Up to this day, this is something i really don't understand. This month, I've had some pretty decent 7 to 10bi days, but since i never stop on a win and got nothing to do, i keep playing (coz im playing well enough to go on) and it seems the cards even out the same session and i have days this month where i shouldve won 6bi and because im such a greedy mofo i end up breaking even sometimes, or worse, down by less a buyin. I've always believed that ur results now will be the same tomorrow , and by that i mean u exactly get the same number of situations where its hard to let go and lose it anyway. my question is, will cards/luck change if u continuously stop on a winning session? or are you doomed to swing the ff day regardless? if it means that the rng is completely random, then i guess stopping regardless if ur playing good and cards are starting to "even out" huh? i think i should have made about 40bi so far this month had i stopped and rng resets and just coinflips my luck the ff day, so now im thinking of just playing and stopping at say 5 to 6bi regardless of how good im playing, if cards start to suck, just quit? its retarded obv but i just want some inputs from other ppl, coz tokeweed used to believe its better to "avoid" variance and sometimes i think he's right haha.

note:
im asking all this coz im kinda "forced" to grind more hands than regular coz of some fpp/milestone goals, im starting to think it aint worth it if i continuously lose my winnings just coz i play a lot more than i should.

Your intuition is right-on. Obviously mathematically it doesn't matter when you play.

Still, what you really have to ask yourself is this: are you 100% sure you are playing as well late in your session as you are early in the session?

It's too easy in poker to drift off your A-game and later blame it on variance.

Its because you play well first few hours then switch to auto-pilot. So yea its not worth your time playing when ur not re-adjusting vs your players that's been playing with you for hours. I've been there myself and right after I realized it and made changes I had my first 100buyin month at 2/4. GL

If you are able to play your A-game, it doesn't matter.
Read this article about running hot, great food for thought about variance.

I find that when I am winning I play a lot looser to go for the big score and that ends up costing me a lot. Especially when I play live with fixed limit I will often find myself making a stack of my intial buy in and a second stack with my profits and I feel like I can gamble foolishly with that money just for fun lol

well if you play 100% consistently then it won't matter, but often I find if I'm up 5 bi or so I'll make a loosish call/play because things have been going my favor, and bam the kick to my nuts snaps me out of my false sense of invincibility

Cards dont care if u win or if u lose, but how do u feel when you finish a session up a few bis ? u build confidence and therefore play better your next session. I usually set myself a goal, like 4-5 bis then if i reach it ill definitly stop if i put in 2k hands then repeat the next day. If you cant stop playing then play some donkament instead.

Odds are exactly 50%: it either happens or not

i tried putting in a few hands in 50nl, true enough after a winning session from 375usd 100nl, lost 2.5 bi at 50nl lol. fuck this shit. next time im using the responsible gaming 24 hour lockup just so that i wont play anymore

I wish I could force myself to end when I am winning.

My whole game changes....

For example I cat easily can let go with AK on a AK2T board when a relatively passive guy shoves turn when I was winning previously.
But I have serious problems letting go TPTK when a set is damn obvious when I was down 3BI the previous day.

My point is, if you can resist altering your game than you can grind, no matter what. If you can't its better to stop or just go play some low BI SnG's where you can tilt as you wish

just try to make sure you aren't autopiloting, maybe play less tables if you find you start to lose focus late in sessions
