well i had been playing 50nl for maybe a week and had brought it up to about 1450 when i went on a bad downswing, I lost 200 the first session, the ended up losing 400 more in a 4 hour session i played and decided to cash all my money except for 10 dollars out, i still ended up with $850 profit from a starting a 30 bucks, I moved $80 to FTP and i left $10 on stars and i'll probably try to grind it back up, I decided i couldn't handle the downswings of 50nl so it'll probably be a long time before i ever attempt it againl. I didn't want to be another random kid who lost all his moneyz in one night and i felt the best way to avoid this was cashing out

You don't have to cashout, just move down after losing some buyins.
Like use a 20 BI rule, then move down if you drop below 15 BI and grind back up. |

do what's comfortable for u
I've done this many time and I've lived exclusively off poker for years now
actually on Dec 1st I cashed out my entire roll after a bad downswing at 5/10
I felt like i was playing bad and would keep losing even if i dropped down a few limits
so i started with 1000 play chips and turned it into 25,000 real dollars in 50 days
if u have a solid edge, u can be back at 50NL in a few weeks ez if u avg 3K hands a day |

i knew the 20 buy-in rule and was following it but i just felt like i was gonna continue to lose + i felt like i needed a significant change to get my mind right so this was my best way of achieving this i think + $850 bucks is pretty nice
*edit* im kinda planning on doing what stealcity did:-) |

wow man... this sure doesnt seem like the right thing to do.
My plan is (if I ever move up from this micro-zoo) never to cash out if it means i'll have to move down alot. If my BR grows, i'll move up, following like 30BI rule. I lose a bit, i move down. I feel im playing bad, i move down alot for a few days.
but this... it seems just not right. If you kept that money in, gotten better at this game; soon 850$ wouldnt be so much, you'd be earning it constantly. |
