $$$ is actually meaningful.

seriously, just play like a nit live at the low stakes. NO ONE pays attention to table image, and even if they are, like saying "wow you're gonna play a hand now?" or some shit, they're still gonna stack their KQ on a Q or K high board cause they're fucking retarded. ez game.

Meh. I doubt myth would play tight at 200nl live. He might advocate it at first but if you can beat 50nl online then you're leaving too much money on the table. The play is so much worse and there's so much extra information to exploit that makes being in a lot of pots worth while. The only real excuse is that rake/tips/drops eat into the profits of people who win more pots live. But if you're stuck playing only one table with horrible players, just make some reads and rape. Don't be afraid to mix up your play and deviate from a balanced game against these brain-dead opponents. You could mincbet flops with air ball and full pot for value against players who play fit or fold and they might never catch on to your exploitative sizing. People simply don't catch on. In fact even when people at 200nl live catch on, often they will mumble - "this guy is raising too much". This is code that you can pick on them more because they're never going to play back. They would have done so quietly instead of trying to get you to stop with words. Also incorporate live reads and the stuff people tell you about how they play. When they talk about hands after a hand is over, they rarely suggest lines (give advice) contrary to how they would actually play. If I guy says "I can't believe you played a draw like that" he's likely not leveling at 1/2 and you have so much more info about he plays his draws next time. And 200nl live is the perfect place to go overboard with your tells from Mike Caro. Strong means weak and weak means strong. People will grab chips when it's your turn to act like they are ready to call, and then when you go ahead and bet, they instant muck. They will sigh out loud timebank and then minraise with the nuts allowing you to fold medium strong hands. They will vary their bet size, but you will take notice. They will make a laundry list of mistakes to exploit that I'm only giving a few examples of. Live is a great place to get you out of hudbotting mentality and thinking through every possible option in every spot.
When you play lag you'll be forced into more tough spots and you'll become a better poker player faster by learning from these decisions. When the session is over come back here and post the 40bb hand you had a tough decision on instead of the hand where some callstation called off his stack with a 4 outer and took 100bb off you. If you're only playing 1 table you might as well work on your game. It will be tougher for sure. You'll have to get value with much less than tptk. Value bet that ace high against the guy who can't lay down his draw. Other times you'll have to fold better than tptk but your villains will make it easy to do so because you're paying attention and he fears you. You'll be forced to make reads and adjust your play to exploit that extra knowledge. Unless your livelihood depends on winning at 1/2 live with low variance, then play lag and get better imo and this is coming from a self-admitted nit.

If your unsure on liveplay I'd start off nitty and then make adjustments when you see things.
