I have always planned on going to college for Civil Engineering even though I know that is not the career for me. I think drafting/architecture would be best but I wanted to aim high. But in my recent struggle for happiness I am wondering what it would be like to become a professional dealer. I would be surrounded by the game I love all the time and the experience would improve my live game. Has anyone looked into this at all and does anyone know the cons and pros? Also I live in Texas so I would have to move to another state to pursue this profession.

IF you want to deal with the scum of the earth on a daily basis go ahead imo

Odds are exactly 50%: it either happens or not

Oh god no. Go to college. Seriously. If you can get into any reasonable college it is insane not to go unless you have a really, really, really compelling reason. I would imagine for an average person you would need 100k per year (with visibility into the future) to really make up for the social/income costs of not going to college.

So is there no future or advancement for professional dealers. What kind of money do they make anyways?

both CivE or architecture would be completely fine choices and no one would have the right to complain no matter what your reasons.

But I have heard the money is pretty good. And there are some casinos with non-smoking poker rooms.

i heard dealers make pretty good money as well. nothing wrong with going to college and dealing at a house game or something part-time, there are many people who do that and still bank.

That is, unless you go to some place like Harvard or Carnegie Mellon or some other geeky high-powered school, then its probably more worth it to just grind the 4 years and do as well as you can.

How is this not taken seriously? I am asking for feedback on the subject. If I knew everything there were to know about the subject then why the fuck would I ask? Like I said this was just a thought that I came across when trying to find something that would make me happy in life.
