So I am a cash games player, but last 4 days I have always been playing 5-7 tables NL5 SH and always opened one tourney on the side.
Once the $36 in 5.50 MTT helped me to get out of a tilt and I am grateful for that.
Today I tried the 180Man SnG for the first time and it went pretty nicely.
I got some nice suckouts like
HERE:+ Show Spoiler +
and
HERE:+ Show Spoiler +
but one hand was really epic where I went for 40% of my stack and sucked out AQs with A9o.
I was the big aggressor when it went to 4handed, raising a lot of hands and garbage a lot.
This was ok, I know how to exploit position from playing 6Max and even with 3 people I feel very comfortable.
But then the HU match came, with equal chip stacks. I have no idea how to play this, especially:
1) The sizing of PF raises
2) 3Betting
3) What is my style and goal. I know how I play aggresive in position with semi-decent hands SH, but it doesn't really work as I must play garbage often HU and I had no idea how to exploit my relatively tight opponent.
So I finished 2nd, earning myself 14BI for NL5/NL10 just like that.
Tourneys are so much fun, I feed the Gamble I got in me in the later stages, adrenaline is pumping and its generally awesome, although poker skill is needed only at the final table.

If anyone wants to point me to some HU articles or wants to write the basics here I would really appreciate it I really felt my opponent was really bad and he just got there with total nit style all the way, but I played so badly he beat me quite easily...
P.S. Just to complete my Brag, Here is my last 4days NL5.
+24BI Including the tourney, I like. Could be more if I wasn't total fish HU ...

I did for a while, but I hated the monkeys that never fold anything that force me to play like a nit (you know, 100bb, they got 30% of their stack in there which means their middle pair must be good ;o) And I am a horrible as a nit, and always get tendencies to 15table TT I am skipping NL10 Altogether but like last $30-60 before NL25 to get used to 100bb again (my BR is at $550 now).
200bb Deep= Me playing 18/16++ profitably and awesome battles with fullstacks that can never happen at NL10. These clashes where I play with one guy almost every third hand are such a great experience for me...I even get to use the metagames and deceptive play, how can anyone say that about NL10?

HU sng's are luck-fests. its hard to get an edge
playing HU is complex, but in general, everyone is weak, bet and raise every time you possibly can and make them fold till they give you a reason not to.
equity is important, if you have so much as a gutshot its a good spot to barrel
pf bet sizing, minraise is best unless you are playing a mega fish, min riase nearly everytime you are on the button. this is the best way to exploit your tight opponent.
3bet them oop with junk and see how they react. if they fold do it more.
theres a free HU video of twisted on ballerpoker i think |

I don't want them to be easier, I want to go straight to NL25 because the games are harder.I am not skipping it because its hard, but because its soft!
NL10= 50%+ middle stack idiots that never fold= Me forced to play 13/12(-)
I love to be outplayed, no problem with that-lesson learned, but when I play with a guy that never folds anything I simply have to ship every TPTK+ and cross my fingers. Than when he loses he leaves the table...NL10 really is a must to mass table as I see it...

Thats the thing Apollo, I don't want to. I learn so much playing on the loose side of TAG and have such a great time I feel reluctant to nit it up again |
