i mean seriously, fuck that game

At the end of day 1 at nl25 i was at 1260
I run omaha and drop to 900

play sngs and mtt's day two, get up to 1150
lose 150 playing omaha

start day 3, BR : $950 -

Say to myself "Im gonna crush omaha today, im so sick of variance crushing me, watch out!" and continue to drop another 150 before realizing I'm never going to win at omaha again or something

so im down around $700 +/- $100, and even from where i started 3 days ago (my PT3 doesnt track omaha but I've been crushing NL25 FR to make up for the loses, and now that I worked my way back to 1k even, I'm erasing omaha from my games list, or only playing it at super micro games (NL5 etc)

BR $1001.13

Lesson - Omahas variance is higher than any other game, i thought i was good at omaha, now im not to sure if im good at it or was running good in the past (although i've never had a run like this in omaha in my life)

Its good encouragement to stick to FR, thats where like 90% of my profits are from and some from $12 180 man turbos, although the turbos are also pretty high variance, I'm only going to play them 1 day a week for now on, seriously, with a mix of the $6 sng's which are really easy $85 at a time if you run alot of them and finish off the FT's well.

Meh, not bad though, if I were playing the way I used to play, the runs I had in omaha would have rolled me for sure and I would be sitting here busto, but the guide has saved me, as well as limit restrictions on pokerstars!

Theres been 1-2 times where I've been in the moment where in the past I would have just opened HU tables and tried to recoop loses, but now that I'm playing deeper rolled for my limits, I see no reason to ever take such a risk when the money will be flowing in easily most days of the week.

Alright, I suck, apparently I can't beat omaha and i give up trying to play it ever again

GL LP,
Ryan

dude i know you hate me and stuff but i have played omaha with you and you have no understanding of the game whatsoever

you're literally the incarnation of the most LAG nlhold'em player brought to play omaha for his first time without even knowing that you have to use two of your cards to make a hand

you play as if your hand values are as they are in hold'em but they aren't top pair is worthless overpairs are worthless you don't c/r them allin on the turn

asdfj;oa

i could seriously explain every single leak that you have to you right here right now but im going to quit at your omaha game is weak.

i appreciate the input, i do agree that i must suck at omaha, if you could pm me my leaks i would greatly appreciate it though, i do want to be good at it one day

and i don't hate you, although your the only one that brings negativity to my blog, you also bring the truth to my blog from time to time, which is also needed from time to time.

meh, anyways i quit omaha til im atleast nl100, then ill play some nl10 and nl25 omaha for fun

thx for the advice,
Ryan

im no omaha expert and im no where near good enough to give you advice i just can tell you undoubtedly that your idea of hand values are insanely skewed preflop and postflop

anything else i think is a leak is my opinion but i can tell you the above without a doubt in my heart

ya ia agree, my hand value is skewed and this is why variance plays such a big roll in my omaha play

i saw you were playing 110 and 220 HU omaha sngs, that's gotta be worse than anything you've done since you have no idea how HU PLO works and yet you are playing 10-20% of your BR in a sng where u have no clue.

i did play a couple of those one night after losing a couple hundo at omaha and ended up breaking even in them (2 sessions of 2 tabling) - had a long convo with a close friend afterwards and realized how terrible those games are, both degen fests and not games i'd be profitable in, in the long run

You must realize, I'm working my hardest to not be a degen idiot, although I do have the urges to do things, I'm learning how to win in the long run, and have made a couple semi-bad decisions, but nothing scaled to what I used to do, and I'd also like to think that any of my HU shots were very controlled.

if your main problem is tilt i dont think you should be playing omaha (nor heads-up).

well as ive always told you, if u play only what you totally smash, ur 700br wouldve been 1500 by now playing nl50. you waste too much time with experiments when you should just be playing your strengths coz you are building a roll. this is not the time to be fucking around with "new" stuff if your mind is set on a goal and apparently you have been previously doing really well. dont spread yourself thin by playing different games all the time

Yeah, omaha is sick variance. At least you can crush nl25 FR, can't say the same for myself.

QFT

my stubborness has been getting in the way a little bit, but the numbers speak for themselves and you are 100% correct

ill keep grinding FR without any of these distractions and hope to make NL50 in a week or so

I haven't really made any br management mistakes, i've taken a couple 10% shots at some mtt's, but always controlled with few tables going (mostly when I was going hard on the hu SnG's, although they're way to swingy and not close to as profitable as NL25, so obv no reason to play them

ive come really close to winning a few big mtt's lately, a few top 100's, thats the only tournament style ill play for now on, the $11 and cheaper MTT's on stars, maybe the 27.50 at 8:00 if im on at that time
