so im gonna deposit some money some time in the very very near future, haven't decided how much yet but nothing over 300. I'm pretty excited about this but I seriously have no care for money and losing that 300 on a coinflip or even just randomly wouldn't even bother me, and i think that might be part of the problem. I first of all definitely need some type of help with this cause it makes tilting all the more easier. On the other hand I think it's a really good thing for being able to make it into higher stakes poker, maybe I just need to find a balance.
Secondly I have some tilt issues that I think mostly come from playing underrolled. I am definitely a degen gambler though and if im not playing for something that excites me I get bored and lose focus, so it's an absolutely terrible mix. For what it's worth playing something like nl100 at the moment would be absolutely exciting for me, but I wouldn't ever let myself play that underrolled, i dunno, some weird thing about me.
I know all of the answers to this are gonna be "follow 20bi etc" but is there seriously some way that I can change my ways or learn to have some type of discipline in that manner? I have all of the time in the world to build a bankroll now and no reason to cash out and every reason to climb up the poker ladder because I'm sick confident in myself to do so.
Here we go again.

Listen, if you cant play unless you're getting that "rush", you're better off never depositing again. |

its simple
decide to keep following this thrill and lose money for the rest of your life to poker and other forms of gambling
or
actually smarten up and fuck the thrill, i dont even feel that shit unless its like a 5+bi pot or w/e |

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

i agree dude people who have earned their rolls from scratch really appreciate the true value of $300, if you're ok with losing it over a coinflip then that's a problem, because you're essentially desensitized to the $ which is really bad for a poker player/gambler w/e u wanna call yourself. habits of a losing way imho, i think you're looking for some kind of reason for someone to give you the hope of turning $300 into $3k in a month or something... I think you should start with $50 bills and earn it all the way, then maybe after you go busto a few times you can truly appreciate what really fkin hard work it takes to even reach $1k. no diss juss the truth, GL |

I really think i'd be a much better live grinder than online because it takes away most of my ability to destroy a bankroll + i can see the cash in front of me.
i'm not sure exactly how profitable nl200 live is though
ive only ever had maybe two losing sessions there out of maybe 10 though. |

lol you just went from talking about the thrill of possibly playing NL$100, $3k roll needed and now NL$200 live, $6k roll for that man.... i think you have high aspirations and are shooting for some really high heights, which are totally attainable but it sounds like you're really confused =[ |

yo, ive played poker @ microstakes for beer money/truck payments/whatever i wanted to buy for three years almost.
I started my bankroll from PLAY MONEY i know about starting my roll from scratch and I see no reason why anyone should care about losing $300
Is it really that terrible that i find microstakes to be boring after all of that?
I guess I have no problem with a short period of grinding there to get to higher stakes.
I'm gonna quit bitching at all of your guy's advice too cause I think thats also a big problem of mine thinking im always right and there is no other option. I really hate myself sometimes. |

Besides the painfully obvious advice that you were expecting here...
I found that grinding my way through microstakes was alot easier if I just played as many tables as possible. Playing 4 tables of .05/.10 FR is RIDICULOUSLY boring / infuriating as you watch the donks move money around ... but playing 20 tables I was totally interested the whole time PLUS it FORCES you to have BR management because you can't play 20 tables without 20 BI
Esp since I know you played alot of SnG's, mass-tabling .05/.10 FR would be an easy transition. |

Plus, if you really crush it you can move up fast (I went from 10NL to 25NL FR to 50NL FR to 100NL 6max within a month or two) |

and RS_II I've been busto and built more bankrolls and know more feelings of defeat/sadness/depression than most people ever should.
I'm asking for some advice so that this doesn't happen again. I'm seriously enough like neilly that it's disturbing to me after seeing the shit he does and knowing im somewhat similiar.
Also, play 5k sngs and you'll lose all care for money too or you'll probably commit suicide. |

The worst part about this is i hold all of the answers in my head I just suck so bad that I can't apply them to myself.
I'm really hoping the security of knowing that I'm not playing poker to pay the bills will enable me to not tilt because of the anxiety and stress and shit that comes from that.
Maybe I should just play as a hobby, which is pretty much my gameplan for now 100% and I think I should keep it that way unless I have really good reasons not to. |

have you ever played broodwar? if so just think of poker as some kind of ladder, just like WGTour, say NL2 is C6 and so on, just focus on moving up when you have the amount needed for the next limit, and move down when you lose.... It's as simple as that, there is absolutely no kind of success in this world that comes in the blink of an eye. You'll have to put time and effort, you are starting NOW, the 3 years you've played poker before are meaningless, now's the time to be serious about it.
I know you can do it. |

if you've grinded a bankroll from like playchips to whatever microstakes 847534 times, wouldn't that make you less susceptible to boredom?
if you've done it 10 times already, now all you need to do is do it 11 times |
|
if you add tons of macro options and units and keep the old obligations like sending scvs to mine, pros will just focus less on micro which sucks imo -Floofy
