So, today I did the usual easter thing with my family, which was very lame. My dad, his wife, my little brother and I head over to my grandma's for dinner. My aunt, uncle, and 3 younger cousins also came. Needless to say, I was annoyed within 10 minutes of being there. The food was amazing, but still has me feeling pretty shitty. Overall it sucked pretty hard. Now I am kind of tilted and am going to watch the Sentinel with Michael Douglass and Kiefer Sutherland, oh yah, Eva Longoria is in it too, shiiiiip. Anyways, on to the reason why I am tilted.
I did manage to play a decent amount today. I played about 1200 hands of cash today, and profited ~$500. Still stuck from yesterday, but its a start. Nothing too amazing happened in the games, but ill post some hands anyways. Also, I am getting some coaching because I have been playing really bad lately, and think I still have some leaks that need clearing up. More on that at the end of this post.
This hand was pretty bad. Villain here had shown down a minraise bluff about 20 hands earlier in the session, so I figured this was a pretty good spot for me to outbluff him. Big mistake.

This is just me being the terrible player that I am. Not quite sure what I was thinking when I raised here, except that villain was really bad. Whatever, I suck

Another lame hand against the same villain as above. Basically just me playing bad again. Pretty sure check/call is the best play here.

There were a few other hands I played pretty poorly, but nothing too special to post. Now onto the hands I either played well, or sucked out.
This hand is vs AA-Pete-AA, aka huge racist retard. So much history between us, no way I am ever folding here. I nearly cried when the A of spades hit on the river. Good thing Petey boy sucks balls. I got berated after this hand for not being able to fold AA, lol.

Lol, thanks donks. No explanation needed here.

I missed some value here, I think. I did have a note that he floats flops light, so I figured id check turn to induce some river action. I did, but in this particular spot, I might have been able to stack him, oh wells.

Oops... Im a donk, and was on tilt still...

Unfortunately, there were no exciting hands today, and for the most part, I played like complete shit. Good thing I ran decent.

Ok, now why I am tilted and HATE donkaments. So, tonight I get home after easter dinner, and decide I am going to play the 55k 11r, some 15$ donkament, and 2 20$/180 mans. Well, first 180 man I get 3 outered for stacks about 1.5 hrs into it, gg. I bust the 55k 11r fairly early losing to 88 with QQ aipf, gg there too. I end up accumulating a very nice stack in the 15$ mtt, win some flips, get it in with my big hands and they hold. Then it happens. With about 60 left, I have AK, and 3b a LP raiser all in. He calls with AQ and hits the Q. That cripples me and I bust like 59th I think. Oh well. Now onto why I am really tilted.
In my last 180 man, I got very deep, and ended up final tabling, coming in 6/9. I play extremely well, chip up, get it in with the goods and hold, and am CL from 7 players to 4. Then it happens. I start running bad, the donks are running me over, etc. Not a damn thing I could do. I get it in with AK vs 55 and lose there. That takes me to about 15 bbs. A shortstack ends up busting to the super aggro player who now has 4x myself and the other guy. I was 2nd in chips at this point with about 60k, other guy had 42k. I get it in with QQ vs his 88, he wins obviously. That crippled me, and my AT ended up losing to aggrotards K4s and I bust 3rd. Fuck mtts, I really really hate them. Mainly because I run like shit, but whatever.
So, I was talking to ZBThorton the other day, and he basically called me a pussy ass nit. He told me I should look into some coaching to get myself back on track because I have been sucking and playing overly nitty lately. I decided to listen to him because hes a pretty smart guy. I decided I am going to do sessions with 3 different coaches. The 2 I am certain of so far are BalugaWhale, and carrotsnake. I have yet to decide on the third. I want 3 different views on my game, and hopefully between the 3 of them, they will be able to spot the majority of my leaks. I am fairly optimistic.
I was talking with Baluga today, and he seems like a really cool guy. He wants to use an aggressive approach, and have me taking shots at 2/4 once I make ~ 3k, or have about 8k online. I am totally fine with this considering I will have his guidance. I am hoping to start sessions with him tomorrow. Ill post some updates on how the coaching is going in the future.
JonnyCosmo doesnt think I need any coaching, but I figure it cant hurt.
Speaking of Jonny, today we found an absolutely SICK house that we are really going to try to get for vegas. This place is unreal. I am soooooo pumped now. Heres a link to the house

Go on, be jealous. I am really looking forward to spending 3 weeks this summer with the likes of Jonny, SeanNolan, and hopefully Derek. I am also really looking forward to meeting all of these people I have been talking with poker about forever. It should be amazing.
I am in a bit of a dilemma as to what I want to do as far as my online set up for vegas. I will probably end up purchasing the Macbook Pro within a month or 2, but I will definately need a monitor for while I am there. I am thinking I will just buy a 24" and try to get one of the guys there to buy it off me when I am done with it. If not, I suppose I could just ship it back home and turn my current 20's sideways for a pretty baller setup. Unfortunately I dont think anyone at my college next year will think thats "baller". I guess we'll see what happens.
Ok, sorry for the insane long post, off to watch my movie. Trip report to come. Until then, peaaaaaaaace

The donkaments can indeed be very frustrating when you play well for 5-8 hours just to be eliminated on a bad beat with a very average payday.
On the flip side, a win in a donkament feels like 100x better than the greatest cash game session.
It's not for everybody I guess, since there can be some pretty long dry spells where it's easy to start doubting about your game. |
