Had some bad news on the family front.. My dad hasnt been well for a while and was feeling really tired and not really knowing why..
After alot of doctors visits and stuff they finally did a MRI and unfortunately they found a tumor pressing up against his pituitary gland and the optic nerve.. The tumor is about 4cm in diameter and is pressing on the pituitary gland which is about the size of a pea. This is causing him to have some problems, hes always had vision problems so they might get cleared up, but now hes having hormone imbalance problems so he needs to be operated on pretty soon.
This friday we are going to portland OR to have another meeting and do pre-op stuff, then we will come home for the weekend and return on monday when he will have his first (and hopefully last) operation. From what ive read, its very rare to have a tumor in this location be cancerous, so thats a good thing.. But the size of the tumor is a little scary, if it were smaller then the success rate of total removal is much higher, but its huge so were not sure..
Anyway thats whats been on my mind alot lately, i havent told many people because i dont wanna be babied around and have people feel sorry for me all the time.
Anyway i go up on monday and will have a hotel room there and be there from 3 to 5 days.. My family has lost a decent chunk of money before insurance will take over all the payments, and i think my dad is going to lose about a month off work in a very key season. Which all sucks pretty hard.
Im sure ill be playing alot of poker next week tho because ill have nothing else to do besides sit in a hotel room, ive still been having good results just playing some full ring games..
Where i need help.. my parents have asked me to set up a blog for him so instead of mass emailing the shit outa everyone, we can just link them to the blog.
The only blog ive ever had is on this site, so if anyone knows where a good place to setup a decent blog is, that would be alot of help. Something that you could theme would be nice also.

jus curious, is the blog for family and friends(as u mentioned that you dont feel like sending out emails)? if its for family and friends, i also recommend wordpress as ive used it for quite some time. you can also have facebook automatically post ur wordpress entries on ur facebook by subscribing urself for ur friends+fam to see. best wishes to ur father |

i used godaddy.com to host and automatically install wordpress. Installing themes is easy too (i.e. dl theme, put into folder, then activate it). Costs 5$/month essentially. The only real benefit to this is you get to pick your domain name i guess.

Shit Chris, that sucks. At least you've watched enough house to understand wtf is going on right? heh... my step dad just had some big medical problems, had a seizure while driving. I actually predicted the cause thanks to my house skillz, and now he's doing better.
I dunno about where else to blog, I'm like you and my first blog was here and it's my only real one. |
