Failing at not checking results when I know I'm having some incredible bullshit happening to me Going to work on it.. Part of the reason I checked today to make sure my roll wasn't in danger tho.
Bleh first 1000 hands I lost $1000 at 1/2 and had an EV of $0(edit: turns out I exaggerated the EV/misread the graph u can see in comments). It has continued this theme until the 3500th hand where I'm wrapping up my 4th session today at -$500 and an EV of $200. (I moved down to nl100 after hand 1000 at 1/2)
This shit doesn't need to happen every 3rd day in such extreme ways does it? Can't I just have a smooth week or two for once.. please..
Still feeling goodish overall, just so tired of getting slapped in the face like a dick biting whore everytime I start to have a good profit for a month or play 1/2.... naw mean?

lol I'm not the biggest fan of ur attitude lately. human emotions are normal and sometimes need to be expressed. plus you are acting all enlightened and experienced when you don't live off of poker. we are all experienced poker players here on this site and we understand variance fairly well already. |

What does the fact that I don't live off of poker have to do with anything?
And I am trying to promote a healthy culture where I can discuss how to vbet well, celebrate successes and discuss theory and not only see the endless whines about the backbone of profitability in poker.
You guys are my favourite LP posters for gods sake, how the hell can I stop caring about irrelevant short term results when half of the blogs here are whines about variance |

It can wear on your very much over time, and when your livelihood and future plans depend on being successful sooner rather than later it can become a little overwhelming. It depends on the person and I have already talked about how I'm trying to relieve that stress.. but just telling people to stfu about it, atleast me, doesn't help. It is also harder to take seriously (especially when you use an aggressive way of saying it) when you say it, because you don't come from a position of authority or experience on the subject. It isn't anything personal.
And I think once people reach the low-midstakes level that brett & I are at we do have a decent grasp of how variance works, perhaps these whiney posts are coming from a different angle than you realize.. I'm not totally broken up or raging because of it every day or every time I post about it.. Most of the time I'm just expressing disappointment because there's no one in real life I can talk to about these things (I have no rl poker friends in my area).
Hopefully you can understand a bit. I don't mind a more gentle or inspirational reminder at all.
again.. I am still trying to improve and reduce my disappointment/emotional involvement in results.. |
