don't have any stats but villain seems to be pretty competent, 3betting my button raises and folding to 4bets, 3betting my flop reraises on dry boards. he had bet me off best hand (2s) once before with a flush draw and i figured he had air just by the way he was betting. is this a good way to go busto or is it ok? nl10 is definitely a much better game than nl5...nl5 is so painful and nl10 i actually feel like i'm playing somewhat intellectual opponents.

You are thinking way too hard for nl10. You're not playing vs. intelligent opponents, trust me.
This is spew. Do you have a plan for a river that isn't an ace?

what exactly does "leveling yourself" mean? overthinking?

thanks for the responses btw

edit: and yeah i guess it kind of worked out that the river was an ace, hadn't really considered that...but with him firing 2 barrels in the couple hundred hands i've played with him i felt that he was on air and my 4s were good anyway. i know that might not make too much sense but it's just kind of how i felt given how he was playing.

Just because 10nl players fold more doesn't make them intellectual
and this is terrible

nl10 looks more like nl2 than it is for nl5. Except when they bet out of nowhere, like checkraising on the turn, it could be either a strong hand (mostly true at like 6pm to 12pm ET because of more american's players) or a simple top pair/bluff (which occurs pretty often at europeans time). Don't ask me why, this is just how i experienced with a friend.
They tends to raise a lot more at europeans time though.
In other words : nl10 isn't more intellectual.

Shin-il : Yeah it was very very very good for me too. Rekrul : YOU MOTHER FUCKING FUCKING SON OF A BITCH

Thanks for the insight RaiZ, that's something I'll have to keep in mind during my sessions.

I don't like the play. On the flop you're out of position and you have a hand that has poor equity vs a wide range of hands. On the flop calling is not an option because you're going to be behind or will be behind on later streets very often. On the flop check raising is not an option because there are a lot of hands villain can decide to peel with or just float. When you lead the ace you might be able to get away with that as a bluff in nl 10, but it generally doesn't make sense because if you wanted value and had a good Ax in the first place, villain will just value bet worst Ax anyways or will decide to use the scare card ace to bluff anyways.

this play isn't bad if you're trying to represent a missed draw...
